Probably because it looks more like a Nova than the Revell kit does.

1969 Dodge “Country Charger” R/T by round2

I think that would be a winner of an idea. I like that a lot! -
1969 Dodge “Country Charger” R/T by round2

That was a different company (Racing Champions 2) Model King was working with. I dont think Round 2 does private runs. -
Great job on an under appreciated kit. Looks great!

That is snazzy! Makes me want to build one the same color but with the chrome reversed wheels. Beautiful build.

That really pops, Tyler! Very cool.

Very true. That's why I said ballpark. Likely you would need three of the roadster bodies to get the right length, or graft the cowl to the 27 body and recreate the door lines. Depends on the degree of accuracy you want to aim for.

Was thinking that same thing on both counts myself.

Funny how plans get derailed sometimes. Couldn't find a good match for the purple, then, recalling a 1966 Hot Rod Magazine cover, I decided on Hugger Orange lacquer by Testors. Because I prefer the AMT Roadster fenders I had to do a little trimming, but I think the results are worth it. Front axle is from the AMT Boyd Coddington Deuce coupe. The Cragars on the front are temporary. I still plan on using the Fenton mags from the MPC 65-67 Corvette kits up front.

Ala Kart a la carte: Part ONE, Compare and Contrast
Dave Darby replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Back 2002, when the new tool Ala Kart was first released I did a pretty definitive comparison of old vs new. 16 years later I still consider the new tool kit to be a hot mess. Like something Trumpeter would come up with. The front tires are nice tho. http://www.bonediggers.com/2-3/alakart/alakart.html#kit -
Certain colors, such as red do cost more. Learned that from building box art models for AMT/Ertl.

Opinion on Revell ProModeler 69 Dodge Daytona kit
Dave Darby replied to shoopdog's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Wow. So other than the body they are largely two different animals. I only had the K&K and I was 13 or so. Loved the kit though. -
Been following this thread for a while. Your build has cool written all over it.

Opinion on Revell ProModeler 69 Dodge Daytona kit
Dave Darby replied to shoopdog's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I had the original MPC kit back when it was new (around 73-74?) I don't recall how much if any they modified the body, but I do seem to recall a racing style interior and dual shocks. I suppose the Dukes of Hazzard changed all that.... -

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso I fell in love with a Mexican girl.... -

I hope they scrapped the tool for those atrocities! Lol.

Another winner Bernard. Looking forward to seeing this progress. -
Opinion on Revell ProModeler 69 Dodge Daytona kit
Dave Darby replied to shoopdog's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm surprised Round2 hasn't popped the Bobby Isaac K&K Insurance Daytona by now. If someone were to just do the decals, the Revell Daytona would be a natural. -
Not a complaint. Just a legitimate review. Put the new one next to the old one and tell me which one looks the most like the real one. This is my build, BTW.

Agreed.

Two words - Way Cool.

Very very nice. Great color choice, clean build.

Very nicely detailed, but like the rear axle, seriously under scale. Likewise, the body midsection isnt tall enough and the front bumpers look fat and oversized to me. (Which exacerbates the not deep enough body). Too bad, because it builds nicely. I did a Pro Shop one as a gift to my brother.
