IBG-PZL- IAR P-11F
stavanzer replied to PatW's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
They were fighter planes. Quite advanced when designed in 1930-32. Better than anything the Americans had at the time. But it was still in some squadrons in 1940, and by then it was outclassed. But, for a little while, the Polish AF had one of the best fighter planes in the world. -
Man, I saw similar Tugs towing engines on the flight lines daily for most of my time in the Air Force. Ours were Olive Drab, and the big P&W F100 is huge compared to the Sabre engine, but wow that brings back memories. All it needs is a Crew Chief, in a T-Shirt driving the thing! Man, Mark you hit Dead Center on this project! Thanks!

HPI Guy Asphalt Modified Racer Review
stavanzer replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well, if there will be 3 more versions, maybe there will be kits available for the mainstream. I suspect they will be hitting eBay soon, as well. From the reviews, it seems like a complicated kit. I wonder how easy it will build. This kit has been in development for some time, so I will assume that it assembles well, but CAD is one thing, the real world another. It sure looks like a neat kit. -

So, has anybody completed a build of this newly Updated '32 Roadster kit? How did it fit? Any Issues to be aware of? Would you build another? -
Thanks, Dave.

Cammer, 427 SOHC Ford, in kit form.
stavanzer posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Years ago, Tim Boyd (I think) did a Comparo Article in SAE, of all the 427 SOHC Engines available in kits. He compared 4 or 5 engines, and had photos. I'm wanting that information, now, but no longer have an SAE collection. Does anyone have this article? I just need to know what kits have this motor. I remember that the "Ohio George" Willy's had one and so did the Revell Henry J and Austin kits, but cannot remember any others. And which ones are any good? Anyone have an opinion on which engines are lousy? I think the Revell 427 is supposed to be a Turkey, but I don't know about any others. Thanks, Alan -
Is Hobby Lobby still 40% off this week? I'm planning on stopping in tomorrow to look at the Local store.

Modeling TV sit-com cars from '50s-60s; any out there?

That is a Fantastic Build, Al! I guess my point is that compared to the Chopped '49 Merc that spawned this Woodie kit, the Woodie is a pretty " One Version Only" Kit with few of the optional Grilles, Wheels, and other parts that are in the Chopped Merc. And Then, while having an almost Bone Stock Exterior, Revell Re-used the Hot Rod Engine, which leads to a "Neither Fish Nor Fowl" aspect to the kit. If it had a Flattie, that might have increased sales. I have scrounged Parts from the Chopped Car to use on my build, but I should not have had to do so.. Revell should have had those parts in the box to begin with. That those parts never made it into the box, is more evidence for my suspicion that the Ghost of the Mod Squad Wagon was behind this whole tooling from the Beginning, even if it dare not say it's name. Either way though, I am thrilled to have the kit. Seeing your Great Build, inspires me to go dig up mine, and move it onto the bench. Thank you for sharing and prodding me to work on mine. ? -
"Seemed Like". Sometimes we all just "Seem Like" we are happy & positive...As Discovanman says, Mental Health is very important. Sometimes it is the folks who never say a word, who kill themselves. Suicide appears to be a moment of irrationality in an otherwise normal looking life. Prayers for his Soul.

I've never had the Revell Bronco in my hands. I want one just to compare it to the Monogram, and AMT Kits.

Modeling TV sit-com cars from '50s-60s; any out there?

Brilliant Build. I have a that kit in my stash, waiting to be built as a Generic Cali Surf Wagon. Revell would have sold a lot more of them, if they had included a Flathead Motor, and Cadillac Script Valve Covers. I question some of the design choices in the kit. Almost no build options. Build it Their way and no other. Following the wonderful Chopped '49 Merc with all of it's options, the wagon kit was just a little bit too staid. At least include the wheel options from the Chopped Merc. -
HPI Guy Asphalt Modified Racer Review
stavanzer replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
One on-line review claims that these are the first 2, out of 5 versions of the tooling. The other 3 are expected next year. This seems to me to be a very 'niche' kit. My guess, is that demand for these kits will be intense for a small number of builders, but far less amongst the 'mainstream' of car builders. But I could be wrong. -

Al, I think Mod Squad was the inspiration for the Revell Merc Wagon. It was never mentioned when the kit came out, But I'll bet it was on somebodies mind. Sadly the kit seems to have vanished down the 'black hole' that has swallowed so many late 'teens Revell kits. This kit was only one of them that have disappeared. What flooded the shelves of Hooby Looby from 2014 to 2019, is now gone. -

It was a "Big Deal", when the RR came out, that it shared nothing with the OG Roadster, except design philosophy. -
It is all good, Pete. You get certain habits ingrained into you when you are young, and they never really go away. MY Dad was a Metal Shop teacher, and much of what he taught me about safety just stays with me. But, I was not trying to 'bust your chops. Just sharing the first thought I had when I saw your pic, was the safety aspect. I'm sure nothing will happen.
