  1. Helmut, regarding the Atlantic, thank you so much for sharing your photos. I have wondered about that red car. I've only seen one picture of it before. Not certain whether or not it's #57591, the car currently painted black for Ralph Lauren. It's very similar, but I do see differences. The lights and registration numbers on the tail are slightly different, with fewer rivets on the red car. It's got a side mounted mirror and driving lights up front. I've got quite a few photos of #57591 and none include those details. I tend to think this beautiful red car may be a recreation, not one of the originals.
  2. I'm thinking this may actually be a 6C 2300B; very similar to this one, #815025.
  3. Ditto! The model is great, really well detailed, but the photography- my gosh! So good. I think Mike could make anything look great. ? He could shoot a glue bomb and we'd be like, "Hey, how did he make that full size car look so much like a junk model?" Well done, Mike!!
  4. For the other two Berlinettas in my collection, I want to rework one to represent #412020 and the other to be #412024. I've come up with some good wheels and tires to match. Hopefully I'll be tackling them this year.
  5. The Leo Berlinetta is of course the awesome #412029 from the Museo Storico, as you said. Each of the cars is unique. That one is the only one with an opening roll top. Jurgen (Plastheniker) did a really nice rework of his model to better depict the full size car, but I think the Leo/Hachette model is pretty darn nice, right out of the box. That said, I plan to rework one of mine with Fernando Pinto wheels and detailing the engine and interior.
  6. Helmut ? I agree with you 100%, these "Two-Nines" as some people call them, are SO beautiful. And, I'm 100% green with envy that you got to see one up close and in person. ?. I would be the guy to whom they'd have to say, "Excuse me sir, the exhibition is closing for the day...you'll have to leave now....you can come back tomorrow....." I could just stare at it for hours. The Franklin Mint examples are really nice. Great photos you've taken! I have two of the Spyders in my collection, and three of the Leo Models Berlinettas. I think the Mint Spyder most closely resembles #412041, which is currently painted black with a blue interior.
  7. Awesome! Love it. Orange and black is easy to mess up, but you made it look great!
  8. Helmut, nice photos! Thanks for sharing. caapa, "Lungo" refers to long wheelbase. There were also "Corto" short wheelbase versions of the 8C 2900B's.
  9. Beautiful work, Jon!! ? The Revell wheels and tires made a huge difference in the appearance. I love the carb and brake linkage and the subtle weathering on the grille and underneath. Many thoughtful details that make for a very convincing replica. The working features are top notch. The details inside the trunk....Great job!!
  10. I've never seen this one before. Nice!! Thanks for posting. -TIM-
  11. Great job, Bruce! I've picked up a couple of these recently. I notice you got the wheels and tires fitting together nicely. Some examples I've seen, even one version of the box art, has the wheels popping out from the tires and really detracting from the looks. Yours look just right! ? What brand/color paint did you use on the interior?
  12. Crossfire, very nice! Well done. Are those AMT '41 Plymouth wheels? They're a natural.
  13. Helmut, I love what you did with this Ferrari! Do you know off hand, the wheels that you used, are they the same as the ones Fujimi markets individually as 17" wheels? Looks like there are three different varieties; series no. 13, 14, and 101.
  14. You nailed it, Phil! That is BEAUTIFUL ?
  15. Very nice, Helmut. Clean work, great photography. Thanks for sharing!
  16. Ok, thanks Gary. I'll hit him up.
  17. Gary, unfortunately I'm late to the party for these cool Ferrari's. I bout a California Spyder today, and I've been going crazy trying to find the 250 GT Tour de France. Love that one!! Where did you get yours?
  18. No problem, Helmut! No offense taken whatsoever. Thank you Gary, hope you're feeling better soon! Keyser, thanks again for good conversation! Glad you guys enjoyed it. On to the next one (hint, Ferrari + Fernando Pinto.....Gotta keep the artist in business)
  19. I checked out Rangerink just now. Cool stuff! Thanks for the tip!
  20. It really looks great! Thank you very much.
  21. Love the carpet treatment. I haven't had much luck sourcing embossing powders. Where did you get yours?
  22. Terry, thanks! You made me feel much better about my unfinished projects. ?
  23. Very Nice!!
  24. Helmut, I really wish you hadn't said that.......because I was thinking the same things while comparing the photos as I posted them. ? The replacement wheels and tires are actually smaller than the originals from CMC. I experimented with some that were smaller still, but they didn't look quite right in the wheel openings. Anyway, I agree, the proportions are slightly off. There's a 1/18 scale version of this car that looks better. The biggest difference between the two seems to be the length of the cockpit, which is proportionally longer on the 1/18 version. Now, the 1/24 car looks great on the display shelf, don't get me wrong. Parked next to a Franklin Mint SSK the wheels and tires seem about right. The wheelbases of these two 1/24 cars are different though, and they should match, as SSK's. The CMC car is shorter. Proportionally, the body length vs. height is a bit off. I think if it were stretched in a couple areas it would look better. Not gonna do that though! ?
