It doesn't have to be shiny.....
89AKurt replied to Rocking Rodney Rat's topic in Contests and Shows
Most excellent! You are a man after my heart, I would rather exercise than try to get a shiny paint job. Much more satisfying to get a realistic patina, which can hide runs drips and errors. Congrats getting those sweet looking awards. -
I got one of those months ago. I was really driving, so I played stupid, said I wasn't able to get on my computer, can I call back, so he gave me a phone number. I acted all panicked to give him hope. Then when I did get home, filed an FCC report.

How does that saying go about anything being free? (oh wait, this forum is free ? Forgot to report to G00gle as spam...... I see the discussion about headlights. The giant Ford pickups, with stacked headlights, seems like they are high beams, hating on them. I'm old enough to hate driving at night, unless it's a full moon. Some car taillights have the LED flicker when you look sideways fast, that's getting annoying too. Oh well, First World problems, could be running to a bomb shelter or simply looking for clean water.

Got a phishing email, claiming to be Amazon. The only clue it was a scam, the arrow under 'amazon' was not yellow. I supposedly ordered their credit card, I have ZERO credit cards, for a reason. Sneaky criminals, they work so hard..... ? I figured out how to talk to a real person, so filed a report.

1937 Ford Pickup
89AKurt replied to NOBLNG's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That came out very nice! The details you added are noticeable, I need to try the cowl vent sometime. Have the kit in my stash. ? -
March 5 I didn't post a picture of my '68 Chevy pickup, silly me. Did a camping trip last month, took lots of glamor shots.

Ferrari 410 SA Ghia 1956 by Fernando Pinto Portugal
89AKurt replied to 89AKurt's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Nobody get excited, not starting this yet! Was looking at this 612 Scaglietti kit because I wasn't liking where the other one was going. The wheelbase and width is closer. I'm thinking the interior door panels, dash and seats will mesh with the newer car, but might need to create a new tunnel. I drew out the plan view to review later, something this drastic needs multiple evaluations before destroying two perfectly good kits.- 17 replies

Chrome Plating Resin Parts?
89AKurt replied to crowe-t's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I'm just checking out what the alternative to sending out for chrome plating is. Been seeing people trying other products on Fakebook, but am neglecting to take notes. -
2022 Cannonball Group Build theme suggestion thread
89AKurt replied to Fat Brian's topic in Community Builds
Year of your birth theme. ? This would be perfect, if I wasn't in the doldrums the past several months, and buried with work (long story). I grew up with this 1961 Mercedes 190 sedan, that's me in the blanket outside the hospital. Dad sold it after I graduated from high school, so I got to drive it some. I got this absolutely horrible model, which rolled off the shelf and hit the concrete floor after I got it. There is this 3D file of the car, would require some modifications such as taillights. But one needs to have a subscription to that website, and have someone with a big enough printer. Yea, like this is going to happen. ? -

I'm mechanically challenged, have done limited stuff on my vehicles. Took only a week to replace the carb on my '68 Chevy pickup. ? The Quadrajet started acting up (lucky it was after my camping trip), read some on the truck forum, sure didn't want to attempt rebuilding it. Got a Holly copy (nowhere does it say where it's made, let me guess), so had to get an adapter to begin with, instructions weren't clear, but figured it out. Today got the fuel line, vacuum line, and most important the throttle link attached. Needed to use the tap & die set to modify the linkage with a Heim joint (guess where it's made) for the lever thingie. And also shorten the air cleaner bolt, with new threads. Started up first try, but need to sort out a few things before driving, need help from my neighbor. Building a model is one thing, nothing has to really work or last, doing real mechanical stuff is always a challenge for me.

The main highway going into Prescott this afternoon was closed, tonight I see construction hit a gas pipeline. Daily traffic count here is what the population of town is. So it was a cluster**** both ways. I had a business appointment, and car parts to get. Of course some drivers got aggressive and didn't let people in, I was signaling and being polite, and took some back streets to get around the back-up. The two errands took a little longer, and had to add a third stop. I was kind of wound up by the time I got to the appointment.

Any of mine? ? The only reason I've bought individual issues is when my models are published, is that way too selfish? I stopped getting car magazines a decade ago, some last century. I grew up with Road & Track, but it changed. Have stacks of magazines that are never looked at, just a few found for reference.
