  1. Maserati made a Gran Sport in the early 2000s as well.
  2. Why do I get the sense that if these forums were an office building in 2018, the parking lot would look like this? The fact is, vehicles today are designed for exactly what people are looking for. Just like the vehicles of the 80s and the 70s and the 60s. The features, the looks, everything is based on what people are looking for. In terms of spirit, this new Blazer is exactly the same as the Blazers of the 70s and 80s. And manufacturers are not building cars for the declining senior citizen market. They are designing for those that make up the majority of the car buying public. And those 25-40 year olds want electronics, connectivity, smaller efficient engines, more features, less servicability. Essentially, they want the opposite of what older people want. As for the elders...
  3. As a longtime Porsche fan, I'll be watching. The RS cars are my favourite of all the Porsches. The ultimate dream car for me is a 964 RS, a little newer than this one, but of the same spirit.
  4. Bro-dozers that have ridiculous lifts and stupid wheel/tire offsets are the norm around here. In certain parts of Alberta, I think it's mandatory that you have to modify your trucks. Heck, I get these guys in here, and we build them and lease them. Whatever the customer wants, we supply. $100k pickups with lifts, big tires, bumpers, winches, lighting, etc; and they will never get used on anything more than a gravel parking lot. Ugh.
  5. Not exactly what I would put the Blazer name on, but I kind of like it. Depending on the sizing, and the class of vehicle its going after, I think it'll do well. Heck, wifey's Volvo XC90 is on the books to be replaced next summer, if the size and numbers make sense, a Blazer RS could make the list of viable replacements. It looks too small for us, but it's something I'd consider. I think some people hold nostalgia too closely. It's just a name. Why not use a name that has some recognition? The original Blazer was of course a full sized truck based SUV that fit with the brand at the time, and fit the needs of the people. The S-series Blazer of the 80s and 90s was also truck based, and was smaller, and less capable, but fit perfectly with what people wanted. Now this one. As far as I can tell, not truck based, but it fits with what people shop for, and what they want in a vehicle. If this had any other name, no one would be up in arms. It reminds me of all of those poeple who complained about the XJ Cherokee back in 1984. Then it sold millions. And those who complained about the new KJ Cherokee/Liberty back in 2002. And it sold millions. And all of those who complained about the new KL Cherokee in 2014, and it continues to sell at the top of its class. Or maybe the blue oval folk who freaked out about the Bronco II back in the 80s. The one that also sold millions, and became the Explorer which also sold millions, before it became a station wagon. And just wait until the new Ford Bronco comes out. I think those expecting a truck based V8 SUV are going to be in for a shock.
  6. Here's some factory weirdness. This is the Volkswagen Golf Harlequin. They made these in a very limited run back in 1995. Pretty standard mid-level Golf; 2.0L 4-cylinder, manual or auto, heated seats, AC, came with hubcaps not alloys. Seat fabric was a little different. And then there was the paint. These came in four colours. The cars were officially registered by using the colour of the rear quarter panels. They came in four specific patterns based on that rear panel. I worked for VW throughout the 90s, and my dealership got three of these in; a red, a blue, and a yellow. We set one up as a demo unit, and I got more attention with that than in almost any Porsche i brought home. They are insanely rare today for a couple of reasons. First, they just didn't build many for North America. Second, a lot of people, and a lot of dealerships ended up painting them. I know one dealer than swapped panels and made one fully red car, a green, a blue, and a yellow. I still want one.
  7. These look great. Big fan of your builds!
  8. The colour match is perfect, but just like painting 1:1, matching that flake is a serious challenge! I like it, looking forward to the finished product!
  9. My daughter is 10, my son is 13. We had a few years of pretty constant iCarly playing in the house. It always seemed like the adults on the show were contantly yelling. And Spencer was actually pretty funny. lolz Anyway for me it has to be either Kate Beckinsale or Gillian Anderson.
  10. Really?! iCarly?! lolz I was more of a Sam Pucket guy than a Carly Shay, but I wouldn't disagree.
  11. By "real truck" I mean that it's no longer a workhorse. It's GVWR is drastically reduced, those wheels/tires limit where it can haul, and it has the capabilities of a chassis cab one ton pickup! It is most definitely real and in existence though! Google Jason Thorbecke or Thorbros.com. Tons of build pics and other pics. And apparently, lowered Loadstars is now a a thing. And this Thorbecke guy does a few of them!
  12. Thanks guys. Sounds like I have a lot of scratchbuilding and plastic surgery ahead of me if I want to build one!
  13. Question for the experts: Has anyone ever made a kit of the four door 1958 Plymouth Belvedere? Obviously, there's a rather common two door kit we all know. I have two of those myself. But I want a four door version. Any thoughts?
  14. Yeah, I know it's not accurate, but it's close enough for what I want to build. I have a theme in mind, to go along with a couple of other builds.
  15. Picked up one of these. Another EBay score for way less than I've seen anywhere else. I guess the deals are still out there if you're patient. Anyway, I know it's not 100% accurate, but for what I'm after, it doesn't need to be. Brand new, factory sealed, and I have initial impressions. Gotta love the chrome. It's not silver, it's more of a blotchy yellow chrome. Into the purple pond it goes! And I'm not sure whay they would put the parts trees into the palstic bags and wrap them so tightly. The bag was tight, no slack at all. Fits in my hand. Ahh well, nothing damaged, so it's all good.
  16. I'm a huge fan of the Kindig builds. And your scale version looks great!
  17. The new one seems very Ferrari-like to me. Definitely a long enough wheelbase to fit that next gen LS V8 they're working on.
  18. And it looks like it is actually happening this time. Expect it in 2020.
  19. I don't know which is better; your build or the super realistic photos! Excellent work!
  20. Love the performance, love the build, but personally I would have started with a different car. Still...awesome. Owner seems like the typical drag guys I meet at our local track. Super humble, genuine guy.
  21. Those Winged Warriors are still my fav muscle car. I became aware of them and fell in love with them after reading a Car & Driver article back in the late 80s. I was maybe 15. Article features a Hemi Daytona, black with white stripe o nthe back. So much want these days. Still can't afford one though!
  22. Another great trade experience. Have no worries if you trade with afx!
  23. Why do I love this truck so much? Yes, I know it's not a "real" truck anymore. But I think this thing is awesome. And he does use it to haul stuff for his business.
  24. I grabbed a few over the past week. Been wanting the Tyrone Malone trucks for a while, and the Volvo was too good a deal to pass up.
  25. In Canada, we have a joke about the seasons. We have two: winter and construction. Well, the small town I live in is takeing that seriously this year. First, they start construction on a major north/south road last summer. However, they forgot to get a permit from CN Rail when it came to work around the tracks, so that has been delayed for a year now, effectively cutting a subdivision off from the rest of the town. So that road is supposed to be done by fall. Now CN Rail has said they are twinning the tracks through town. Which will affect the four north-south roads the tracks cross. The main north/south road is being widdened and repaved this summer and next spring. One of the main east/west roads is also being widened and repaved. So from where my subdivision is, three of the four main access roads are being completely redone. Let's take on literally EVERY major road project at the same time. Will be nice when done, but it's going to be a frustrating summer.
