  1. I had both the Grant King Race Team (Who the ....?) and the Groove Boss. I would have really wanted the Drifter Supermodified, if I had ever seen one. That Race car comes with a very nice little jig that you assemble from 3 parts, to help keep the chassis straight when you build it. I think it is a nice, but very Fussy kit, with lots of detail. But, the way it goes together, make modern paint jobs a real pain. The body is in so many pieces that getting everything all the exact shade was a real chore. I really miss Bonediggers! Thanks for the Link. I really like reading the "Why we'll never see the Beverly Hillbillies truck again" article. It was so reasonable and well thought out. And Racing Champions got ahold of the tool, and 5 years later Ollies & Big Lots were blowing out BH kits for 99 cents each at one time.
  2. I know Mark. I was not implying that Round2 could could combine parts. Sorry for the confusion.
  3. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoffrey_Fieger Here you go! Never would have believed it.
  4. Great Pic, AFX! I'd always wondered where those parts went. Thanks!
  5. Mark B, I am not sure that the parts from the two kits can be combined. And, as much as I respect John G at Round2, he knew what kind of storm he was facing, and was trying to do damage control to back over a poor decision, IMHO. It was pretty obvious even by that point, that the 'new tool revisions' were a total loser as far as the prospective buyer were concerned. But, Round2 could not really climb down from the plans by that point, so they pushed ahead. All these years later, I'll bet they wish they had just done what was asked, and put the whole issue behind them for good. Now, with this announcement, the issue returns. Since re-issuing "Classic Kits" is their whole business model (in relation to automobile kits), and as the runaway success of both the '63 Nova Wagon, and '64 Olds F-85 shows, giving the Adult Buyers what they want appears to be the key to winning. Of course, the guys on the retail end of the hobby know much more about the sales of the two resurrected kits, so I am cheerfully willing to admit that I could be totally wrong about the sales record of those kits. I guess my point is, (at least in relation to the narrow subject of Car Kits), giving the cranky Adult Nostalgia Buyer what he wants can be a good way to serve the market (for those kind of kits). For Sci-Fi, Diecast, and others, I suspect that catering to the whims of Car Kit Buyers may not be optimal. And to end on a positive Note! I really like the decal sheet from the Mod Rod! Totally in tune with the TROG vibe of the time, and very well done.
  6. Oops! Sorry. CRS Strikes again.
  7. Ah, so That's where the '66 Chevelle comes from! Thanks!
  8. I think we will see it Bob. Just not on the original timetable. The VC firm who owns Revell now, does not seem like the kind of folks to squander all the effort that has already been invested in the kit. It will show up someday.
  9. I wonder if somebody ever cast that body in resin? It sure does look sharp!
  10. Yeah, it will be that botched, "New & Improved" kit from the bad old days. Other than the wheels, that kit is just a sad reminder of "What-could-Have-Been". But, there are two whole generations who've never seen or built the thing, so it will sell briskly. I do hope they at least include the instructions for and explanations of the three different intake options that were tooled into the kit. And maybe put the "Chrysler Firepower" engraving on the valve covers. At least the wheels and tires are good for kit bashing. About the only part of the kit that is worth keeping......... I remember the deep disappointment with this kit when it first came out. So Heavily anticipated, and then so controversial when we finally got it. There is probably a thread buried on this board comparing the 90's kit with the real kit from the '60's. I wish Round2 would just tool up the correct parts, and not phaffle around with the Mod Rod, that they tried to pull off a few years ago. If they had restored all the Ala Kart parts back then, I'd have bought a couple cases of the kit. Instead we got some un-wanted and un-needed axle parts, and just enough of the surviving Ala Kart parts to tease us. As a customer, I felt it was a huge fiasco! The Mod Rod kits never seemed to sell very well, and vanished pretty fast too. I suspect somebody at Round2 badly misjudged the market for the Mod Rod, and the sales ( I am guessing) reflected that lack of demand. I wound up with one.
  11. Good to see they are on top of it. Thanks, Gary
  12. Ah, Thanks. I'm still waiting for the "Highboy Style" 1960s 4x4, with the tall, skinny tires.
  13. I'm unhappy that I missed attending the March Meets this year. I just could not afford to go. I have not been able to make it since 2019! Ugh! Between COVID, Eye Surgery and scarce funds, I have just had to put it off. Well, I should be able to make the Hot Rod Reunion in October. Maybe next year, provided they happen next year.
  14. Is this kit going to be a 4x4?
  15. His build up of the ole Ratpacker sure looks sharp!
  16. And, HPI Guy has one! Note that there is no rear window for the top. He would have really been able to do a better review if he had looked at the instructions that were posted earlier in this thread. It would have allowed him to I.D. many of the parts he is puzzled by. The finished build sure looks great, though!
  17. I am waiting to see one of the New Moebius kits built with the decals from the AMT Chevy II "Twister" kit.
  18. Gary, what has Atlantis told you in regards to this problem?
  19. Is there a Tamiya Colour that is close to this green? I can probably get Tamiya easier than I can get Testor's anymore.
  20. What colour Green is this car? I really dig the box art Green , and the two Real Car are cool too.
  21. And the directions. https://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/chevrolet/1961-1970/mpc-1967-chevrolet-/ Not my kinda kit, but I am very happy to see it released again.
  22. I agree with you, Ace. But, the inability to manufacture or ship the correct parts will be the death of our complicated, Just-in-Time civilization. This is just a taste of what is coming. The Go-Along-to-Get-Along folks already out number those who try to do a good job. In Fact, many of the 'Go Along' types. look down on the Hard Working types, because it make the 'Go Alongs' look bad. Thus, were get here. Eventually, the whole rotten thing will collapse, as correct parts, of good quality slowly vanish.
  23. They've done the Blankety-Blank '64 Galaxie at least twice in the last 2 years! Time for this kit to come back. Maybe with Coke Branding. ?
