Question about Cadillac model kits…..
stavanzer replied to Street Rod's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The MPC 28 Lincolns are good kits, but very Fiddly to get together. Don't bother with the Out of Scale working steering. I'd prefer the Monogram Classics to start. They go together faster and more cleanly than any other kits listed. I'd not tackle any of the Italeri Classics until I had a few Monogram kits under my belt. -
Mack AC Log truck re release
stavanzer replied to GLMFAA1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I don't know if I have ever seen 5 spoke rims on a Mack. Almost all the Mack's I've seen has 6 spoke, Cast Rims. I question the diecast truck. But, not having seen the One-to-One of the Mack, I cannot be sure. -
Thank You, very Much.

The Sunoco '34 Is Great, and I like the Opel GT, especially the decals! The rest leave me pretty cold, with the '57 Chevy and '56 Ford being direct re-pops of the most recent releases. Not a bad thing maybe, as both are perineal Best Sellers, and the market may be ready for them to be back. The Groove Boss racer is a great to have back, but here is where the whole Retro Box Art thing fails completely IMHO! Round2 Really needed to push that expanded Decals bit, and instead they've reused the lackluster original box art, and hidden the new decals on the box bottom. They do get mentioned on the 'features sticker' but there is no colour representation of the new decals on the box. Sad. This is one kit that could have used all new Box Art, rather than the Nostalgia Box. At least show the decals on one of the side panels. Those new Decals are a major selling point in my eyes, especially since the original decals were quite frankly so poor. They needed to be pushed hard, not relegated to a tiny B/W pic on the box bottom.

Is There a Current Boxing of the Steve McQueen, Gulf sponsored Blue/Orange Car out there? Or do I need to find an older boxing of the kit?

Mack AC Log truck re release
stavanzer replied to GLMFAA1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you look closely at the Disc Wheels, you will see that they are unique to the Mack. AITM used to make some resin Wheels that were a direct Drop Fit. Foolishly, I never bought any. -
Thank You for your sacrifice. Round2 Should announce the release of this kit shortly. After all, except for the Unique parts for the "Rough" bits, all three kits have been out recently. LOL ?
-
You have a good point, Jeffery. I will give Round2 Credit for making it very clear what kit is in the box, and not making those kinds of ID mistakes.

How good is the Fujimi Kit? I've always liked the 917, but never had a model of one. Is there one that is best for a simple build?
-
I do! ? I always need more 2 axle, 4 wheel trailers!!
-
You Always need more Trailers! LOL ?

That's not Good at All! Just making the problem worse. If I got warped replacement parts, the whole kit would go into the trash, and Moebius would never see a penny from me, regardless of what they tooled up. This whole situation is a prime example of Two Sayings I learned as a Mechanic. 1. "The Six P's" Proper Planning Prevents Pi** Poor Performance. 2. "There is Never time to do it right, but there is Always time to do it over. Moebius got here because somebody hurried things. Now, they look to be worsening the situation because they are in a hurry again. Time to slow down and get things right the first time. I don't like to see this happening. I like the subject matter Moebius tools up, but if QC is going to become a problem, I can stick to Revell, Atlantis and Round2.

A VW powered, Touring Car Dune Buggy. It could fit the Criteria.

I winder if the parts from the first F-150 4x4 would work on the F-250 kit? Or, are they different parts?

Yellow Fever Competition Coupe, Keeler's Kustoms
stavanzer replied to stavanzer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
So, I'll just go into the project, knowing that I have to fettle things together. Thanks, Mark. -
Same goes for me, Matt. Thanks for the photos. I will take a guess that there might (MIGHT) be enough parts between the Ramp truck with it's extra 4x4 axles and the F-250 with it's extra 4x4 front rims, to make an F-250 4x4 by kit bashing. However, this may not be true. I do not have either kit, and there may not be the correct parts to do this. Tim will tell.

But, hard to get one of those kits just for the engine. I think I'll try the optional Hemi from the Round2 '63 Chevy Wagon. Despite being AMT Tooling, not Revell, I am hoping it will be a drop fit. -
Yeah, I want one! I wonder if there will be a Blown version after the first ones with the Injector Stacks are out?

I've stopped getting as impatient as I used to be. Before, I was chomping at the bit, could not wait to know. Now, I am still excited, but more low key. I can't hurry it along, so I just have to wait. Still, there are some interesting things Tee'd Up, and I am anxious to see them in person.

I well remember both Stef's thread, and his comments about the Box Art. The examples shown will get ME to open my wallet almost every time. Maybe Round2 should try mining this vein of 1980's Nostalgia. For Many Modelers, this box art and these kits were the ones we started with. While Retro '60's leaves me cold, there might be a sizable market for Retro 80's Box Art
