1964 Comet Crash - Opinions?
Joe Handley replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not sure, probably wouldn’t even put it on a trailer until it was fully insured, let alone drive it more than in and out of the garage. -
1964 Comet Crash - Opinions?
Joe Handley replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Look in the comments, the owner/builder commented that so far as they know, the people in the vehicles he hit were ok. Honestly, it sounds like him and Shawn (the passenger) were the ones that took the brunt of the damage, both physical and financial. It also sounds like the owner is going to try and rebuild the Comet too, I just hope he does, he can get that done before he's too old to drive anything, considering he just had liability on it and probably can't afford just had it off to somebody else this time. -
It sounded like the brakes just weren't enough for a car with that level of power, they even looked a little small compared to what my 200 left the factory with, and those were barely suitable for the 280hp and 3600lb curb weight of my car, nearly 4 times the power and likely not much weight difference can't be good, plus it sounded like there wasn't parking or emergency brake of any sorts either. What really shocked me is that he only had Liability insurance at that time, so that was 2-3 decades of work and money and marriages gone in that hit. I didn't like rolling with just that on cars that were sub $3000 cars where Liability cost nearly what I paid for the cars, let alone full coverage, so something that has that much money involved just make no sense.

Did you actually read that article? It more or less said that if you compare driving one of the current EV trucks to a fuel burning Non truck, that fuel burning not truck won’t be as dirty, but if you’re comparing Granny Smith to Golden Delicious, the EV truck will still be cleaner than the fuel burning counterpart.

The McMurtry Spierling, both an EV and a “Fan Car” Looks like shrunken Burton/Keaton Batmobile plus it actually runs and sounds like any of the pre Tumbler Batmobiles we’re made to via movie magic! Here’s a Goodwood video of the car. Then here’s the former record holder, the Volkswagen ID.R, which has been to Pikes Peak as well. There’s not quite a second difference between the VW and McMurtry, though the latter looks a whole lot quicker than just .82 seconds!

Don’t know what they cost now, but replacement headlight assemblies on my 2012 Chrysler 200 were well over $1000 per assembly 10 years ago, and it still used halogen headlight bulbs in projector housings, incandescent turn signal bulbs, then only LEDs are the character lights over the other lights. If the Rivian had LED headlights, those should last a lot longer than Halogen, HID, or just plain old incandescent lights, unless the trucks are damaged in a wreck or vandalized.

IIRC, the A-Team van still has the ‘71-‘77 grill and bumpers in it and other than filling in the plate picked in the left rear door then adding the ribs to the roof, modifying the driver seat to fit that Mr. T figure, then adding the updated grill, bumpers, turbine wheels, and pushbar, the rest should be about the same. I was kinda annoyed that they didn’t change the interior to match the ‘78 and later design the majority of the TV vans had.

When computers don't work properly
Joe Handley replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Makes the irritation I went through yesterday look good, been having issues with my WiFi to my laptop last several days just cutting out mid call then I got booted out of the remote access after my final break, then spent over an hour on the phone with two IT guys, 1st of which was kinda useless and the 2nd that actually got me going enough to finish the last 10 min of my shift. After that was done, I let a supervisor I was logging out for the day and "needed to get away from this thing". Funny thing though, it's been well behaved all shift so far and I have even been booted out of WiFi even once today (just knocked on the wood door frame)?! -
What did you see on the road today?
Joe Handley replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, I saw this a few days ago. Then I thought I saw a Mustang that looked like Harry’s couple miles south of that spot a few days later. -

I love the bed and trunk mounted plugs on those, they’d be great for charging my bigger R/C stuff in the field! -
Nothing kit wise, but did find this really nice little Hot Wheels Lucid Air Sedan while picking up a prescription for Dad (his turn for a sinus infection now that My Sister, BiL, and I are about over ours). It’s really pretty nice for a HW as well, almost looks more like a Matchbox, detail wise!

AMT The Green Hornet Black Beauty Kit
Joe Handley replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Honestly, I’m hoping to see a non Black Beauty stock bodied version of this, though a 2”n”1 combo of the TV and Movie Car would be neat
