Jim B. Your question hits home, that is my business. Gross Wt for Tractor, Trailer and Freight is 80,000 lbs. With the aluminum trailer my trucks Max out at about 45,000 lbs of freight. We scale the truck when there are questions about actual total Wt. No Two loads are the same, and depending on Tractor Type, Wts do change. Even scaling with half empty fuel tanks can gain you 500 lbs of cargo wt.(diesel is heavy, and not filling a pair of 100 gallon tanks does help) The big OTR (Over-The-Road) Kenworths and Petes are heavy trucks and Freightliners and Volvos tend to be lighter. Cheaper too, but they have more maintenance issues (at least in our fleet). I have seen a couple big Kenworth Tractors with the big "Apartment Style" sleepers that grossed over 50,000 lbs by themselves. The folks who own them tend to do "Custom Hauling" of High Value, Low Weight Freight' HTH. Alan

AMT DOUBLE HEADER!! Trailmobile Trailers
stavanzer replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Can these kits be used to build Flat Bed Doubles? I see the short, doubles from my office window every day, and I'd like to build some. Or should I use the old Testors/Lindberg Flatbed kit, and build it as a shortie?- 11 replies

That '77 Firebird is just lame. Sad that there are no optional parts. Not even an extra set of wheels......... Three Colour Decals! Be Still My Heart! I'm glad the Willys is back out. Pitch the decal sheet and you still have a Great Gasser kit. I like the Red Line Slicks too. The Trailer Doubles will be a hit with Truck Guys, so that is a Home Run there. That new Lift looks nice too. I just wish all three of those Garage Series kits, would make to either my LHS or Hobby Lobby. Afraid though, Imma have to break down and mail order them. Good Month, though.

It is looking great, Jim! The colour you have on the truck looks like a vintage colour. It works nicely. I'm all for the toolbox being gloss Black, also. Dress it up with a small name or number decal to personalize it more. -
Some Info. I saw Jim race at Mesa Marin a couple of times. http://www.everret.com/SAUGUS5THIRKETTLE.html https://www.thefreelibrary.com/IT'S+THE+LAST+CHANCE+FOR+THIRKETTLE+AT+MESA+MARIN.-a0135824798 Jim Thirkettle, won five straight Mesa Marin track championships, from 1979 to 1983, in addition to two track titles at Saugus Speedway. Jim Thirkettle's racing career is legendary on the West Coast. He made his way up the NASCAR ladder and competed on the old Grand National Division, when the top stock car racers visited Ontario and Riverside. http://westcoaststockcarhalloffame.com/about-2016-inductee-jim-thirkettle/ Enjoy.

1/25 AMT '34 Ford Pickup Customizing Kit

No Corvette Hub Caps. Sorry. -
That frame is under the '23 T Depot Hack/C-cab delivery van kit. And yes, it can be tricky to build. But, I'll be getting one to bash with the new Roadster to make a Hot Rod C-Cab.

Look in HPI Guy's video. He has a good close up shot that you can freeze frame.

Beautiful Build. But I was hoping for a 'Real' FJ not the modern version. -
Thanks, Casey. Looks like everything is still in the kit. Now, I gotta get one.

Just found this on Casey's Model kit instruction site. http://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/984/smp-1959-imperial-convertible?page=1&scrollTo=1009 How many of the optional parts listed for the SMP kit, have survived to the Model King (and now Round2) Imperial? Does it still offer both the Rear Deck and Continental Spares?

Great Work. Where did you find that Jeep Trailer?

Project '37 Ford Sedan rat rod!
stavanzer replied to House of 13's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Looking forward to see what you do with this build, Jan. The Revell '37 is a great kit. What have you in mind for an engine? The Flathead Merc in the Monogram '40 Ford Pickup, is a simple, but sharp engine. Better than the engine in the Monogram '36 Ford Coupe, IMHO. -
Looking good, Rob.
