Yeah, pretty few and far between lately. -

Krylon also does a good textured spray paint, the coarse works for carpet too. -

That's cool, I like it better than the El Camino. -

If you ever see another one of those Comets, grab it! I will trade or buy it from you. I really like that year Comet, but don't want to pay 80 bucks for a Craftsman kit.

If that's the same one that was in the picture that you posted in the What did you get today thread, you probably didn't notice it because someone put that big orange price sticker right over the bad spot. I don't think I would have seen it either.

I think this one got squeezed into a really small parking spot. -
SOME CURRENT ROUND 2 INFO TODAY...
RichCostello replied to AC Norton's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I have the Great Garages kit, and the stuff in it looks a lot better than this. -
I think you made a silk purse out of a sows rear. I really like the gray with the red.

Maybe I do accept mediocrity, I don't really care. I've got a lot more serious things to worry about than the roofline, or drip rail, or shape of a grill, or yada, yada, yada on a plastic model car. I build for fun, and to take my mind off of those real worries. If I build a 67 Camaro, and it looks good to me, and it looks like a 67 Camaro, and I'm satisfied with the way it looks on the shelf, that's all that matters to me, and if some superstar doesn't agree TOO BAD(for them)I DON'T CARE!

I stand corrected, I guess I wasn't paying attention. Thanks for the info Jordan. -
What kind of crazy talk is this? The kind that I agree with completely, I like both of those, and I'll change the wheels/tires anyway.

Is that interior "rich Corinthian leather" ?

I've had this kit since it first came out. I couldn't think of a good color for it, but I think I've got one now! I like to build day 2 style cars, and I have a couple sets of the Centerlines from the AMT 55 Chevy that I think would look cool on it, with that color. Thanks for the idea!

I agree with Mike, those flat tires are cool. I live near an Auction lot, and they have a 49 Olds that has 3 flat tires, and when the tires went flat, the trim rings popped loose and are sitting crooked on the wheels(something to try, maybe). I like the "no plan" idea, that makes it a fun build.

That's for sure, I got a set of the Mopars from Joseph, and they were great. -

RichCostello replied to Art Anderson's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
You might be right Al, I don't remember the "flareside" name being used till the 80s or 90s. I'm not positive about that, but I am positive that one of the experts will set us straight. It's not going to keep me from buying one though, I think it looks great. -
Not directed at you. I agree with what you said. That doesn't mean that I don't think that the cars that Steve posted can't be considered gassers. The pictures may not be from the early 60s, and the cars may not have met the rules to run in any gasser class, but some people call this style of build "gassers", and I don't have a problem with that. These "FACT" freaks are the same ones who will disapprove of what some people consider a hot rod, or a rat rod, or a muscle car, just to demonstrate their infinite knowledge of everything with wheels. Facts are facts(big deal), but we are rewriting the dictionary every day, and if someone wants to call these cars gassers, who's to say that they're right or wrong. I still think that # is a pound sign, or a number sign, but I'm not going to argue with anyone because they want to call it a "hashtag".

Revell 1970 Dodge Charger Hemi R/T in F8 Green
RichCostello replied to mademan's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I think the white stripe is the way to go. -
It's too bad that a guy can't post some pictures of some very cool cars(gassers in my opinion)without being reprimanded, and corrected by these self proclaimed "experts" who are always right, because they are the know all, end all, be all of the automotive world. Couldn't they just once say "cool pictures", or "nice cars" or maybe if they can't do that, just don't say anything. This place just ain't the same without Harry P.

Give it time, I'm sure it will be shredded here too. It takes a while to find something that's 0.07 100 thousands of a millimeter off. -
It's nice to see one that's not orange!
