Porsche GT3 Road Version and Racing Version Differences?
iamsuperdan replied to oldcarfan's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Rear spoiler is slightly larger on the race version. Haven't looked too hard, but both kits might come with both spoilers. I have both, and can have a look later this evening if you wish. -
Well, I don't know what you're talking about with the paint job being just "alright." I think it looks fantastic. Excellent colour choices.

New Mustang Mach E

Yeah, they're faster, but the flappy paddle shifters are not as much fun as rowing the gears. I used to work for Porsche, and the manual trans 911 Turbo was just so much more enjoyable than the PDK car. Zero to 60 is only 3.4 sec as opposed to 3.1? I could live with that. I've since been able to drive a lot of cars in both the manual and semi-auto / auto versions. I'll take the slower manual every time. -

I can only imagine. A pure EV with a Corvette badge on the front. Just wait until next year when the Charger EV finally hits the streets. Same thing. Heads...exploding everywhere. lolz -
New Mustang Mach E

Making the front open would be a disappointment. it's just a trunk. Nothing to see. Can't even see the motors or batteries unless it's in the air and has covers taken off. Would make a decent curbside. Like the new ROG Audi e-tron. Or the ROG Porsche Panamera which is basically curbside. -
I'm digging that Supra.

We're on this. Our SSL Certificate didn't automatically renew as it usually does. Our web guru Dave is on the case and will have this resolved ASAP. In the meantime, everyone will be seeing error messages or security messages.

I still don't have my physical copies. And I'm staff! I'm guessing they'll arrive this week. They're always late.

Super nice build, and great photos!

My wife is of Ukrainian heritage and my daughter is quite involved in competitive Ukrainian dance. Combine that with my searching for info on models, and we get some interesting ads at home! Apparently hot Ukrainian women are looking for Canadian men.

Believe me. We wish we had some sort of control over the ads that appear here. But the ads are totally a Google thing. We cannot pick and choose what ads appear on the board. And we definitely get some interesting ones, because of all the discussion about "models." And with "drag models" being discussed here quite a bit, that definitely tweaks some of the google algorithms!

Yay! We are officially in "no pants and horror movie" season!

Did some chrome stripping last night on a truck I'm working on. Finally decided on a colour scheme for it too, hence the chrome removal. Also did some mockups with wheels sizes on a Mustang I've starting. The set I printed for it were much too small, so had to do some measuring to see what works best. Will print up set # 2 tonight.

Well, I am a dad after all. Kinda my duty. ?

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
iamsuperdan replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Sweet! I love malaise-era cars. -
Yeah, their shop is in Ardrossen, which is about 30 minutes east of me. Just outside Edmonton. Crosstown Motors is still around, but they don't do nearly as many cool things now. I rarely see any custom vehicles there. The dealer sticker on the back of the car in the video is from Derrick Dodge, who are also here in Edmonton, and are also still around. Again though, nothing cool these days, just another dealer.

Got hit by a rental car, broke my leg. Hertz.

Every generation has it's own ho-hum family sedans GO back to the 50s. Mid-50s Chev 210 sedan. With that crazy 6-cylinder engine and 135hp. Or go nuts with a 180hp V8. These days, people see that thing as stylish and cool, even with that awkward roof line, but it was the run of the mill family sedan back in the day. And cars like that totally translate to models. The older crowd want their kits of cars from the 50s, and how often here do we see people asking about wheels and inline-6 engines, so they can recreate a base model? It happens all the time. The slightly younger crowd like me enjoy the big boats from the 70s or the malaise of the 80s. Just like the old timers, it's what we grew up knowing and experiencing, and as such, it's what we like building. And what are today's teens and pre-teens going to be into? Most likely the cars they see on the roads, and in their parents' garages and in movies, and in video games and tiktok videos and on YouTube. The reissued Pinto kit has a few different versions and is selling well. Cars don't get much more mediocre than a Pinto. There's demand for the Revell mid-90s Caprice. Again, pretty bland. Hasegawa, Aoshima, Fujimi, and even Tamiya to an extent have all done incredibly well with selling their kits of everyday cars. Look at the demand for the Aoshima Chev Astro van. Or Tamiya's Volvo 850 wagon. And now Revell have their Audi e-tron EV coming out and the pre-sales look to be really strong. So I guess people do actually want cars, even if it is just a fancy four door.
