  1. Great job on bringing the towns old engine back to life! The pumper details and backdating of cab look fantastic, a very inspirational build.
  2. Thanks for the article Hakan, too bad we never got the revised KW conv. with VIT back in the day, AMT would have been ready to go with an accurate Movin' On kit, but at least AMT managed to give us the revised Peterbilt conv. kit.
  3. Interesting, found these VIT's from Kenworth in different colors. Must have been around '76 when the industry was transitioning from 2 piece to 1 piece wheels. Wheelbase on silver VIT appears to be spot on for the Movin' On KW.
  4. That has me worried. The Model Truckin decal sheet shows straight white lines, how that is going to wrap around a round fender opening has me puzzled. Thinking of using a compass protractor with a paint pen around the fender but would have to experiment with a jig and spare fender first. Anyone who has pinstriped a KW fender, please chime in.
  5. Thanks! The original AMT Movin' On kit box art is really misleading, the build really requires a multitude of kits to come close, luckily, they are all readily available.
  6. Paint still not cured properly, assuming not enough hardener, causing delays to the build. Front end, cab, and sleeper mocked up on frame. Will add decals next.
  7. Right, that's the way it was done for the 20" wheels before the aftermarket offerings. The photo shows a center point front axle as well. Maybe a shallower cut Peterbilt rear hub?
  8. Excellent detail work on the CAT, will look very muscular under the hood! Auto or manual trans?
  9. Great choice for paint scheme and decals, looks fantastic!
  10. Thanks for the update, I'm in on these too!
  11. Looks like a high quality diecast, very accurate lines, great job!
  12. X2! Awesome job! IMO, AMT really miscalculated by not offering the standard 8' bed, it makes of world of difference in building an authentic mid 70's 4 WD.
  13. Great subject, the under represented medium heavy duty conventional class. Your fleet is progressing into the 80's! Great start!
  14. Great job on this build, the stance looks great! Note, the AMT '63 F 100 kit came with the same crest design side emblems shown in your photos of the town's pumper, they come up time to time on ebay when someone parts out an older kit.
  15. Hopefully the 3d printer people come thru with a straight 6 for the new '63 F 100. The 223 would be correct for the new '60 F 100 also. Note valve covers were orange-red with black block
  16. The new W 1000 must be replacing the old Autocar for long haul work.
  17. Details look great, really taking shape! Those pre '61 era cabs had extra thick windshield rubber gaskets, almost touch each other at the vertical bar.
  18. Great looking fleet tractor! The paint scheme goes well with the Ford cab, like the detailing and tire and wheel choice, very mid 70's looking!
  19. Here is my attempt at getting the stance correct. I got the higher rear stance by adding a small block between the axle and springs.
  20. Falcon Ranchero straight 6's were a completely different engine family than the straight 6's installed in '60-'64 F series pickups. This looks like an opportunity again for the 3d printing people. 223 F series pickup engine on top, 170-200 Falcon engine bottom.
  21. Yes, thankyou very much for the clear shots of the 5 plates used in season 2. Will have them custom made.
  22. Headliner gets the VIT treatment. Overhead console is a modified AMT Freightliner cabover piece, sun visors custom made.
  23. Nice build! Great color contrasts, nice front push bumper!
  24. Frame components added. More kit bashing, chrome splash guard fenders, pogo stick and taillights from AMT kit, gull wing front bumper, deck plate and rear mud flaps from Revell. Added Per Lux lights to front bumper per season 2 truck (in reality dark louvers over lights), season 1 truck had clear lights in front bumper.
  25. I feel we are on the verge of seeing a lot of high quality subjects that were ignored by big plastic in the past, thanks to the advent of 3d printing. It's just a matter of time till we see the once popular H series Ford or 60's-70's Chevy - GMC tilt cabs done right in resin. IMO, there is a strong market for these classic "glider kit cabs". Plastic donors kits are readily available now, this wasn't the case in previous decades.
