  1. Very nice and clean builds! With the angle of the camera and shade under the Monte Carlo, it looks like the real thing sitting in your driveway!
  2. Just finished the Pro Shop '57 today, kit goes together real nice! Thanks for looking!
  3. Just make sure your blade is sharp, burnish it down good, I'll run a sharpened toothpick over where my cuts will be, cut as straight as possible. If you don't like the results the first time, peel it off and try again. I rarely foil the thin pillars on vent windows, I usually paint with silver paint, sometimes there are a lot of different contours in that area and foiling tends to get a thick bunched-up look to it. Small pieces like the gills on the front fenders and doorlocks get a little Future brushed over them so they stay in place.
  4. Floor is red oxide Duplicolor primer, just like the factory did it.
  5. I've been working on this since April, the end is almost in sight! Look for it later under glass. Thanks for looking!
  6. Here I go boring everyone with another '57 Chevy! This one is the Pro Shop new tool from '98. I know there's a great debate over new tool verses old tool, but I'm not getting into that, I like 'em both! This one came with photo etched parts, as well as vinyl hoses. Painted this one with Testors gloss bright red. I didn't use the photo etched side trim inserts as I felt the were to short, I just foiled it and painted with aluminum paint, then rubbed out the ribs. Have a look and see what you think!
  7. has not set their status

  8. Very well done, smooth and clean! Your Impala collection is very impressive, your build of the '60 really jumped out at me, I love the color!
  9. That is a very beautiful and cleanly built Olds Marcos! I hope that I can master the art of paint like you have, until then I guess I'll keep on plugging away at it. Very cool build!
  10. Thanks a lot, Bill! The wife and I celebrated by eating at Applebees after work, then we came home and I foiled a Revell '57 Chevy. I must be entering what we call those "Golden Years"!
  11. Hey Bill, glad to see it finished, it's gorgeous! I really like the lip you added around the trunk opening, I'll be sure to do that when I ever get around to building my Merc! Thanks for sharing your build up of this beauty with us!
  12. I've finished this '57 rebuild from one I did about 15 years ago. Painted Duplicolor red, Crager S/S mags, made my own quarter trim from some HO scale corrugated aluminum, foil cast emblems. Interior trim is silver and black. Thanks for looking!

    Gasser 57

That is a fantastic looking Gasser! I build factory stock 99% of the time, but have often thought about doing a tri five gasser! Your build is very inspiring!
  14. Thanks James! Sorry, I don't have any before pics as it was in pieces for years. I'll try to paint a picture for you though, It had the crappy Testors spray enamel that took forever to dry, built out of the box with the Keystone mags and silver painted trim!
  15. Thanks Bill! The thing about the new tool AMT kit that throws the whole thing off for me is the severity of the dip below the rear quarter window, more Buick like than Chevrolet! Here's a picture of Merlin showing off one of the worst '57 Chevy kits!
  16. I first built this '57 15 years ago, wasn't happy with it so I threw it in a box and forgot about it! I got an airbrush for Christmas, so I needed a practice body. So I stripped the forgotten Belair and went to work. I decanted some Duplicolor red and sprayed away! Wet sanded and cleared. Was pretty satisfied with how it came out so I decided to go ahead with the project! Bmf'd the body and wanted to see what I could do about the rear quarter panel trim without ordering a photo etch set for it. I found some K&S HO scale corrugated aluminum sheet at Hobby Lobby, cut it to fit and and glued it on. Next I foil cast some Belair scripts ( about 15 times until I got it right ) and applied the with some Tamiya clear. I've seen where you can dip the windows in Future, so I thought I would give it shot, and what a difference this makes! I'm using the Crager wheels from the Revell '67 Charger, parts box tires. Finned valve covers from the AMT '55 Nomad, air cleaner from the Revell '55 Chevy with a parts box carb. Have a look and let me know what you think! Thanks for looking!
  17. The whole thing looks just right!

    '59 Caddy!!!!

    As usual Marco's, it's amazing!
  20. You won't hear any groaning from me! I can never have enough '57 Chevy kits, I can't wait till this one arrives at my door, it looks to be the best proportioned '57 Belair to date! It only took over 40 years to get one right! Now I hope Revell stays on a roll and gives us a decent '57 Nomad and a correct '56 Belair hardtop!
  21. The Revell Black Widow kit has two sets of engine halves, one with the Powerglide and one with the three speed manual. It should work in the Belair.
  22. The airbrush is a Paasche H, I'm using the HC-5 aircap.
  23. My daughter bought me a Paasche airbrush for Christmas, so I've been playing around with it this past week. I decanted some Duplicolor Torch Red,[solid color, not a metallic], let it set to let the propellant "boil out", and sprayed a scrap body that I had primed with Duplicolor primer. I tried it setting the pressure at 20, then 25, then went to 30lbs, it came very dry and rough. Do I need to add thinner after decanting, if so what kind? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
  24. Not my daily driver, but have owned this 1981 Monte Carlo for the last 25 years. 168,000 miles and still going! Never driven in the snow! Repainted in 1994. Work truck,1997 GMC is in the background.
  25. Thanks for all the positive comments everyone! The hood trim came off very easily and cleanly. I used a razor saw to cut it to the hood width first, the cut it from the grill with the backside of a #11 blade, from the grill side. I sanded the cuts smooth, BMF'd the bottom of the hood bar, [i probably could have painted it black],painted the grill gold and gave it a black wash.
