The Chev cabover will probably make its way into my stash. As will the tanker. Wish the tanker was 1/24 though. I have a build in mind for it. Thinking about it...I have two builds in mind for the tanker. Hmm...

I love these things. A few months ago I received a cheque for an "Optical Drive" class action suit. I got $20 because I bought a computer with a DVD burner in the early 2000s. I don't even understand it, but they sent a cheque, so its all good. I think I bought lunch with it.

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
iamsuperdan replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I've done it once. Back when I was 16, we did our semi-annual family trip back to England (my parents are both from Southampton.) We went to a pub one night and dad had a few beverages. Mum doesn't drive a stick. So that left me. We had a Ford Escort wagon, circa 1989 or so. I got to do a 10 minute drive back to my grandparents' place. -

I have an IG account I use strictly for models. That's just about the only social media I participate in. I visit other forums, but I wouldn't call myself an active participant, or even a regular visitor. I don't spend a ton of time online. So many other things I'd rather be doing...in real life. -
What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)

Although I'm sure there are cool rentals, I booked an SUV of some kind. Same size as a Ford Escape. I hoping for something I can't get here, like a Citroen or something. Booked it as a manual as well, to save a few bucks. And unfortunately, even if available, an E-Type or MG would be no good, as there is no hope I could squeeze my 6'6" body into one. -

Yeah, but I would hate to arrive in the UK, go to pick up my rental, and then discover I can't rent a car without it. Cheap insurance, I guess. -
I know you posted this as a joke, but... 1. if I could program the Jetson's bubble car sound to my Lightning, I 100% would do it. Either that or a TIE Fighter from Star Wars. 2. It exists. For real. No joke. https://www.borla.com/products/active-performance-sound-for-electric-vehicles

Every Wednesday evening, the Ferrari Club of Alberta organizes a "Cars & Coffee* event. Last night, they held the annual "Lemonade Stand Day" event, with all funds raised from the sale of lemonade going to the Stollery Children's hospital. All part of the hugely successful Racing For A Cure events Edmonton has every year. http://www.racingforacure.ca/ The event is technically one weekend, but they do car related fund raising all summer. Anyway, here are some pics from last night. Before the rain showed up.

AMT 1/25 2021 Bronco First Edition
iamsuperdan replied to Jordan White's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
From what I understand, Round2 has dropped hints that this is the first of several new Bronco kits. I would almost guarantee a 4dr version is coming. -

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Driving_Permit I've never had one when travelling to, or driving in the US, but it was recommended by both of the English rental car agencies I spoke with. So for $30 CDN, why not have one? If I need it, I've got it. ? -
https://www.fiaformulae.com/en Been going for a few years with no issues. Many a spectacular crash too. https://www.fiawec.com/en/classes/32 Hypercar class is hybrid, and have large battery packs too. Again, been a few years, and no issues, many crashes. Race series like NASCAR or Indy will most likely switch to biofuel or synthetic fuels. At least for a while.

Other model car forums

Not to burst your bubble, but if we wanted to eliminate threads about other boards and prevent discussion, we could, and there's nothing anyone could do about it. The fact is though, discussion of other sites doesn't bother us. We know what we have here, and we like. Others like it too. And like a lot of other people here, us mods are members of other forums too. And if people want to leave and try other places, that's totally fine. Just like they do here. People show up, check it out, and many leave. That is one thing everyone does have the freedom to do. Anyway... I've definitely noticed that the demographics here versus social media are much different. The younger generations typically don't seem to be into the forums. It's all YouTube and IG and Reddit. The Reddit model forums are quite active, and have a very different type of build compared to here. A lot more Euro and Japanese subject matter, not as much in the way of hot rods or muscle cars. It's still there, but not as prevalent. It's kind of the opposite of this forum.- 102 replies

The Teslas are really nice to drive, but I wasn't overly impressed with the fit and finish. If you get a chance, check out the Ford Mach-E, especially in GT trim. Or the Hyundai Ionic 5. Both really nicely done, and really nice to drive.

No torque band with an EV. It's full power, as soon as you step on it. The acceleration is awesome and instant. It feels different than a big V8, but the gratification and speed is most certainly there. Plus the Mach-E has a "race mode" that turns off almost all of the safety nets. You can get it sideways and smoky. There's a reason a lot of companies are doing EV conversions in classics. And why some of the editors from the muscle car mags have created this. https://www.evbuildersguide.com/home-new/ It's a different kind of fun and muscle.

As has been mentioned, ZFMW is basically only doing 3d print files now. I've downloaded and printed a lot of his wheels, and they're fantastic. The file quality and detail are just awesome.
