  1. Fantastic work, wheels, frame and colors all blend together for a nostalgic looking workhorse. Thanks for building these oldies, keeping history alive!
  2. It is actually quite common for truck frames to be painted the same color as the cab, the Movin' On truck frame matches the cab color as well. Yes, all front and rear hubs will be green.
  3. Another nice '65 Flareside reference. Wheels were black for '65. Hubcap was the carryover '61-'64 style. Note stance.
  4. To replicate the low profile oil cap used in Season 2, I cut out the grease cap on the AMT Freightliner wheels and fitted an AMT KW rear axle cover. Will be painted frame color of course.
  5. It is the AMT California Hauler, however it is the second generation 359 with larger windshield and rounded out doors. I'm just a basic out of the box builder, but try to change things up with other readily available parts, both from other kits and from aftermarket resin pieces. The biggest problem with AMT Pete 359's, both older and newer versions is the front fenders. The fenders do not roll down to the bumper, they leave an unsightly gap. Yes they can be extended with some work, but, luckily the Revell 359 fenders are available and work great. Other problem is the front end sits too high if compared to a real 359. By removing the block molded into the front springs , the front end will come down and look closer to the real truck. ,Always preferred the simpler look, so usually build with single exhaust stacks and single air horns even though most all truck kits comes with dual stacks and horns. Usually build with steel type rear wheels, IMO a more realistic look pre mid 70's, where almost all AMT and Revell highway rig kits come with Alcoa type aluminum wheels all the way around. Again, just a preference. I grew up building mostly AMT, so this kit is pretty much like all other AMT kits, they are good, but not at the level of more precise Ertl and Revell kits.
  6. Top photo is typical early 60's shell. Bottom photo is typical late 60's shell. Pickup shells were still pretty conservatively styled in '68, AMT was just doing some wild and crazy stuff.
  7. Great job! IMO, the trailer is a late 50's early 60's design, will go great with that Chevy tractor and a load of same era Chevys.
  8. The quality of the build is fantastic! Your attention to details and outstanding craftsmanship, give the build a super realistic look.
  9. Excellent job on the Mercury conversion! Very nice colors and detailing work. All your pickup builds are fantastic, definitely inspirational for others to build more pickups. Interesting note, if it was a F 100 4X4, the bed would actually be correct!
  10. Moved my attention to the fuel tanks. The Revell VIT tanks leave a lot to be desired, they have an unsightly seem on the ends and appear to be slightly shorter than the Movin' On KW tanks. Purchased some longer Revell KW Aerodyne fuel tanks with the same unsightly ends off ebay, but they are a bit too long. My solution was to slightly cut down both ends of the Aerodyne tank and use AMT fuel tank end caps. First photo is Revell VIT tank.
  11. Fantastic job on the kit bashing! Ford had 3 different style beds in '62, but for obvious reasons, we only see the unibody on this forum. To my knowledge, yours is the first '62 Flareside. Without the MCR cab, this would have been difficult to pull off. Great color choice and detailing work!
  12. Thanks again Hakan for all the extra info. A good publicity photo of the season 2 truck is impossible to find, screenshots are about it. You are very correct about the paint scheme on door and emblems. The interior photo is excellent, missed that one, shows much better detail of the seats with green buttons and red and yellow emergency and parking brake knobs, didn't think they were color coded back then. The black and white reference photo is of great help also. Made some corrections.
  13. Completed the interior, just mixed some off white, some beige, some yellow with green buttons, used the Revell dash decals and AMT steering wheel. Not going to experiment with the exterior color, will use the correct color from Scalefinishes, Ivy Bronze, also called Ivy Glow, a 1973 Ford car color. The exterior of the Movin' On trucks look the same in both seasons, but, if you look closely, there are 3 main differences. I have noted the changes from the season 1 truck in photo. No red dot front oil hubs, no air tank on frame and no bias ply tires.
  14. Nice progress. You would think AMT would have had a C series pumper back in the day, being that they were so popular. Another note on the C series rear springs. They need to be brought down from were the instructions say they should be, to avoid the overloaded squatting down look when the body is installed.
  15. You knocked this one out of the park! Outstanding work!
  16. Body in primer, beginning to look like a KW now, next step is the interior while primer dries.
  17. Unlike the '61-'63 unibody's, the '57-'60 are much easier to kit bash into stepsides, 4x4's and even 1 tons. The 1 ton version's open up a whole new realm of possibilities.
  18. This is so true. The AMT kit was just a quick way to cash in on the popularity of the TV show, total investment by AMT, a decal sheet and licensing rights. I'm currently using the AMT kit for a donor frame, front suspension, hood, steering wheel and engine.
  19. I believe I found a solution for the 10.00- 22" radials tires used in season 2. The Revell Peterbilt radial tires fit the 22" Freightliner wheels. These tires have no size info molded into the sidewalls. They are definitely narrower than the Freightliner 11.00-22 bias ply tires.
  20. There is an ertl die cast 1/25 heavy duty '57 Chevy out there. ERTL Coca Cola 1957 Chevrolet Stake Truck with Vending Machines and Dolly . | eBay
  21. Another vote for 10.00-22 tires. This screenshot off episode "Tattoos" when outer rear wheel is removed. This tire 1:1 might still be available, but made overseas in an off brand. https://leinatyre.en.alibaba.com/product/60813586050-801133334/Truck_bias_tire_10_00_22_11_00_20_11_00_22_Factory_wholesale_truck_tire_with_cheap_price.html
  22. Great job on the GMC! Will be using this one for reference for how the cab should sit on the frame.
  23. Fantastic job on this Road Commander! You have perfected the "in from the long haul look".
  24. Beautiful job on this stake, one of the best built I've ever seen. Great color choices! Really like the door emblem change, should have always been a separate part on the tree. Plan on doing this on a future build with a '61-'63 Ford pickup emblem.
  25. Fantastic work on this build! About the wheels. The problem is the wheels you are using are the large 11.75" Budd pattern, 6 lug wheels used the smaller 8.75" Budd pattern. Scenes Unlimited carried these wheels at one time, not sure if they are still available today thru ST Supply.
