I wonder though, after watching that video, if the customer is arguing about the diagnosis and claiming work has already been done, then why wouldn't he just show the customer the issues? Take him back to the car, show him what's going on. I always question when I see shops that won't let customers watch what's going on with their cars.

Cross country roadtrip? Probably one of these. COmfrotable ride, lots of room for stuff, large fuel tank so no need to be stopping all the time. Can take a break and eat or sleep whenever I want. Perfect long distance roadtrip machine. But I'm guessing you were thinking something more fun. So an Aston Martin Rapide AMR would do me just fine. Lots of room up front for me and a passenger. Room in the back seats for stuff. Plus lots of rear cargo space. Handles great, comfortable grand touring ride quality. And it's crazy fast.

Been getting quite a bit of printing done over the past coupler of days, for a couple of projects. Engine, wheels, tires, brakes, plus a couple of figures for a diorama idea I have. Have been playing with print settings too. I lowered the layer height from .05 to .04. Takes a little longer, but layer lines seem to be significantly reduced. Have also been playing with print angles and supports. I've had some really good results printing at 45 degree angles, with the reduced layer height. Also, I change the supports to a lighter/smaller size. Much easier to remove, and no issues with the prints. Had my first print fail though. I printed some wheels, tires, and brakes. Everything printed, except for one brake disc. The platform printed, but no supports or disc. The other items printed just fine. Very strange.

Decals over semi-gloss
iamsuperdan replied to 64SS350's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think they would stick no problem, but I suspect that the clear film surrounding your decals would be much more visible. Of course if you trimmed it super close, it should be fine. I wonder though, would you get the results you're after if you painted the body in glossy paint, applied decals, and then hit it with a matte clear coat? -
I think for $10 or whatever, those would definitely be worth trying. I've looked at the Hasegawa Mirror Finish film, and it looks good but is pricey.

I for one am not overly happy about this trend. Mainly because I'm looking for a reg cab shortbox Chev/GMC or Ford. Will be my daughter's first vehicle, and we'll be fixing it up, kind of like I did with the 99 Tahoe I bought and my son now has. But finding anything for less than $5k CDN that isn't a total basket case is proving to be a challenge!

Revell Cityliner
iamsuperdan replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have one in the stash. I keep thinking about what direction I want to go for paint and graphics. It's a big kit, lots of space to be creative. -
A&N model trucks Dodge pick up
iamsuperdan replied to Mr mopar's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Glad I got mine when I did! And I plan on getting it on the bench very soon. Finally. -
Although I would love to see a modern pickup release of any description, it might not be for lack of trying. Surely the Rund2s , Revells, etc of the world recognize the popularity of pickups. I have to think it has been discussed in a boardroom somewhere. It could come down to licensing costs. Having said that, Round2 currently has licensing agreements with Ram, Ford, GMC, and Chevrolet. They've released bot ha 2020 Chev Silverado diecast and a 2019 F150 diecast under the AutoWorld brand. And I have a 2017 Ram Power Wagon diecast, so I know that somewhere, someone can license Ram product. Realistically, any truck kit would have to be a crewcab shortbox, as that accounts for well over half of all new truck sales.

Missed this one when you first posted it. Some excellent work there. Now do Marge's wagon! Or the Canyonero!

What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
iamsuperdan replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Very 70s. Ever tried to Google the artist? Pierre Ch...something. I see art and see the thrift store story and automatically think of Antiques Roadshow. Are sitting on a goldmine? lolz -
All three look great! I've seen a resin extended cab body that looked really accurate. Will see if I can find a link for you. I'm kind of the same way with the Chev OBS trucks. Have owned a number of them, have loved the body style since it was new, now I just acquire and build variants of them. I always seem to have one on the go.

What non-auto model did you get today?
iamsuperdan replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I'm not a plane guy. Haven't built a plane since junior high school. But it looks like I'm branching out. A few years ago, I picked up a Revell 747 and some aftermarket decals to build Iron Maiden's Ed Force One. Still haven't started that one. Then we found a box full of plane kits in my late father in law's garage. So I have a handful of planes there. Then I have my late dad's stash of 50 or so plane kits. But I've still never been too excited about building planes. Having said that, I've always loved the Spitfire. Just such a beautiful and elegant plane, with a fantastic history. So when I found a new, unopened 1/24 version for sale, for 1/4 of what they retail for, I couldn't turn it down. -

That actually turned out really nice! Other than ride height, I don't think it needs anything changed at all.

What did you learn to drive in?
iamsuperdan replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Learned to drive in my mum's 1978 Plymouth Fury Sport Suburban. That wagon was what I learned to parallel park in, which explains why I can park anything, anywhere! I learned to drive a manual after I got my first job in the auto industry as a lot attendant. 1986 VW Scirocco. -
I'm not huge on live albums, but I do have a few I like. Pink Floyd - Pulse Metallica - Binge & Purge Portishead - NYC Iron Maiden - Live After Death Depeche Mode - 101
