Cool Pat. I like you taking pictures in the shop. Gives it that "we're gonna fix this up" feel. Looking forward to more. David

This is my finished build for the 11th Annual 24HR of Daytona Group Build on Face Book. My second year, didnt finish last year, but got this one done in 21.5hrs. Not perfect, but I'm happy with the results considering the time frame. Kit is Tamiya, paint is from Gravity Colors added in Tamiya's PE set for the kit, didnt use all of it as some of the parts are just so small I left them out due to time constraints. Now that its done, I'll likely go back and add them in, once my eyes readjust. Some pics. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

Nice additions Ismael. Looking good. I've already stripped and repainted my C7. I too, like Jim, and doing the 2014 Pratt and Miller Test Mule. My decals are ordered and shipped today. Here's a shot of them. Hosted on Fotki Good luck, still watching. David -

Ismael, Sorry to hear you're having so many fitment issues with yours. After reading your post on it I completely dry fitted mine, glass, dash, cage, all the way down and mine fits really good. Even the ride height on mine isnt as bad as some of the others I've seen around. Not sure why yours seems to be so terrible. That said, I had a tragic accident with mine, I accidentally dropped a full bottle of Vallejo silver all over the top of mine right after finishing all the decals and before I had a chance to clear it. After many choice words and a couple days to cool off, its been stripped and reprimed. New decals are on the way. Keep it up, I'm really liking all the mods you're doing to yours. I'll have to "borrow" some for my second build, plan on doing a 2016 version like yours, 2nd time around. David -
Progress is slow. I'm not rushing too much, its a long race. Adding photo etch prior to paint. Hosted on Fotki All the parts ready from primer. Hosted on Fotki Primer on, Hosted on Fotki Short break to re-hydrate and watch some racing. Colour shortly.

I'll try Shaun. But IMSA will have live updates as well as streaming I'm sure. I'll be watching via web streaming, probably on You Tube as I dont have any sports channels on my tv package, too much money for very little use. I generally live stream. Once I figure out from where I'm going to watch I'll put a link up for it.

Tomorrow, well later today now, is the 24HR of Daytona and this will be the 11th year for the Face Book group build. This year for my build I am doing Tamiya's Calsonic Impul GT-R. Hosted on Fotki I'll be using Tamiya's PE set with kit along with some A-Club antennas and paints from Gravity Colors. Hosted on Fotki As per the rules, we're allowed to add up to 4 pieces to the body so the glue will be dried and you can save a little time on body prep. I've de-chromed the roof panels (well half) as the version of the car I am doing has a blue roof with the chrome rear window. This is the shot of the roof masked off prior to being de-chromed. Hosted on Fotki And I went ahead and replaced the filter in the spray booth and washed it down in preparation for tomorrow's build. Hosted on Fotki Paint is as follows, Zero Paints primer, nice new 250ml can. Gravity Color's Calsonic Blue and Anthracite Black for the chassis, and Scale Finishes Light Gun Metal(very silvery colour) for the wheels. I may use a small amount of carbon fiber decals as well pending on how time goes. Everything will be cleared with GC's multi-use gloss clear. I'll be posting progress pics through out the day and into Sunday. Thanks for looking. David

Jeremy's stuff is great, and as Jim stated, he makes up parts in a big batch, boxes, ships to the US for redistribution. Shipping with Canada Post the last year or so has been very expensive. I've purchased kits from Ebay to have shipped to my sisters place in the US and the cost is anywhere from $4.50ish US to $12 US pending on the vendor. I've traded a couple kits with some guys from the US last year and shipping from Canada to the US without tracking was about $16 CDN and with tracking around $22 for a normal sized Revell/AMT/Monogram box. Jeremy's system saves money, but takes abit longer. Also, I know last year his girlfriend/wife was having some health issues and he was spending a fair amount of time with medical appointments. I dont know if that is still a factor, but if so, it'll eat up some of his time too. Hope everyone gets their stuff soon, and if you havent gotten any of his goods before, you'll be happy, very nicely detailed items. David

Or maybe a race trailer w/tractor to help hide us from those pesky State Storm Troopers?
-
Looking good Bruce. Adding decals? Or just going black on red? You're gonna have yours done before mine even ships. Oh well, got the rest of the year to work on mine, you're gonna have to pick another kit and do a double run. David
-
HAHAHAHAHA! I have a ton of kits like that. I've been doing the same. Trying to pull out some of those very near completion so I can finish them off. Good luck. David

Looks pretty good to me. I'd love my black paint jobs to come out that nice. Looking forward to seeing more. David

As many of you know the 24HR of Daytona is this coming weekend. There is a Face Book group that honours this race with a group build over the duration of the 24. If you are going to be around and would like to participate you can join the group HERE . As of now there is somewhere around 77 people signed up to build over the duration of the race. This will be the 11th Annual build and there's probably more than a few members here that are already participating. Please go to the FB page to see the rules, there's like 4 and sign up to join. You can post progress pics on the FB during the race and also track how and what others are doing. Last year was my first year participating and I was pretty amazed at the quality of many of the builds that people were able to achieve in just 24HRs, even the builds that didnt quite make it. Thanks for looking and, please join up and help push the number of builders up over 100. David

Revell 67 Camaro- Source for flat stock hood
Jhedir6 replied to mademan's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Mike Like this? Hosted on Fotki Hood is from an AMT 67 Camaro. I just set it ontop of the new Revell '67 and the outside edges would need to be shaved ever so slightly and the outer edges of the center "hump would need to be narrowed as well, but its really close I wouldnt think it would be much work at all. If it will do PM me. You can mail me a padded envelope with postage paid and I'll send it to you. Its got a light coat of primer on it but it can be sanded out np or striped. I live in Canada too so should only take a couple days each way. The kit body got killed ages ago so its just been sitting in a box for more years than I care to think about. David Sorry for the blurry pic, but it doesnt look that bad in person. -

Ryan, Most of the hardware you can buy comes with material for the belts. Model Master sells just the hardware, some others too, but most do include some type of material for belts. Ebay is a good source. Pending on where you live most hobby stores carry PE and aftermarket stuff, you may have to ask at the counter tho. For me, not alot of hobby stores close by anymore so I just order online. Check ebay under ...toys and hobbies, then model kits, then automotive and then type in seat belts in the search field, you'll get a decent list. Find some you like then you can google the brand/model number and find an online vendor that carries them. -
PM me your address. I might have an unstarted one kicking around the hobby room. I'll check later tonight when I get home to see if I still have one or not. For the antenna trick I use the same method to fill in license plate mounting holes on the front of cars if I dont want a plate there, like on my McLaren 570S. Just stretch out the spur, snip in half, add some CA glue to the holes and jamb in the thinned out spur, like this: Once dry just snip off, sand out and then you're ready to prime.
-
Welcome Ryan. You picked a relatively difficult kit for you first build. I'm assuming its one of the C5-R's. They have a decent amount of fitment issues. My suggest is to take basically all the major components off their trees/spurs and dry fit everything so you can see how it will go together. One of the most notable issues is the ride height, especially in the back, it sits way too high. Check the Tips section and read some threads, you'll find alot of useful help. Ask questions, the only stupid question is the one you havent asked yet. Even if its been answered before someone with answer it again or point you to a thread that already deals with it. Check out Ismael's build of the new C7-R, two generations newer yes, but there are alot of similarities in the cars, enough that you can see the direction yours will be heading. For your antenna question, simple, make it yourself. Take a long piece of extra spur/tree, free of junctions. The ones that run along where your chassis was attached are perfect. Then, take a cigarette lighter or a burning candle and heat the middle while gently pulling the ends apart, as the plastic heats up it will thin out. Just pull till you have it as thin as you want. Once stretched to the desired length hold it steady for about 10secs away from the flame till it cools and hardens. Cut to length, sand and shape as needed then paint. You can buy aftermarket sure, but this is quick easy and you already paid for the spur plastic anyways. Lastly, have fun. David

Looking good Bruce. That motor looks right at home in there. You're gonna be finished your 'Cuda before I even see my Audi.

I didnt get to the CF decals this week like I wanted to but I'm hoping to in the morning. I pooched the orange paint on the interior and had to strip it, so I'll have to reprime and paint tomorrow and while that's setting up I'm planning on starting on the CF decals. Quick shot of it mocked up. The front of the body looks like its sitting high, but once the front spliter is attached it will pull the front end down to where it should be. No clear yet so the colour will change and should pop more, but I actually really like the coppery look it has right now. Wheels are done in GC's OZ Gun Metal and are not cleared yet either. I've been wanting to build a custom H1 Hummer for a long time but could never find photos of any I really liked. Recently while searching again I came across this and decided I had to try and recreate it. Hosted on Fotki So for a base I'm using a kit I picked up years and years ago at Walmart, back when they sold model kits, here in Canada for cheap. Truth be told I bought a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH load of kits at the prices they were clearing them out for. Starting with Revell's Snap kit of the Desert Storm Humvee Hosted on Fotki Step1, remove the roof and doors. Hosted on Fotki Step2, remove the interior door panels. Hosted on Fotki That's it for now. Hopefully will have some time later today to get a bit more progress done. Seats will be from a couple old rally cars I got in a garage sale lot. Chassis will likely just be box stock as I dont feel like cutting up the underside. Wheels and tires are yet to be determined but they definitely wont be stock. David

2015 Ford Raptor #2
Jhedir6 replied to Jhedir6's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Chassis was painted body colour then I detail painted it by hand. Needs a bit of touch up here and there, but I'm ok with it for a quick build. Hosted on Fotki GT500 decals on the side, they fit good, I'll probably try to touch up the lines for the Mustang body with some silver paint before clear. Hosted on Fotki -
Nice Bill. Love those Javelins. I've been wanting to track one of those down for awhile now. For wheels and tires, cause the kit ones look awful, check out Joesph's stuff at http://www.fireballmodelworks.com/ his 1/24 Minilites and tires would look awesome on that Javelin.
