How Do You Select Your Projects?
Xingu replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For me it is easy. Since I am only doing mainly box stock models, the first box that I pick up and go "that looks like fun" is the winner. Turns out the fun is short lived on many of them though. Luckily, I have learned to step away from things when they start giving me trouble (fiddly pieces, not happy how paint turned out and such) and come back to them when I am more confident (or determined) in my skills to complete them. That is why I have a lot of started models and only a few completed ones. At some point I will want to do something unique and I am sure I will then add a new, previously unexplored, level to my OCD. -
The remake of "The Thing" comes to mind when "snowed in" Edit: Looks like Mike beat me to it.

Kubica lands full-time race return in WEC

There are teams out there that could/should take a chance. He would surely be better than some of the current #2 drivers (and maybe a few #1 drivers as well). -
Resin Realm... Closing up Shop...!!!
Xingu replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Please keep things civil and on track. This started as a post to let us know that, unfortunately, another caster is shutting down shop. -
Should the ramps be stored at the rear of the trailer? Seems like it would be a lot of trouble to get to them, when they are stored up front, if a car were on the trailer. Can't wait to see it all painted.

..and now for something completely differant!
Xingu replied to Pete J.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A lot of thought went into that car before it was built. It all seems to belong (except the Simpson harness). So, what you are saying is, you don't have to put a V8 into everything....interesting. I like the custom alloy wheels with wood spoke covers, nice touch. -

Never fails, you can run day races, hit lots of stuff and never bust a light. You run at night and the first thing you lightly hit takes out a light or two. I don't think I want a house along a rally route. -
1.1 cars that got away
Xingu replied to l88 chevelle's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Friend of mine had one like this (Black and Gold). Was a nice car, but got zero traction. If one drop of rain hit the road, the tires would spin. -
1.1 cars that got away

'70 Gran Coupe Cuda', '70 Challenger Convertible (factory air), '70 Challenger RT/SE (big block, 4-speed), '66 Chevelle (396, 4-speed) and the '65 Corvette that I didn't have the $4000 to buy. -
Nash Bridges Cuda is my all time favorite TV car I liked the boats from Miami Vice more than the cars. Hated seeing all of the General Lee Chargers getting crashed every week.

He was online after we had discussed this. He made a comment or two on posts.

The Moderation Actions at the top of the page will delete the entire thread. Look for an Options button at the bottom of the individual post, that should give you a delete option that is just for that particular post.

Factory stock, to the best of my ability. The colors are factory as well - Autumn Bronze with a Shoreline Beige roof.

I got mine on Amazon.com.

Hit a snag with my '55 convertible, so I started working on this Nomad. This was a new kit and for some reason the crossover pipe for the exhaust was not included. This particular model had horrible flash on every single part, including the body. Cleaned it up as best I could. This is about the point most of my models start to go south, so I decided I better snap a photo. Chrome is a combination of BMF and Molotow Chrome pen.

This all happens in the "real world" as well. It is a much smaller percentage of people that will say things to your face. Most just hold their tongue(this rule apparently does not apply to the internet and our keyboards). The problem isn't the differing opinions or ideas. I think a portion of the conflicts start because people just cannot express themselves effectively and what they feel is a perfect explanation comes across as harsh criticism to someone else. That is when everyone jumps in and picks sides. That is also when things start to escalate into personal attacks. If we would realize that we are not always right, and do not always need to get the last word in, things would be much more peaceful. Of course, there are also some folks that just do not like each other and will fight about everything. They are few and far between though. What happens on this board happens on every other board out there, to some degree. I am on boards for photography and aquariums and it is all the same stuff, just the names are different.

I think of this as an expanded model club that meets 24 hours a day, every day. You can talk shop, catch up on the latest tips and techniques or just rant about anything else in the Off-Topic area. It's a place where (mostly) like minded folks can get together and show off or comment on others models. It is a place where the hobby we all enjoy is appreciated. This place gives us access to advice, parts and entire kits that we might not otherwise come across. The knowledge that is online at any given time is immense. We have everything from the old pros, that have been there and done that, to the newest builders, that look at everything with a fresh perspective.

Now you have been bit. You can complain to eBay about that practice.

Ross Brawn Returning to F1
Xingu replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So it was an interview hidden in an interview. He got part of (an important part) Bernie's job.
