  1. That's the way mine did, too. Looks like Revell missed it a little bit, there. I didn't bother putting putty on mine, as I had already painted the piece.
  2. Here's a quote: ..."I know, because I was there!"
  3. I wouldn't go too heavy on the putty. The window unit has a little inset to it:
  4. It's an absolutely beautiful auto...but, I'm partial to the brand!
  5. Go for it, Pat! I'm building a Honcho now. Not far from being finished with it.
  6. For those who don't know what Curtis is refering to, I had a Clear Coat mishap: The tan color is KRYLON Colormaster Gloss Khaki. I sprayed the hood with KRYLON Colormaster Gloss Crystal Clear. It started this wrinkling before I got through spraying! So, I stripped the hood, re-primed, and re-colored it: I've got it back to this point. The color coat is very smooth, just not very shiny. I'm glad I didn't start with the body when I sprayed that clear on it! I may try a hidden area to see how well a good wax will shine it up. Stay tuned! Suggestions are very welcome! I'm not going for a contest-type build, here....just a decent shelf-sitter!
  7. Very nearly bought of these a few years ago!
  8. Not meaning to hi-jack the thread, but this is what happened to me, recently: This is KRYLON ColorMaster Gloss Crystal Clear sprayed over KRYLON ColorMaster Gloss Khaki. Just as soon as the clear hit the tan, it started to wrinkle. Needless to say, I didn't test anything beforehand, mainly because I would have thought the same brand would work!
  9. Here's what I had on the first go around: This is KRYLON Gloss Khaki from the rattle can. Laid down very smooth over the Plastikote primer. The decals from the newer issue of this kit went on great, and are hugging tight to the body! Here's a mock-up to see where things stand: So far, so good!
  10. I wouldn't mind having one of these in stock form:
  11. This Jeep kit doesn't have a very well detailed interior. And...since I'm just building a shelf-sitter(careful, there!) I didn't spruce up anything about the interior: Some TESTORS Light Brown, Molotow Chrome, and a black Sharpie went on the three piece dash. TESTORS Light Brown and Model Master Flat Interior Tan on the seats. Flat Interior Tan and TESTORS Rust, with black Sharpie here. And...the simple, six piece interior is done:
  12. One of the guys in the group build did the hair spray and salt method on his Jeep. It came out looking like a really rusty Jeep!
  13. I couldn't get on yesterday, but it was back up last night, and is working okay, now.
  14. I had summa that not too long ago! Yumm!!!
  15. I'll be watching this one! Dodge trucks have always been my favorite!
  16. I had pulled pork (Boston Butt), pinto beans, sautee squash, fried cornbread, and sliced radish. Also, sweet tea! Sorry, no pic......it didn't stay around long enuff!! LOL
  17. I painted the engine with TESTORS Ford and GM blue: The exhaust pipe is TESTORS Steel, the transmission, muffler and convertor is TESTORS Aluminum. I painted the chassis TESTORS Semi Gloss Black, and wired the engine with a parts box distributor: I did a mock-up, to see where things stood: I used a Molotow pen on the grille.
  18. That clear gives a rich tone to the dark green. I really like that!
  19. $34.99 on their website.
  20. I had this kit for a loooooong time: Last year, I got in a group build on another site for pickups. I chose this kit. All the parts looked good at first glance: These are the kit decals: The decals on the blue backing came from the recent issue of this kit: Really no comparison....the bottom ones are more correct. It took a while to get all the parts cleaned up: It wasn't really "flash", but the parts had a sharp edge to them that had to be knocked down. Some of it was taken care of with sanding cloth, while other parts required a good filing! Plastikote primer was shot on after cleanup: I cleaned up the tires, and hit the letters with a "Gelly Roll" pen: The wheels were painted with TESTORS Silver: I'll do some more catchin' up in the next post.
  21. I'm gonna try some tests, when I get a minute. I have a few different clear coat brands to try over this Krylon. I really like how smooth the Krylon lays down.
  22. I got that hood re-shot: It went on smooth again. I may not clear it, this time. After it cures a few days, I might just hit it with some wax, and call it "DUN".
  23. Most likely it would have. Sometimes, I use left over sprue from the same kit, but this time I din't do any testing.
