  1. And there's the rub. Are these features people want/need? Or are they what people have been conditioned to want/need? Either way, the features are here and we're stuck with vehicles that are significantly larger and more complex than their predecessors. Personally, I like a few extras. Heated seats, remote starter, the best headlights I can get, and bluetooth. All the other foo foo stuff I can live without. Most days, I prefer my old OBS Chevs to my new truck. My son as sort of taken over my 99 Tahoe, and my 14 year old daughter wants me to find her an old truck. Old meaning from the 90s. And neither kid likes driving wifey's Volvo or my new truck. They like the old stuff.
  2. Looks awesome. There are Cummins engines available aftermarket, so not all is lost. I'll be placing my order soon.
  3. It's not just government mandate. It's also what people want. Everyone now NEEDs their heated seats, vented seats, massaging seats, dual zone or three zone AC, heated steering wheel, remote starters, park sensors, rear cameras, 360 degree cameras, sunroof, keyless entry, push button start, bluetooth, satellite radio, LED headlights, power tailgates, self-levelling suspension, adaptive steering, touchscreens, navigation, rear dvd, power folding seats, etc, etc, etc. A base model Corolla or Hyundai now comes with more equipment than base BMW or Mercedes models from not that long ago. Heated steering wheel & seats, remote start for example. I work in the industry, and love most of these features. But I fear my truck being off warranty.
  4. Being that it's all VW Group: Volkswagen ID.4 Audi e-tron Porsche Taycan Porsche Panamera e-hybrid Porsche Cayenne e-hybrid I'm guessing of the 4000 vehicles on board, at least 1000 have Li batteries.
  5. I can't post my favourite ones. I'd have to put myself on a 30 day timeout and moderation. But I use these a lot. Especially at work.
  6. When I print a wheel/tire set, or even a complete engine, it's usually around 2 hours. I have my printer layer height set at .04mm. Takes a little longer, but the layer lines are virtually non-existent. The truck body I printed was still at .05mm layer height. The cab took about 5 hours, and the box was about the same.
  7. Has anyone seen a good .stl file of a stock Ford Coyote V8? I'm looking for one for an idea I have.
  8. If had any sort of skills in CAD design, I'd totally try to make and market my own parts. There's lots of stuff I want, but no one seems to make it. Yet.
  9. My favourite clients are the "ever sincers." Ever since you guys worked on my car.....
  10. I wonder though, after watching that video, if the customer is arguing about the diagnosis and claiming work has already been done, then why wouldn't he just show the customer the issues? Take him back to the car, show him what's going on. I always question when I see shops that won't let customers watch what's going on with their cars.
  11. Cross country roadtrip? Probably one of these. COmfrotable ride, lots of room for stuff, large fuel tank so no need to be stopping all the time. Can take a break and eat or sleep whenever I want. Perfect long distance roadtrip machine. But I'm guessing you were thinking something more fun. So an Aston Martin Rapide AMR would do me just fine. Lots of room up front for me and a passenger. Room in the back seats for stuff. Plus lots of rear cargo space. Handles great, comfortable grand touring ride quality. And it's crazy fast.
  12. I like it! The seats look a lot like some of the 80s Corvette seats. Porsche also had some Recaros that were similar, and I'm reasonably confident they have been kitted. Will update this post when I find a source or proof.
  13. I can't believe I'm actually interested in building a garbage truck. lolz. I'd say post up all the pics you can! These pics are great for showing real weathering and the effects of a long life.
  14. Some of the cleanest scratchbuilding I've seen. Excellent work! I think these old Winnies used either a Dodge or Ford V8, so there should be plenty of options to pick from. I think.
  15. Been getting quite a bit of printing done over the past coupler of days, for a couple of projects. Engine, wheels, tires, brakes, plus a couple of figures for a diorama idea I have. Have been playing with print settings too. I lowered the layer height from .05 to .04. Takes a little longer, but layer lines seem to be significantly reduced. Have also been playing with print angles and supports. I've had some really good results printing at 45 degree angles, with the reduced layer height. Also, I change the supports to a lighter/smaller size. Much easier to remove, and no issues with the prints. Had my first print fail though. I printed some wheels, tires, and brakes. Everything printed, except for one brake disc. The platform printed, but no supports or disc. The other items printed just fine. Very strange.
  16. I think they would stick no problem, but I suspect that the clear film surrounding your decals would be much more visible. Of course if you trimmed it super close, it should be fine. I wonder though, would you get the results you're after if you painted the body in glossy paint, applied decals, and then hit it with a matte clear coat?
  17. I think for $10 or whatever, those would definitely be worth trying. I've looked at the Hasegawa Mirror Finish film, and it looks good but is pricey.
  18. I for one am not overly happy about this trend. Mainly because I'm looking for a reg cab shortbox Chev/GMC or Ford. Will be my daughter's first vehicle, and we'll be fixing it up, kind of like I did with the 99 Tahoe I bought and my son now has. But finding anything for less than $5k CDN that isn't a total basket case is proving to be a challenge!
  19. I have one in the stash. I keep thinking about what direction I want to go for paint and graphics. It's a big kit, lots of space to be creative.
  20. As an aside, there are options out there. Depends on how much you want it. I've printed one of this designer's models. Quality is good, with more practice, my prints will be better. Could easily be adapted to an existing Chev kit.
  21. Glad I got mine when I did! And I plan on getting it on the bench very soon. Finally.
  22. Although I would love to see a modern pickup release of any description, it might not be for lack of trying. Surely the Rund2s , Revells, etc of the world recognize the popularity of pickups. I have to think it has been discussed in a boardroom somewhere. It could come down to licensing costs. Having said that, Round2 currently has licensing agreements with Ram, Ford, GMC, and Chevrolet. They've released bot ha 2020 Chev Silverado diecast and a 2019 F150 diecast under the AutoWorld brand. And I have a 2017 Ram Power Wagon diecast, so I know that somewhere, someone can license Ram product. Realistically, any truck kit would have to be a crewcab shortbox, as that accounts for well over half of all new truck sales.
  23. Missed this one when you first posted it. Some excellent work there. Now do Marge's wagon! Or the Canyonero!
  24. Very 70s. Ever tried to Google the artist? Pierre Ch...something. I see art and see the thrift store story and automatically think of Antiques Roadshow. Are sitting on a goldmine? lolz
