AMT 1960 Chevy Apache
stavanzer replied to Flatout's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Great Build! That colour suits it well. I really like the choice of Rims, too. You have really nailed the Street Cruizer Vibe. -

Yep. I never realized that those old Monogram tires were that close to the real thing. -

Man the tires on that truck look almost like the ones in the kit. -
If I am not mistaken, both this kit and the Italeri, represent long 109" WB Rovers. The only difference (body wise) is the number of doors. So Chassis and and engine swap potential is there.
-
Good Points, Matt & Geoff. I had not thought about either. However, from my point of view, the only place the spare belongs on a LR is the hood. Years of TV watching have had that effect. I'm only concerned with the "Look" of the build right now. I wonder if the Hood from the Italeri kit can be transplanted?
-
So, I hope I can get a 'dished' hood so that the spare can return to its proper place on the hood. When I build mine, the first build will have the spare on the back door. Hopefully by the time I build my second one, the aftermarket will have the proper hood available. This kit looks so far, like a Home Run for Revell.

Ooh, Ooh! Gotta Have this!! Looks like a Winner.

Yeah, that looks like about the size of it. Great Tooling extension, for them, but maybe not a great deal for us, the buyers. I'll be getting one anyway, as you can NEVER have enough Land Rovers! If this sells well, maybe it will encourage others. And, there is still whatever Revell-Germany has planned. 'P.S. I wish we'd get the Michelin Tyers instead of the same-old Uni-directional Military Rubber.

Well, Tom, if that is true about the Diecast stuff, then Good For Round2!

The Multi-Piece Chassis is a bit more difficult than the Single Piece one in the '25, but other than that, it should be about the same. I'm just thrilled about having the ability to put the Rod parts into the C-Cab and Depot Hack.

I'm surprised that the '23 T is not getting more interest. This kit has been "Un-Obtainium" for 40+ years, and all it seems to merit is Meh? I'm in for more than a few of these, if only for the Kit Bashing possibilities. I see at least one Street Rod '23 C-Cab Van in my future, long before Round2 does the same. (which, I fully expect they will, eventually). Besides, the Stock '23T will just look different than the current '25 T. Not Much, but it IS there. Round2 seems to have really slowed down on Model Kits, in general the last few months. I see the Diecast and Johnny Lightning stuff going great guns, and I wonder if the kit market is seeing reduced interest and sales? All these Coke themed kits are just re-issues of stuff that have been out in the last few years. (except the '53 Ford), and I'd really like to know how those kits are selling. I do, however, hold out high hopes for the forthcoming '63 Chevy kit. I've never had one, and I am anxious to see what the Kats do to the kit.

Yeah, Cop Cars always seem to sell. The 'Exploder" would be a great Police Car kit. -

Coca Cola Kits ?
stavanzer replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So. Can we now get a 1994-95 Ford Ranger with Coke Markings? If that is what it takes to get one, I'm all for it. Or a Ford Explorer? Or, Heck, the long rumored Bed Buggy? -
Most beautiful planes of all time...

Brittan-Norman Islander! One of my Favorite Planes. I love the Airfix kit, and wish Hornby would bring it back out again. Beautiful little 'Bird. -
December will bring my wife and I, to the big 25. (at least 25 is Big for me) Not sure how I wound up with such a good match.

You said it better than I can, Jim. Drivers have 11 Hours to drive, and a Total of 14 Hours they can be on duty. And that 11 Hours has to be broken up with mandated Lunch and Rest Breaks. Electronic Logs (logbooks) are now mandatory and managing Drive Time is a HUGE part of every drivers day. Dispatchers and Schedulers, have to work within these limits as well. But, you know who does not know or care about all the rules and limits? The customers! They just want it now!!! Thus most companies are fudging the rules, just to keep business. Because, if your company won't bend the rules, another company will break them and underbid you for time and cost estimates. Thus, the legal rules are observed more in spirit rather than actual practice.
