Any grooves on the tires, or are they smooth donuts?
-
Luc, the two bits I read about mention widening the CJ hood, and narrowing the Jeepster hood. Not sure which would be best.
-
Other than the 'High Roller" suspension and wheels, and the added back gun rack, it IS the Plow kit. Right down to the silly '57 Chevy style F.I. unit. After viewing Chris's excellent video review, I'll pass on this one. Luc, you and I are 180 degrees apart one our view on the boxart on this kit. I think it is even worse than the horrible art on the '76 Torino. Glad someone likes it.

CJ-5 hood is too narrow.
-
Time for a re-post of the "How-To" for backdating to the older style nose. The Inner Fenders and the older grill are in the kit. Not quite sure how to pull it off though. Maybe someone will resin cast the hood. It Looks to be the biggest issue with the conversion.

Yes, all the stock parts are there too. It is a great kit.

That Order Sheet is a terrific resource, Erik! Notice how clear it is about "Rear Fender Flares". Nothing about any Front Flares mentioned. That will be invaluable to build a factory correct Baja Bronco.
-
Note too, the the '71 Bronco in the photo, has the stock air cleaner, not the chromed pie pan that is in the Baja Bronco kit. Going to be some very interesting kit bashes in the next few months. Too bad the Bronco in "Romancing the Stone" is an '84. Be neat to build a replica of the "Little Mule".

Now, Revell, the Olsen Bros and Fireball Models get some of my money. After reading the initial reviews of the stock Bronco, I held off getting one. With this kit though, I'll be pulling the trigger. I can't wait to start on it.

Fireball Models is doing some replacement grilles.

Quite the cute little speedster there. Great save using leftover parts.

GM and Chevy Quality
stavanzer replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Regarding Yugos. I remember reading a line in one of the Auto Magazines when they came out. The reviewer wrote the shifter worked with "all the smoothness of a baseball bat in a barrel full of coconuts." Thirty years later, I still recall that jibe. -
1980 Ford "Pinchero"

Yet again, the C.Most workshop excels! Great Build, Sir. -
Now THAT is a great build! That Ramcharger is not a great kit, but you sure made it Pop. Are those Fireball Modelwerk's tires? The wheels look like the ones from the recent Revell(ex-Monogram) Chevy Snowplow GMC. The interior and life-like engine bay are the stars of the build, but the whole package just rocks. The little Dodge Ram logo on the front fender just adds that last small touch that completes the build. I hope this wins many awards.

It looks like they may have gotten the tire sidewall to rim ratio correct this time. Tires look vaguely like Gates Commandos. I know which Bronco kit I'm getting.
-
Thanks, Mike. Glad to get the Stepside. That is easy money for Revell. I wonder how they'll choose to market it?
-
Yes, Casey, but you can use the Hop Up Parts from the Chopped '48 Coupe, and they are all vintage. I'll be getting one of these, when they arrive. And, I must be the only one, who wishes that somebody would do the Red Car in resin. There was one cast in the 1990's but I never got it. I LIKE the Red Car. Over the Top Goofy, but unique.

Revell '70 Pontiac Firebird 2'n1 1/24
stavanzer replied to KT EASTMAN's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I remember reading reviews when the '70 came out, that called it a modified re-tool of the '78 kit. Larry Greenberg was vocal in calling it such and praising the kit. I wish that the '80 Turbo T/A would get re-issued. They've gotten quite rare now. -
That is Phil Slivers, in "It's a Mad,Mad,Mad,Mad World"

Revell Olds Cutlass 442/ FE3-X kit review
stavanzer replied to GMP440's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
You have both saved me money, by showing me the contents of kits, that I 'thought' I wanted, and cost me money, by showing others, that were not on my radar, that I had to purchase. Your obvious excitement and sense of fun, show through. My 8 year old Grandson and I are building the "Hex Marks the Spot" kit, and your video review and build has become our guide. Who ever it is that is causing you trouble, "Name 'em, and Shame 'em". What lousy folks. Thanks for your efforts. Alan -
I have the original High Roller version, that I bought new. Not sure if it had the rifle rack or not. I do know that the rifles were a common part in other issues of this tool. (Chevrolet) Note that this kit retains the goofy '63 Vette style Fuel Injection. A quick (if spendy) fix is to get the intake and Air Cleaner from the '77 Chevy Van. It is close to a drop fit replacement. I wish Revell would re-issue the Step Side Chevy version of this kit.

So, New Grille, New Bumpers, New Wheels, & New Decals? I'll bite.
