For the import fans
Joe Handley replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Probably a combination of the angle of the wheel in relation to camera and it helps show off shape of the wheel design..The teddy bear wheels are a good example of that since it does indicate there is a 3d effect to them, but that would be the same for steelies and poverty caps, or the ornate caps from the mid 50's through the end of the muscle car era. -
I'm a fan of trucks but...

The latter would be more likely with that roofline That was my first thought when I saw the pics of that truck.........followed by I hope this is an elaborate prank, then "Somebody needs to put him on "Howard Hughes Watch" before he completely looses his mind!" The Tumbler Batmobile has a pretty cool story behind it's design, Nolan's scale prototype is a kit bash of car, truck, and plane model kits with R/C parts thrown in for good measure! -
Welp, today has not gone as expected.........
Joe Handley replied to Joe Handley's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Well, things with this just got weird............ I have two Dr's appointments Monday (one was planned and was able to schedule the other since I took half the day off!) and went to look on the app that I can access things that as well as pay bills through to see exactly when they were scheduled to I could tell my parents (Mom asked out of curiousity) and figured that I might as well pay towards the $4,800 or so I still owed on and discovered that $4,400 of that remaining hospital bill had disappeared and there was a note stating that I had paid $4,800 or so of my balance to far?! I paniced and checked the credit card to make sure I hadn't somehow gone into overdraft or something paying for this and only saw my last payment from 3.5 weeks ago of $150.00 as my latest transaction to that account?! Needless to say, I will have to ask at one of my appointments on Monday about this to see what happened here! -

Under that bizarre body, I think you're right, maybe another game changer.....................to bad it looks like the designer got into Willie's secret stash before putting pen to paper..................... -
WHen it stopped here this past summer, that was the only time it was staying in one spot long enough for the public to see it and touch it here in Illinois. There were people from all over in town for those 4 days and probably more than doubled the normal population of the town (normally we're just over 27k, IIRC) and this town is not laid out for crowds like they had, especially at the railroad property they were using! They had to put together a parking and bus route for people to see it and had water and cooling tent, sales table, history cars made from old UP passenger cars, as well as local and UP's cops were on hand too. What impressed me the most was the range of people from all walks of life and of all ages there...all weekend long!

1966 American Coupe TypeC w/Blond Girls Figure by Hasegawa
Joe Handley replied to 89AKurt's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Why do I have "Girls, Girls, Girls" suddenly booming in my head after looking at those kits..................................... I'm thinking of a joke here, but it's beyond inappropriate for a family site like this??? -
Anything New at Hobby Lobby?
Joe Handley replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I picked up the current re-issue of the '65 Riviera at mine over the weekend and found Evergreen sheet and shaped products in small quantities there recently too! -
Don't see how large quantity vacuum formed parts would be an issue with the right buck, durability wouldn't be an issue since this is used for packaging and r/c car bodies and airplane canopies. There might be some detail related issues, but you should be able to mold a headliner into it to if you wanted to.

Food Dehydrators & Paint Dryers
Joe Handley replied to JayVee's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have a '59,Rambler Wagon in black, '56 Plymouth sedan in primer grey, and inassembled Turbine Car promo in white, all of which I bought from Okey in the last few years at the Dupage show, would those be Ok to put in a dehydrator at the lowest setting? -
Thanks Dave, we have found she has been a huge boost to Mom's morale too, because of her limited mobility, ahe can get down in the dumps and straight out depressed easily, but the pictures alone seem to bring her out of that funk, then even moreso when they bring her over. Speaking of which, got a couple new pics and she will be 2 weeks old tomorrow!

Ditto, in fact when it comes to real vehicles, I've owned 1 coupe (Dodge Shadow, which was technically a 3 door, but coupe shaped), 2 sedans (my 4dr 200 and 5 dr Lebaron GTS), and 2 5dr Jeeps (both of which have been unibody and basically station wagons too), I'll take a 4dr if it's an interesting to me subject.

I have no interest in the A-Bodies, but would probably buy at least a few of the '62 Fury, then one or two of each of the '62 Dart and the C-Barges. I am the one who has a few L-Body Charger and G-Body Daytona kits laying around too though, so I'm definately would be considered solidly Lunatic Fringe to for many Mopar people, let alone those who aren't.

Why is NHRA Pro Stock an all-Camaro class?
Joe Handley replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I haven't watched drag racing on a while, didn't realized Pro Stock had gone so far down hill! Does make sense, it some extent, when you can buy production bodied COPO Camaro, CJ Mustang, and Drag Pack Challenger straight from Detroit and race, let alone get variations of those cars in street trim that need little work (compared to decades past) to make monsters out of them. -

Picked this up the other day for a weird future project that I'll probably work on after the Convertible Charger Prototype from a General Lee Snap Kit is done. The kit is one of the AMT Camaro kits, but the snap-it version of the kit, and a SS 1LE, which is the handling oriented version of the SS. It's a nice looking model and is molded in 3 colors, matte black, matte dark grey, and dark gunmetal gray for the wheels, not to mention prepainted clear parts that look really nicely done! It also includes 2 decal sets, one peel and stick and a waterslide like the General Lee Snap-It kits had. Now, on to the pics! Aaaaannnnd here's a hint to what my plans for this kit with an idea of how the new side window line is going to flow from A-Pillar to a where the C-Pillar currently is I do apologize about the clear tape though, it's all I had handy when I took these pictures
-
No, it's just basic, plain, black from what appears to be an unpolished mold, the wheels are about all that received the Gunmetal treatment. They did fully paint the windows and tail lights though! If I don't do it tonight, I'll post out of box pics this weekend.

So long as there's T.P. when I need it, I really don't care how or if it's hung up

Finally broke down and bought a dehydrator for model use on Sunday, ordered it that night and it showed up today?! Can't complain there!

That, or a Top Fuel engine cackling at idle? Maybe even blower surge, complete with programing to make the car move along in time at idle to the sound! I'm not sure what would be funnier, a little EV like an i3 or Bolt idling through a parking lot making any of those sounds?

I figured it wasn't going to stay dead for long, not as long as Mike Patey was alive and able to start wrenching right away. The damage didn't look horrible, that said, what little airframe knowledge I have comes from seeing wrecked R/C planes and he seems to know exactly what he's doing in top of it.
