  1. Looks interesting, I have a few hawks I could lend you, they'll make short work of those pesky squirrels!
  2. Thanks everyone, I jumped the gun with the photos, I forgot to put on the Husky hood ornament. It's on now.
  3. Calling this one done:
  4. Calling this one done, this is as the truck appeared at the June 2021 ATCA show in Bethlehem, CT. I was told that it had logos added for it's debut at Cortland a few weeks later. Chassis is the AMT Autocar A64B kit, Cab/hood, battery boxes and air tanks from AITM. Rear fenders from scratch. Tinted windows from my eye doctor (those throw away dark glasses they give you when they dilate your eyes). Paint is my own mix of acrylics. The real truck: My take:
  5. While the Robbos one looks good, it is a right hand drive truck. AITM is left drive.
  6. This will likely be the last update. Rear fenders are done, just need to be painted and installed. I have the mounting brackets fabbed and attached but will add more support underneath as those 2 little tabs aren't stout enough to hold things in place. Brake light housings are on.
  7. LOL! I drove a school bus back around 1980, not going to disagree with your comments!
  8. I've never seen a brown school bus......
  9. I continue to be in awe of your scratch building skills and patience........
  10. Great job, I agree that the dump trailer looks better as a 2 axle. I did one that way a couple of years ago.
  11. So if I'm following this, the KW cab from the dump truck goes on the Mack chassis, the cab of which replaces the KW cab on the mixer kit.
  12. Progress on the rear fender fab, sheet styrene with small angle stock for the outer lip. Currently waiting for the primer to dry, then finish filling and sanding. Brake light housings in progress, used a small hole punch for the holes for the brake lights.
  13. I had forgotten about this one, glad you're back working on it.
  14. Well, they aren't holes, they are rivets (or some sort of connector) that I would presume attaches the hinge: https://peterbiltparts.com/brands/dy-28qt-500cp
  15. Nor would I, they look like they are welded on. Makes sense though, when the exhaust pressure gets high enough, they open, if less pressure, I guess the exhaust uses the holes.
  16. I think I have everything i need, but will be finishing up another WIP before I start in on this one. The dump body will be the Montone from the A-car dump kit and I 'll probably use the A-car chassis. Most likely it'll be a 361.
  17. Thanks for all the kind comments.
  18. I'm back on this build and while looking for some other details, I noticed the stacks. As seen below, they are "capped" and the tops appear welded on, ie, not removable. Each side looks to have 4 holes (about 3/4-1") front to back in the caps. This would seriously reduce the outlet surface area and I imagine would create some serious backpressure. I admit I'm not up to date with the custom truck world but it seems to me this isn't going to be driven much. If anyone knows about this, please chime in as I'm curious to know the background info. As far as modeling it, not a big deal. Stacks are cut and caps on, I need to smooth things out, drill the holes and add the chrome. I already did one pair but they ended up too short.
  19. I'm in but haven't decided what to do yet. Last year's entry got hung up (still not finished) waiting for parts etc so I'm looking for a project that I have everything in stock (or know I can get quickly). Hoping to decide in a few days.
  20. AMT Kenworth kit, Tank from Keystone with tank fittings from Moluminum. I had robbed the sleeper from this kit for a previous project so I was looking for something different with a day cab. The KW had the longest frame of the kits I have so it seemed like a win. The rear extension for the ICC bar was from scratch. I made my own decals patterned after the real one.
  21. I hope Doug keeps the AITM line in resin. I have worked with 3D printed items and I much prefer resin, the surfaces are smoother and much easier to cut, file and sand whether to modify or just clean up.
  22. Looks good, I did a decent job with the old kit many years ago but it was a simple paint job, all white! I have a couple of the new kits waiting for their turn on the bench. From what I have seen, the new kits are several steps above the old ones. Doesn't mean they are any more resistant to my botched paint attempts......LOL!
