Thanks Jim!! Thanks Helmut!! I never saw any working Carolina trucks this clean either. I decided to make this one represent a restored truck. Thanks Warren!! I haven't driven it far enough to get an idea of the mileage.? Thanks Tommy!! Thanks Justin!! Thanks Ken!! Thanks Force!! Thanks Steve!! Thanks!! Old fleet trucks are my favorite! The 70s and 80s are my favorite era. Thanks Jeff!! Thanks Scott!! I remember them too, and it doesn't seem that long ago either. ? Thanks Brian!! Thanks Steve!! I remember back in the 80s that truck bumpers seemed to get bent all of the time; deer, dogs, etc.. I don't know if this is truly the reason, but a driver told me that the short bumpers were to keep the bumper from being pushed back into the steer tire causing the truck driver to be unable to steer the truck, for example if a deer was hit. Of course there could have been multiple reasons. The company that my dad worked for put a small bumper on a Freightliner to save about 30lbs. Thanks Mario!! I agree, outside pictures do look a little better, at least for my builds. Thanks! You're right. I built this one to represent a restored unit. Thanks Philippe!! Thanks Victor!! I may end up with a Carolina fleet. -

Thanks for the info Charles. Looking at yours, I think that your casting was a bit more accurate than mine. -

Thanks for posting the picture. This was one of the inspiration trucks. The other one had 2 hole Budd wheels. I did add dual stacks, which is different from any of the reference trucks that I found. I did that for two reasons. First, the Detroit just wanted dual stacks. Second, I wanted to use the odd offset stack set up that Ford used. The driver side stack sets closer to the middle than the passenger stack. I thought that was an interesting detail, so I wanted it to have it.
