  1. Wow. Just...wow. The level of detail is off the charts.
  2. Neil's son is handicapped, and because controllers weren't designed for mobility limited people, Neil purchased a stake in Lionel so that they would introduce a redesigned controller. And yes, James May's Toy Stories actually had two episodes all about model trains. Season 1 had an episode that did not end how he wanted it to. The mission failed. So in season 2, he redesigned the track and tried again. This time, with much more success. Personally, I thought the Airfix Spitfire episode was the best one.
  3. Although I've never given any away, I do cruise around in hopes of finding discarded kits! It's funny, because people put furniture out. Couches, chairs, tables, lamps, etc. And every year, those crazy teens will set up some comfort at the skatepark. There will be a full living room set up at the skatepark. Sofas, loveseats, tables, lamps. You name it. And of course, like clockwork, the fuddy duddies will be complaining on the local facebook page about those darn kids. And I'll chuckle, because that's exactly the sort of harmless nonsense I did as a youth.
  4. Getting a lot done with the garage cleanout. Loaded up a ton of old paint, chemicals, car batteries from both our garage and my mother in law's garage. Filled the back of the truck. Then off to the EcoStation where they allow us to drop this stuff off for free. This weekend, our town is holding what they call the "Treasure Hunt" where people are encouraged to place unwanted items on the curb, and then people can drive around and pickup whatever they want. It's like a free town-wide garage sale. And then on Monday, anything that's left on the curbs is picked up by the town and disposed of. So I'll be getting rid of all kinds of other stuff from the garage and the shed. Spring cleaning. Yee haw!
  5. I can't image why anyone would want to live somewhere an HOA exists. That whole concept just baffles me. To think that neighbours can have a say as to what kind of plants I put in my front yard, or what colour I paint my front door? I've heard about HOA having rules about what you can park in your driveway. It would be just constant nonsense and petty BS. Thankfully, HOA are virtually non-existent in Canada. Of course, we still get those people that complain about kids playing in the front yards on a Saturday afternoon. Devil's advocate. 1. He parked far from the doors too, knowing it would be easier to get his truck in and out of the spot. And if he has to load lumber or something into the back, parking far away helps ensure he'll still have access to the box of his truck. 2. He saw your car and knew that because of your car's condition, and where you parked, that you are careful and wouldn't be doordinging his truck. 3. to be fair, he is parked well within his stall. Of course, he didn't need to park right next to you. He could have left a space. It's like using the urinal right next to someone, when there's a whole wall of empty ones. It's just weird. And he's driving around with the tow mirrors flipped...with no trailer.
  6. Cool! Seeing those Belvederes in assembly reminds me of the footage from the Detroit plant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4koPfEQVo44
  7. Yes, I think I read that when he was on tour, he would always bring his workbench with him so that he could work on parts of the track from the various hotels around the world. Nightlife? Parties? Art galleries? Nope. Building scenery for his train set! I am reminded of the Trailer Park Boys episode where Bubbles and the boys head to a train show in the US to see Patrick Swayze's train set. And then Sebastian Bach from Skid Row discusses his love of model trains. Then Bubbles stole Swayze's train. There is language in this clip, so do not click if you are offended by words starting with f. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAbZi14-i6s
  8. Yup! They've done a very simple 1/24 version, and a 1/20 version too.
  9. With bright red, that pink Tamiya primer makes a huge difference!
  10. Looks awesome! But upon reading the thread title, I thought this would be a different Lonestar RV.
  11. It's amazing what you can do when you're semi-retired and have as much extra time as you want. And a space large enough to do it. Ohh, and Rod Stewart's bank account!
  12. More pics? Car looks like it's coming along well. Much cleaner that the last pics you posted here!
  13. Finally cleaned the garage from a winter of accumulation and got my workspace back. It's still chaos, but at least I have room to work.
  14. I'm going to say the truck would fit. The antenna base is the 68" mentioned above, and the mast is about 6 inches in height. I think you should be fine in a 6ft overhead door. Head to the dealer though, and ask for a demo drive. Tell them straight up you want to see if it will fit in your garage. Also, the base FWD version is the same height as the XLT or Lariat. Unless you add the Tremor package, which adds an inch or so to the height.
  15. You and I are on the same page with these trucks! But mine will not look like your last one. Will have a different vibe for sure.
  16. So I was looking at my 454SS kit last night and brainstorming. I'll be building this part of the project first. Truck itself will most likely be silver and black, with some sort of a "pinstripe" in a bright colour. Still thinking about that. Definitely no chrome. Interior various shades of black/grey, with some of the exterior highlight colour brought in. 3D printing seats for it. I have a few different thoughts here. Also doing the newer style dash in this one. Body mods will include a rear roll pan, rear spoiler, new style grille, smooth front bumper, and a splitter...which I'll probably have to make from styrene. Wheels will be a two piece, in a scale 19" diameter. Big brakes behind them. Engine will be a 572 with a supercharger. Upgrading the transmission, rear end, and exhaust too. And the entire thing needs to be lower. Not slammed, but definitely lower. Lots to do, lots to print.
  17. It sounds good, but will see if my skills and/or my schedule cooperates!
  18. Snake is apparently doing fine, health-wise. From what I understand, he's just choosing to take a board break at this time.
  19. I was brainstorming this last night, And I think I have a pretty cool build in mind. Three builds, actually. A C3500 crewcab duallie, using 3D printing and parts from my OBS wrecking yard. A 20ft car hauler trailer, fully printed An AMT C1500 454SS, with a number of upgrades. It's ambitious, and will take a while, but should look cool when done. I hope.
  20. No, headache rack is from MODELLBAU1ZU24 over on Cults. https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/headacke-rack-trucks-1-24-scale-v3
  21. Just thought of this last night. With the recent re-release of the Chev C1500 truck, I think a revised and improved 454SS is inevitable.
  22. Excellent work! The more I look, the more details jump out at me.
  23. My predictions...another iteration of the new Dodge Charger tooling. And another new Bronco. Different trim level, maybe possibly a 4dr/
