  1. Love the out-of-the-box ...... oh wait, that doesn't apply to models ..... drive by a different drummer thinking! I've never built a perfect model, so I would be happy to finish another one this year.
  2. What Ferrari are you going to build? I just got FPP's Ghia, but have other plans for the running gear.
  3. That's more rare than a running Vega! ? Amazing it sold for that much, but someone had to have it.
  4. My Flickr account got disappeared. I know why, I shouldn't have counted on not getting caught (subject not allowed here). But still, about 10 years of memories lost, I have pictures stored here and there on thumbdrives, CD, back-up drive, but still. So on other forums where I linked, my comments will be useless. Debating whether to start on another photo-hosting website. I've seen the backlash against PhotoBucket on this forum, so that's not an option. Part of modern digital life. Don't get me going on my local building departments. If you live where there isn't one, feel fortunate.
  5. I haven't been lurking for months, so glad I finished mine while I was on a roll. Cheering everyone who is making the mad dash to the finish! ?
  6. # 11. 89AKurt - Subaru Impreza WRC. WIP: Tamiya Subaru Impreza (not WRC but Cannonball Ruse) with Hobby Design engine Interior: Roll bar cage was modified, to reduce the bars seen through the windows, and make access a little easier. "Normal" instrument gauges added. A video camera with telephoto lens, with screen that is moveable, for the co-driver to scan ahead (see cargo box). Scratch-built the cooler from Corian, and Monster cans litter the back. Some of the Scale Motorsport photo-etch used. Parts box CB and scanner. Seatbelt decals stayed on the paper, added red paper to the back. Moveable sun visors with a message added. Along with having the Monster cans, and kit boxes scanned, reduced, and printed, made a vanity license plate that is sort of difficult to read. LOL The curbside kit has no engine, lucked out getting the Hobby Design resin engine long ago. Modified the strut bar, intake tube, some other details added. Hood hinge is fusee pocket watch chain. The cargo box is a modified Fujimi part (bicycle comes with that kit). Made the mount from brass wire, soldered, antennas rotate down, one rally light rotates, real camera lens scavenged from a dead camera. Scale Motorsport photo-etch grill screen, and some of non-race parts such as brake disks were used. WRC race details removed from the body, painted with Testors black, then weathered as if it finished after going through storms. Windows tinted (a little too much) with diluted black paint. Resin gas cap added to the trunk, assume the whole trunk is a fuel cell. Made Hella horns (can see behind grill). The kit transmission was retained, filled the void on top and some imagineered detail added. The front suspension mounts needed relocating so the engine would fit, and made engine mounts. Modified the rack & pinion, tube with wire, wheels still turn. Parts box rear muffler with steel tube tip. Front skid plate was cut back so you could see the engine, and also for fit.
  7. Hello, I haven't been active for awhile, thank you for the comment. I have 2 more of these kits too, that were never started like this one. Someday I may do my '68. Much appreciated. Thanks to you too! Since I'm here, pleased to announce that I received a First Place in the Phoenix IPMS contest a few weekends ago. It beat out my Ferrari NART Spyder.
  8. My mom wanted to go down Diamond Creek on the Hualapai Reservation, which goes to the Colorado River. Took her Accord. Got a flat about half a mile from the end, put the stupid spare on, got to the river. Thank God some Jeep people were there, they offered to fix the tire, which they did. Today I took my compressor over to my mom, discovered the spare had only 10PSI, should have 60. Car was recently at the dealer, they didn't bother checking the stupid spare, because you have to remove it to get to the valve. Today, pretty much applies to the past year, the building departments in my area are swamped, because the construction industry is booming here because everyone is escaping to here. Bad enough to have to use their website portal, that's another story. Have a job that I applied for a permit October 01, so a month and a half ago. The department head was recently fired for being a richardhead, for various reasons, but everyone is glad he is gone. They will nitpick, then it will be another month before they are blessed with a permit. I keep telling them this is why nobody wants to get a permit, if they can get away with it.
  9. trained for sniffing
  10. I haven't heard positive things about YRMC, before CV1984 hit. Thanks to the comment about trips, I've gone nuts on the Chevy truck forum posting pictures. New irk for today, had a client change window types and sizes on his house, without telling me until I had to fill out the energy code worksheet. Good thing I caught it before the plans went in for permit. I could post something every day about work, but won't bore everyone.
  11. Tho I don't know him personally, just because I got one of his kits I think about his loss every time I see it on the shelf. Thanks for letting us know.
  12. Last century I did a few commissions. Might have made Chinese slave labor wages. It was enough to buy a few kits and tools. Recently I've tried doing just resin Coke coolers and tool boxes, but for the time and material I'm not making squat, it's more to share what I can. I acquired a nice resin kit from Portugal, I can't imagine the guy makes a living doing it, just the wire wheels alone must take awhile. I also think if it was to become a "job" for a living, it would be...... work. But if you can make it, more power to you! I'm just a pessimist.
  13. AWESOME! I love when rally cars are made dirty, that should be a requirement. ? Fine job on that. But how annoying are slicks on dirt, eh?
  14. Well dang, thought I saw it somewhere. ? The '69-'70 Chevy stepside is nice too, but I favor the "regular" longbed just because I own this '68.
  15. Nice show! My favorite is the '50 Chevy pickup. What is with the kinky bra on the Mustang?
  16. I didn't know the Post Office is slamming their old trucks. ? This is the second time I have seen a suspension failure.
  17. Thank you! Sorry for the super delayed reply. Check out what else I have done.... I've always wanted to find a location that looks like North Africa. Must be one reason I like this subject, the geology is very similar to what can be found in the US's Southwest. Went camping last week near Monument Valley, specifically Valley Of The Gods. First day I found a wash that worked out. Pictures taken with the iPhone, and Nikon real camera. Some shots are cropped. It was ideal, had recently rained, no tracks in the sand. Here is the location: Now the punch line: Have to show the first camp site. The wash goes to the left. Now I'm annoyed, the back window cover has warped since I completed it, need to figure out how to bend without wrecking it.
  18. So yes I'm bumping my old topic, been seeing there is a shortage of plain spray paint at Home Deephole or wherever.
  19. Really like the subject, and well done considering the kit. Hope the shop owner appreciates it.
  20. Are you in luck! This coming weekend is IPMS Modelzona. I've medaled a few times, worth my time.
  21. Bradshaw Mountain is wonderful. Years ago had to take another cat in with cancer in the ear, so put him down. I didn't get the ## treatment, they understood. Cooper has some plastic drain device in his ear, shaking ? everywhere.
