Looking pretty good from where I'm sitting! -
To better answer your original question, I'm not sure how technical that you want to be but I believe that you could easily modify the box from the recent Coke short hauler Ford LNT. Like mentioned before, that will give you your wheels. Wheelbase and frame length are easily adjustable. Tanks can be made from pvc pipe. You will need to convert the box to swinging doors from one of the trailer kits if you are wanting it to be exactly like the 1:1. I think if you lower the box and put the wheel cut out in it that you would have a pretty close representation of the real thing. Back to the engine, if you want the Detroit, GW Trucks or moluminum is the way to go. Other missing parts you could probably find here on the forum.

Looks great! I've always wanted to start a project like this but just don't have the room.

White 7400
DRIPTROIT 71 replied to DRIPTROIT 71's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks! The 7400 had an 8v-71 with a 10 speed, the K100 KW that I rode the most with my dad in had an 8v-71T and I think it had a 9 speed. I know that all the Freightliners had 9 speeds, but they had 3406 Cats. -

I thought maybe that you were going to dent the inside is all. Looks great! Looking forward to seeing more! -
This is a build that I've been wanting to do for years. The decals were the hold up, but thanks to Jeff "gotnitro" who steered me in the right direction, I now have decals. I'm building a replica of the first truck that I ever rode in as a kid. This truck was the spare truck and my dad was a mechanic. A truck, another 7400 broke down in Kentucky (steering box) and they sent my dad with a steering box and the spare truck to Kentucky. The truck had just been re-painted as the company had new ownership. My dad was able to fix the driver's truck in Kentucky and drove the spare truck home where he picked me up and I rode with him (my first big truck ride) to the shop in Lexington, NC. Here's where the story takes a turn. That night, still for unknown reasons, that truck burned to the ground. So it was my first trip and the truck's last. I'm strickly working from my and my dad's memory along with some 83 Freightliner pictures from the same company. The cab is from Spaulding Trading and Shipping, The frame is a modified AMT K123 frame, the wheels and tires are from Scenes Unlimited. Here is the way the Spaulding cab looks originally. The grill looks a little too tall and not wide enough. I modified the cab and grill and I think it looks a little closer though it still isn't perfect. This is an 83 Freightliner so that you can see how this one will be painted. Before this project is done, I hope to finish the 7400, build a 40' Great Dane to match and a K100 like my dad drove for a while and I was able to ride all over the east coast with him in that truck.

Autocar DK Dump and trailer

You work fast! Looks great! Are you going where I think you're going skinning the inside? -
The only info that I could find on the truck was a picture on Pinterest. It was titled as a LV1000. If that is correct, it would have a "V" configuration engine. The 3208 although a v configuration, didn't come out until 75 I think. You would have to modify the AMT Cat slightly to make it a 3208 instead of just a straight Ford engine, but it would still be too new. I would lean toward a Detroit 8v-71, but I'm just guessing. I have several reference pictures where I built an LNT1000 a while back if you need any.

Looks Great! Excellent work! If you decide that you want a fender, send me a PM, I'm pretty sure that I have one off of the street machine kit, maybe even a whole bed. I owe you one anyway. -
