It's a 396, or it could be a 454 or whatever displacement big block Chevy you want it to be! I'll just call it a 396 since it's a stock build and thats how it's badged on the front fenders!
Thanks for the comment! I used Duplicolor Truck Van and SUV paint. It came in an 11oz can and was called medium blue metalic. I've had the can for years, I don't know if it is still available or not. I just primed, sprayed the paint and then rubbed it out.
Spring is finally here so that means not a lot of time at the bench! I finally got some things done on this Chevelle, it's coming around slowly. I have finished the engine, wheels done, interior and chassis fitted to the body.
Thanks for looking!
That is just one gorgeous Ford! Thats just the way I like a custom, nothing overblown, or heavy body mods, and it still has a Flathead, and a beautiful one at that. I'll have to keep looking at this one, it"s real eye candy!
Thanks for the comments guys! Yes, this is the Revell kit, the California wheels re-issue. I have the AMT version also, I don't know how it stacks up against this kit yet.
I've been working on this the past month, painted with Duplicolor then buffed out. BMF done, Interior finished. It's on to the engine next.

Here's a picture of our late cat Ariel. We have had her since she was a kitten for 18 years. This pic was taken on Easter about 4 years ago. 6 years ago we about lost her until our Vet found out she was a diabetic. After having insulin shots daily she was in pretty good health until this January when she gradually stopped eating. When there was no more that could be done for her we had to make the painful decision to put her to sleep. She was a good companion for all of us and we miss her dearly. We are just thankful to our Vet Dr. Lange for the 6 extra good years we had with her.
Yes, it's too bad they had to screw up the tooling for this kit over and over. I bought two of these for $5 each, I made a stock '69 out of it.
It took a lot of clean up, but I'm happy with the results. This was just something I had to try!
Bill, thanks for showing your in depth works in progress, I'm just amazed at the way you open the panels and take care of any large gaps, one of these days I'm might get brave enough to open up some panels and I can learn a lot here! The gaps are the one thing that scare me, I wouldn't want it to look like a die cast!
Your Cougar is going to be gorgeous!
I just finished this today, painted with Duplicolor inside and out, added Polyglas tires from parts box as the kit tires kind of suck!
Thanks for looking!
My last 3 builds have been Chargers, I thought I would make it 4. Painted with Duplicolor to represent '68 QQ-1 blue with blue interior. I added ignition wiring and hoses to engine.
Back when I was in high school, I had a '68 this same color with a white vinyl top and 383, I'm saving that for a future build.

I agree with you Dave! I was shocked the last time I was in the hobby shop and seen the prices on the new Revell releases! I stayed away from the Model King kits because of the price, now I guess everything is off limits now! And I am the type of guy that would buy multiples of the same kit if I was impressed by it enough! It looks like those days are over!
I agree totally! What I like to see is an accurate body, interior, and wheels placed in the right place in the wheelwells! A nicely detailed chassis is great, but if everything else is off the mark, whats the point. I look in my display case and none of my models are sitting upside down on their roofs anyway. Compare a 1960 AMT Pontiac Bonneville with a newer tool Trumpeter '60 Pontiac and see which one looks more true to the 1:1 car. Newer tool does not always equal better!
