Ever have a jinxed model?
stavanzer replied to Bill J's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Been There, Done That, Stepped on the Fuselage as it fell off the paint stand. Airfix 1/48 ME-109G Wings and stabilizers all nice and Square(for once) I just finished spraying underside in HellBlau,, had a nice clean coat. As I turned around to Set the paint down, my shirttail caught the edge of my paint stand. Down the whole thing goes! I set the paint down, and move to get the plane and it's stand. I trip on the legs of the sawhorse that I set my paint stand on, and crush the kit under my Size 13's. Argh. I never have started another ME-109G kit. -
Adam, I had you in mind, my friend. Heck, I may wind up with a Pinto myself, if they ever make it to Hobby Lobby. The Brat is a "Must-Have" for me, though. I hope it gets two sets of tires.......

Oooh! I'm glad I found this thread. Great Comparo Pics! -
Great work, so far. Always need more TROG cars.

The exact boxing you have, has a lot of older parts in it. Stuff that had not been in the kit for years. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened mine. You build looks good.

How is the detail on the ICM Intake and Carb?

Those Dry Transfers are perfect on Flat Black Primer. There are some great Bucket Seats in the AMT 1907 Thomas Flyer kit. I've got spares if you want some.

For Period Racing numbers, look at WW1 Airplane Decal sheets. You can find some nice vintage style numbers on certain decal sheets. Look for Sopwith Camel or SE-5A sheets.

Plus +1, Luc

Luc, you are correct about the Wheels on the Dodge P/U. However, I contend since so much work had to be done to get the Dodge ready to go, that new wheels were not a problem. The Monaco is on the shelves right now, with the Joker/Gotham PD kit. I don't see Round2 investing any more money in the kit, when all it needs is decals.

What are YOUR favorite old kits ?
stavanzer replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
MPC Stutz Bearcat. I've built 3, over the years, and have 5 currently in the stash. I'll buy every one I find at swapmeets. -
Luc, I'll bet you $10.00 US that the CHP Dodge is Decals only. Sadly, I don't see Round2 spending any money on revising the tool. I wish they would too. I'd like to see it modified to produce and older Dodge or Plymouth as well, and that will never happen either.

Man, I hope those are the decals that come with that kit! I really like them.

1/25 MPC Jeep CJ-5 WWII/Korean Conflict Staff Car & Trailer
stavanzer replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
So the Best kit for a Semi-Accurate Daisy Jeep is the elderly Monogram CJ-7 kit? I'll have to start looking for one. -
Well, Rumor has it that the 29/30 Fords will return eventually. IIRC, the most current Rumor last year before the whole Hobbico/Blitz debacle was that Revell was planning on putting out the Coupe with the Roadster Engine. Then the sale happened and all bets were off. I suspect that from the way both kits sold the first time they were out, Revell is anxious to have them back on the shelves. They were a proven money maker, from what we heard at the time. But Blitz, is short on everything but ideas right now, so I'll wait patiently for them to re-appear. As for the other two, Revell was very clear at the time that the "Blue Baja" was a One Shot Deal. That is why I ponied up and bought one, when they first came out. I did not want to miss the boat on getting one. As far as the Rat Roaster, I know nothing. My Guess, would be that the tool is fine, and eventually we will see it again. But WHEN will we see it? I cannot begin to guess.

1/25 AMT '63 Chevrolet Impala SS Hardtop
stavanzer replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well, A small bit of Info. The '66 Buick Modified Stocker has Promo Wheels on the Stock Chrome tree. Not the Original wheels. A really odd mixture of parts.I have no idea why that is. -
Another Kit, I'll have to have! I do like the Box Art. I hope it sells well.

Awesome, Laser Sharp Build. Like the others, The trunk and Underhood detail is just fantastic.
