  1. I agree, trailer was an older glue bomb with some missing parts. Will look for some more hooks, great idea for getting the right gap.
  2. Excellent job, looks like a brand new '65. Great attention to factory details and colors, really like the way the grill, under hood, interior and tailgate were done.
  3. Inspiration for the build was the old Aurora kit and a period Ford ad for a '56 T 800. Resin AITM '56 with modified fenders on a donor frame. There is a 534 under the hood mated to a 10 speed Roadranger, Ertl Paystar Budd wheels on tractor, resin Budd wheels on lowboy trailer converted to 2 axles. AMT did plan at one time to do a power shovel, but never happened, luckily there is a Bantam C 35 diecast in 1/25 scale to fill the void for the load.
  4. A small Cummins in a C series would be cool, just some minor backdating of cab to mid 60's
  5. Thanks for all the comments! It was a pretty simple build, just trying to get it to look old school was the main objective. The Autocar hood latches really come in handy for the butterfly hoods. One thing to keep in mind on this older thicker narrow nose conversion piece, the front end doesn't straddle the frame, I had to remove about 1/2" of front frame rails for the proper fit. Finishing touches finally added, Peterbilt decals, longer spotlight, chrome headlight rings and CA license plates.
  6. An older Illini Replica '59 Pete transplanted to the California Hauler frame. Could use a few more finishing touches, but pretty much completed as a curbside since the cab and front end are all one unit.
  7. Very nice weathering and rotting job on the heavy duty workhorse. The 4x4 F 250 is IMO, the pinnacle of the Moebius series.
  8. Good eye! Forgot all about those. AFAIK, the only AMT kit ever to have the full rear hub covers. With a little creativity, they could be carefully cut down to fit the front axle hubs too.
  9. Well, the guy was on a modelcarsmag forum, and zeroed in on aftermarket truck resin 3D, most would assume he probably wants to replicate his rusty GMC in model form. Seems most plausible, but again, who knows.
  10. Right, and also the tailgate. However, has the deluxe molding trim on it, the base model GMC fleetside tailgate has never been done AFAIK. Probably would have been better to start a new thread on GMC conversions.
  11. Honestly, never noticed that, but, they do seem to be excessively large, and really should be painted a flat silver instead of chrome.
  12. Great transformation! I agree, most late model kits look toy like, looks much more authentic with the changes.
  13. Nice work on the cab and modifications!
  14. Very authentic looking build, 2 axle cabovers with sleepers really were the most popular set up for movers.
  15. Nice job! With a little dechroming could have passed for an old Ringsby fleet rig.
  16. Great idea! These beds are all about function. Brush truck in the works?
  17. The beverage body looks great, a natural for a Ford C series or L series! Wouldn't be surprised to learn AMT had secret plans for doing this body back in the 70's.
  18. Typical of this era, mags wheels come standard! Hopefully Rookie Resin will once again offer his excellent period correct Chevy hubcaps. Top photo shows '76 thru around '87 ( aluminum finish ), vans used them into the 90's. Bottom photo shows '69 thru '75 ( painted and stainless), but used thru the '78 model year on base model ( painted only ).
  19. In late 60's-early 70's era, there were only 2 factory wheel sizes for an F 250: 2 piece 16" and 1 piece 16.5". The wheels that have been done by Fireball and Moebius appear to be the more modern 80's 16" 1 piece. I'm appreciative of all the 1/25" 8 lug wheels finally offered by Moebius and aftermarket resin vendors after all these decades, even though they may not be era correct 67'-'72. The thing I don't understand, MPC covered the 8 lug 16.5" beautifully on the 1/20 scale Ford Econoline van (shown) back in the early 70's, all you had to do is shrink it down to 1/25 for a period correct 16.5" 8 lug wheel. I believe MPC widened the same wheel for the 70's Dodge 4x4 kit. Why did we have to re-invent the wheel?
  20. Has been discussed in this thread.
  21. Great job on the medium duty. The flatbed looks very era correct and blends in perfectly. The 8 lug wheels can qualify it for being a heavier duty F 7.
  22. Outstanding job on this '66. Excellent factory correct paint work and the 4x4 stance looks perfect! Very inspirational build!
  23. Right, we have powerful reference tools in this day and age if we want to do them the way the factory did them. Either factory photos or cleanest low mileage original.
  24. The mirrors on these Ford C series trucks are difficult to assemble with just the instruction sheet. A good side view photo helps solves the mystery. Side notes, 8000 emblem for the Cat V8 diesel and white steering wheel and stainless trim in windshield molding are part of the Custom Cab option.
