Revell 30 Model A Ford Production Halted?
Xingu replied to Daddyfink's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Yes, please keep politics out of any discussion on this board. If there is any question as to whether something would be considered political, don't post it. -

Rest in peace Harry. My heart goes out to his family and friends. -

Remember when Indy Cars were Good Looking
Xingu replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You can see the point where driver safety started to be a concern. -
Remember when Indy Cars were Good Looking
Xingu replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Almost any car can grow on me. I don't care if they are ugly as long as we get good racing. Safety is starting to play a larger role in car designs. If a driver walks out of his ugly car after a horrible crash, then I am for the ugly car. Race cars didn't have safety belts for the longest time. -
Not sure where this came from Ace. No need to dump on an entire country just because you do not like that someone provided additional information to one of your posts.

Who deletes the various Threads every day??
Xingu replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Members can no longer delete their threads. They can only hide them from view. I am not sure if they still show up in searches. -
Who deletes the various Threads every day??
Xingu replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Still a Mod. As far as I know, nobody is deleting threads (except duplicates). Members can hide threads that they started, but that has not happened very often. Weather is starting to get nicer and folks are ending their winter hibernation and heading outside. Post counts will generally dip this time of year. Dave forgot to change my title to Moderator when I first accepted the position. He just hasn't made the change yet (he also needs to update the remainder of the staff list). -
School Me on '71 Cuda Rubber Bumpers
Xingu replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't think I have ever seen them in black. I have seen plenty in hi-impact colors (the one I sold was yellow). Rears seem to be much rarer than the fronts. Paint them black, yours would be a rare fish indeed. -

Gravity Paint Order
Xingu replied to VonRecktofen63's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not sure about Gravity Paint but some of the paint companies mix the paint to order so they keep very little stock. Some do it in house and others farm it out to other companies. I believe that is why most companies take several weeks to get the product delivered. I use MCW paint and have never received any correspondence what so ever. I mail them a check and several weeks later they mail me paint and another blank order form. I usually buy paint for 3 or 4 projects at once. I do not need to be informed of every step my order is going through. I do expect a response if for some reason I call or email. -
Not sure why it happens, but I do try to delete them when I see them. If it happens, you can hide one of them and I will delete it if I see it. The only double post I got was my own fault, I clicked again before it was done thinking the first time.

Jacking the shipping price on Ebay
Xingu replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I will defend sellers (just a little). There is a glitch (or purposeful shady code) in how eBay calculates some shipping costs. When I sell, I put in the weight and box dimensions. Folks on the West Coast, I am on the East, were regularly accusing me of outrageous shipping costs. eBay was quoting them well over $30 for shipping a single 1/25 scale kit. When I would plug in the exact information directly to the USPS site the cost was closer to $15. They are using weight and dimensions when calculating postage, so you are also penalized for using an oversize box and shipping safely. -
Have purchased from him several times, always happy. Plan to buy again in the future.

6x9 speakers with grill?
Xingu replied to Perspect Scale Modelworks's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Detail Master also has PE speaker grills, in several styles. Not sure about the actual speakers. -
Nicely done JC! How long did it take for your heart to restart after the car hit the floor?

Is it just me, or has the site slowed down again?
Xingu replied to russosborne's topic in How To Use This Board
Joking around about the volunteers that are helping out on this board does not help. What helps is posting the actual problems you are having. I have asked the administrator, Dave Ambrose, if he knows when he will update software. -
Splitting round tubing longitudinally
Xingu replied to landman's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Could you possibly get a sheet of aluminum or brass and form it to the shape you need. -
Not sure how to resize on a Mac. Does it have something similar to Paint? In Paint - Open your photo, select resize, click pixels, select width or height and type in 100. Looks like 100 pixels is the max height and width (without having to scale or crop when you import it into the forum). 0.24mb is maximum file size.
-
Both the physical size (pixel width and height) and file size (mb) are limited. I don't have access to the settings, but the site definitely lets you know when you have it wrong and I think it then lets you know the limits.
-
Well, it seems to be variable. What is listed under my profile is now lower than it was. Mine says .17mb, but I know it was at least .24mb in the past. To check, go to your profile, click on your profile photo (or the generic place holder) and you will see the options available to you. It also lists the acceptable file types.
-
Profile photos are handled differently than regular photos posted to the site. You profile photo is basically a thumbnail photo and is very limited on physical size as well as size of the file. You can use Paint or any number of photo editors to resize a photo to the acceptable size.
