Hi your right on the fact it's all new tooling but what made me think they used the old tool well parts of the old tool is I have an unbuild first run AMT 66 Comet kit the hoods on the 66 and 67 are the same and the new tool fits the old 66 and when they retooled it the body is still open all the way and they put the inner fender wells as part of the chassis I took the 67 new tooling and it slipped right in to the 66 body i was thinking they were able to save money by using the body with just small changes like i said i could be very wrong.

Ho boy I am with you on that i like the front grill lay out better and the taillights to from the side view you can't tell the deference and the dash was a little deferent but yes, I was hoping the same thing but I think this fell to the same fate as others the mold was reworked to make the 67 it saved them a ton of money back then.

LOL your right the comet was Mercury's Fairlane the two cars were about 90% the same.

I'm with you on this i am 71 and started building model cars when i was 10 so that gives me 60 years of building i am at that point now i want to see the older cars come back out but do not want it to be a 2 years project because there are 10'000 parts on the chassis it's ok to make it simple 90% of the people that look at your models are not going to pick them up and say is that all the detail you have.!!!!

Nice build that's one AMC that i have always loved for it's time it was a great looking car i am a big fan of AMC cars and JoHan was the only model company that did them all i wish some company would start remaking those models they will have to start with all new my understanding is that all the tooling has be lost.

Nice clean build and a great color those old Buicks looked great in dark colors i had a 69 it was all most the same body i had the dark brown what a car i wish i had it back.

Yes one of the reasons I picked the AMT 69 Chevelle is the glass is the same cut and the and the body dropped right on the 69 running gear. I know it's not going to be perfect but i am hopping for close lol.

I have one of those kits i got from him 18 years ago and just now took it out to build i found that the AMT 69 Chevelle kit works great for the donor kit in fact i am going to see if one of the Revell 68 or 69 Chevelle kits may work to. I just started with mine in fact i for got i even had it i found it in the back of the pile looking for something else.

Modelroundup is taking pre-orders now i just placed my order for 3 of them they show August for delivery can't wait to get one of them on the bench.!

Great you will like his casting they look like plastic light and very little to do on it but wash it i have many of his body's and parts. Also Missinglink resin is the same type of casting and parts and he has the dog dish caps if your going that way and he also chromes his parts.

Yes they are and i have 2 of them there they are a copy of the AMT kit very nice resin kit and he will chrome the bumpers and grill for you.
