1968 El Camino base model conversion
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I painted it the same color as the 34 Ford I am working on,its going to keep the SS hood until I can find out if the regular hood is still being made. -
I wanted a dark blue but could not find any I liked so it got rootbeer brown,I also did not like the 34 wire wheels so its getting 53 p/u rims.
-
Sanded the vinyl top and SS badge on the tailgate off and hoping the stock hood is still available, would like to put a six under the hood but will get a small block and will make it look like a 307 2 bbl motor.

Non SS 68 chevelle/Elcamino parts
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I kind of forgotten about the El camino and drug it out to start of the restoration/conversion to base model. -

I tried to buy one that sat in a driveway since 71 but the weather took its toll on it,had only 17,000 original miles and there was a garage that it could have went in but no it sat out.

1970 F100
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The tires that came with it just looked too small in the rear. -

Yes I put larger tires on the rear,I put big and littles on everything. -
I have the 4wd Ramcharger with a broken front axle that I would like to lower and make a 2wd so did Monogram actually make a 2wd Dodge p/u.
-
It only took me over a year to finish it but its finally done,I was wanting to keep the six in it but I had fit issues with it so it got a 302. I think the six will be going in a 53 p/u.
-
That six is just too tall so its going to get a 302,I had trouble with it fitting in the truck so it got a 302 too
-
Was those headers in the original version only,I have never seen them before and have been building them since the early to mid 70s.

Ford Washington blue
junkyardjeff replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I found a Rustoleum dark blue that I like and have sprayed it on a test body to see how it does. -
Going to rebuild it as a non police car with the six from the Mobieus F100 to make a base custom granny car,can not understand why this would have a boss 429 since they were never installed from the factory in the full size car. If I can not make the six fit without major modification I will find a 302 to put in it,never seen a six in a 69 or 70 but seen them in 68s.

Found enough parts to build a sedan and coupe with plenty of extra parts, they will probably be next winters projects since I should be out in the garage soon and have a couple to finish.
-
After getting the 34 p/u wheels off ebay I picked up a parts kit for the front axle.
-
The 37 axle will not work, the spring is in front of the axle where the 32 to 34 it will be on top. I have one that I am trying to make work.
-
34 used wire wheels but AMTs are questionable so I am going to use 40 rims and hubcaps since I have plenty and like them much better, not really going to have everything stock but will have period upgrades.
