  1. That's a great idea!! I recently rummaged thru about four of my parts bins searching for two that matched! Finally found a pair the same size, with the same engraving on them!! LOL While they're at it....they could add some photo etched bezels to go with them!
  2. Notice it doesn't say "Authentically", "Realistically", or "Faithfully" reproduced. HAHAHAHAHA Of this generation of Chevy pickups, the '72 was always my fave. But, as far as the model kits go, I'd like to see them backdate it to a '67-'68 version.
  3. Very cool Mack, sir! Well done!
  4. Very nice job, Tim!! What shade of purple did you put on this one?
  5. That's a great color for this project! Very bold! I like it!!
  6. Duplicolor Clear, or TESTORS Wet Look Clear.
  7. That same camera would take a picture of you beating it up, too!! LoL
  8. Thanks, folks! I had fun with this one!
  9. And welcome back to the hobby, too!
  10. Fantastic Ford! I like the colors you chose. They really compliment each other, well. Engine bay looks nice and tidy, too.
  11. Sometimes, if you pry too hard, you can pull a hole right through the plastic. (I may, or may not have experienced that!)
  12. Careful use of a razor saw or #11 blade or even a rotary tool may help to separate the parts. You might have to sacrifice some mounting tabs, or slots in the process, but those can be re-established during the rebuild.
  13. In my experience, the ones that present the biggest problem are the kits that are molded in metallic plastic. The ones I've had hardly ever had evenly distributed metallic in the plastic.
  14. I worked in the paint department at a local auto factory back in the 80's. We were installing paint robots in the booth that sprayed the bodies of pickup trucks. The computer geniuses were setting the spray patterns by hand, then logging them into the memory for each robot. Then, a scrap truck body was sent down the line to test the robots. All of them did their jobs, except one....when the truck got in front of it....POW!!!....the robot struck out like a rattlesnake and punched a hole in the door panel!! The techs tried to reboot it numerous times, with the same results. Us pipefitters named that robot "Renegade".
  15. I have built molded color plastic kits in the past without painting the body. If the plastic is fairly shiny, and there are no swirl marks due to the molding process, it should look pretty good.
  16. That's how I like to do the convertible kits, too. I wish all convertible kits included uptops!
  17. Very nice with the white accents!
  18. And then....there's this....
  19. Very sharp!
  20. Maybe to cut down on wind drag?? LOL
  21. Taillight panel looks nice in there. Are you going to take the tailgate edges down to the bumper?
  22. Looks like it spent time in a Monster Truck diorama!!!
  23. I agree! I have about 3 dozen in the hobby room!
  24. I built this over the course of a year. I made several mods to the body, such as pancaking the hood and trunk lid. I fashioned hinges for the hood and trunk, and added '59 Caddy taillights. I used the frenched headlights from the kit, as well as the custom grille. Evergreen half round went into the interior and trunk. I sprayed Tamiya color coats, and Wet Look Clear on this Merc. Not my absolute best effort, but I had a lot of fun using new techniques. I haven't done many projects like this one. Comments are certainly welcome!
