  1. Sleeman's Honey Brown is nice. And I like a good Radler. And even though I originally bought it just for the cool bottle, Iron Maiden's Trooper beer is actually really good.
  2. Woke up on New Year's Day with major flu symptoms. Felt awful all weekend. Got a Covid test on Monday. Got positive results back today. Now i have to stay home until I am symptom-free. Luckily, I can actually do about 70% of my job from any computer, so that's been fine. But I HATE not being able to go anywhere. Technically not even supposed to take the dog for a walk, as that would be outside our yard. Not that I actually want to go anywhere, but I actually can't. Still... it was -30 yesterday. Is -32 right now, and tomorrow morning will be -35 plus the windchill. So maybe staying at home isn't such a bad thing.
  3. Visually, there's just something so...off...with that stock set up. Be it the wheels or the tires, or a combo of both. I think the larger replacements will look much better when done.
  4. Should be back on this shortly. Been out of commission since Saturday. Nasty flu bug around here has knocked me out. Awaiting some test results, hopefully negative for anything worse than the flu. Ugh. I'll be adjusting the ride height on this one too. I want it to sit pretty low.
  5. I don't really plan too far in advance. My tastes are constantly changing, so what I want accomplish right now may not be what I want to work on in a couple of months. I will say this though. I'd like to build my A&N Resin Power Wagon. I'd like to build a replica of my 1999 Tahoe LT. I want to resurrect and finish a couple of zombie builds. A Western Star that is 5 years in the making so far, and an F40 that I started probably 30 years ago.
  6. Well that's a downer. She was a funny lady.
  7. I saw this truck on one of the printing sites yesterday! Looking forward to seeing how this works out for you!
  8. I like the plan.
  9. So I am running an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro, as well as an Elegoo Mercury Plus wash & cure station. Resin is the water washable version, also from Elegoo. Greg, minimal computer skills required! The Chitubox software that comes with the printer is super easy to use. I'm not a computer guy by any means, and I was able to figure it out pretty quick. And the printer, the wash station, and two 1kg bottles of resin were under $600 CDN. All on amazon.ca The Lightning wheels on Cults are the ones I used. Lots of good stuff on there.
  10. First off, Johnny, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. Second, PLEASE everyone, do not make us shut down this thread. We've had reports already. This is not the place for your political commentary. This is a place to support a friend who has lost a loved one. Thanks.
  11. AMT made a GMC-style grille with this kit. You can find them all over eBay. These are my fav generation of truck, so I try to grab/hoard all the kits and parts I can for various builds. I've been looking into 3D printing a lot recently, and have found a couple of options that might work. I'll let you know how those turn out.
  12. I don't normally do WIP threads. Usually find myself just getting lost in the build and forgetting to take pics. I'm going to try on this one. Revell's F150 Lightning. I'm not really a Fast & Furious fan, but I am a big fan of older trucks. Step one on this was to deal with the wheels. The kit wheels & tires are nicely molded, but are way too small for the kit. Seeing as how I've recently purchased a 3D printer, I figured this was a good kit to start with. So for my first print, I made a new set of wheels & tires. Keep in mind, this pic is before I had cleaned up any of the parts. A quick wipe with a paintbrush cleaned a lot of the residue and stuff off. The download of the files was about $6CDN. And according to my printer software, I used just under $2 worth of resin. Once these get painted, should look much better. The tire lettering is visible, and there are even wear bars in the tread. As far as assembly goes, here is where I'm at so far. More to come.
  13. This is not directed at anyone in particular. The forum rules state no foul language. Is that really that hard of a rule to follow? Ultimately, this forum is owned by an individual. And if he doesn't want foul language or offensive humour on his forum, then that's how it is. And it's a cliché, but if you don't like the rules, no one is stopping you from leaving and/or starting your own model car forum where you can have your own rules. I use foul language all the time, but...shocker...I can switch it off in certain situations! Like when I'm around kids. Or when I post here. This thread is still only one page long, and people are already getting angry, argumentative, and sarcastic. ?
  14. The wheels and tires are totally undersized for sure. I 3D printed a new set that fit much better.
  15. And the Ranger used to be a half ton, the Maverick used to be a car, the Explorer used to be a pickup, the Ramcharger used to be a car, the Charger used to have two doors, the Challenger was once a 4 cylinder Japanese import, Sierra has been a Ford car and a GM truck, Lightning used to be powered by gas. Does a name matter that much? If it's a good product, then why does the name matter?
  16. That's about perfect weather. -15 Celcius or so, and a couple of feet of snow! This whole -30 thing is no fun for anyone!
  17. I like a wnter with a lot of snow and not much cold. Well, we have a decent amount of snow, but we're in the deep freeze right now. -34 degrees Celcius.
  18. After a relaxing Christmas, finally got the new 3D printer unboxed and set up, and am doing the test print now. Looking forward to making some model parts!
  19. I have this one on the bench right now. Not because I'm a FF fan, but because I'm a Lightning fan.
  20. Excellent build!
  21. That turned out really nice, despite your paint issues. I like it.
  22. Been following him for a while. I'm in awe of what he can do. Not something I would ever plan on spending the time to do, but I am envious of his skills.
  23. Just a thought, you could have someone print this, then do some cutting and pasting. https://3dprintable.shop/product/land-rover-defender-110-2011-printable-body-car/ Once I get comfortable with my printer, this is actually a mod I was going to try on one of my Revell LRs.
  24. Exactly this. We had a local shop called Hobby Alley. Lots of RC, but a healthy model section. I spent a lot of money there. Then one day there was a sign saying they were shutting down. Spoke with the owner, and it was the same story. The RC people would go in and ask questions, then go online and buy. Then come back for help with assembly. He got fed up and implemented a "diagnostic" fee. And of course the RC guys complained that this was no way to treat customers. He finally got fed up and shut it down. Now my nearest hobby store is located on the opposite end of the city.
  25. Well that is certainly...unique.
