  1. Mirrors are always a challenge to make realistic, as in actually reflecting. Look at glitter, the bigger confetti such as stars, it's clear plastic that is coated on one side like real glass mirror. I don't know how to track down the original manufacturer of that, other than ask the glitter company in China. An aftermarket detail company who can get that in sheets would have a popular product.
  2. Thank you for the comment! You ever see glitter, the bigger sizes that are usually stars? I wish there is a source for a decent size sheet, instead of cut up tiny. Any aftermarket detail company could make a killing selling that.
  3. Much of the interior is done. Have ideas for extra stuff to add. Some details glued into the engine bay. I didn't plan the brake cylinder placement correctly, so I imagineered a fix using a Celica oil pan for a detail. Scale Motorsport plates were used in the driver footwell. I like the aluminum sticker that Tamiya has for the floor panel. I added carpet on the co-driver floor.
  4. Gorgeous! Not familiar with MG wheels. Very nice restoration, and considering how scarce the kits are, about all one can do.
  5. Came out really nice!

  7. Can always throw more under the hood. Good day for working on a model. I have several copies of the MOVE OVER from a previous project, this is the perfect application. Thin wire, folded over paper glued with Titebond, drilled holes in the roll cage. Mirror is from a coffee can seal, think from Trader Joes. Spent this afternoon on interior detail painting, and the first decals. I'm still undecided on the seatbelts, have the red paper just in case. The only kit decals are on the seats, fire equipment, and 2 on the dash. Aftermarket gauge decals put in the stock pod. The CB and scanner are mounted in an aluminum strip. The Scale Motorsport photo-etch has straps and buckle, 2 short and 2 long, but not a third. I just didn't want to screw with it, bending just right and gluing on. I love to use aluminum duct tape, can cut any width, and it sticks itself, no messy glue, and I like the shiny finish. The third part would not have had the same p-e. Also, the biggest part has the strap go under the black detail. It would have been nice to have p-e vents instead, but the detail set eliminated vents altogether.
  8. Got it. Thanks for any improvement.
  9. You are plugging away just fine! Can hardly wait to see how you do with the p-e wipers, been there done that never again if I can help it. I've not used any of those glues, but suggest trying the Gorilla or BSI, maybe the varnish if it does not react with whatever paint. That p-e set has seat belt buckles, that's more than my set.
  10. Awesome workmanship, and photography. I like those tire treads. I have the Turbo, along with detail sets from USP (engine, interior) and photo-etch, so always like to see how others have done on this great kit.
  11. Welcome! Ignore guys like me, we're insane. ? The important thing is, you have the time, you have the will, and you might end up finishing more models than many of us. I discover subjects that I didn't know existed, so that's the risk of hanging out here.
  12. Sweet rig! Did a great job on the black paint.
  13. Chains are required.
  14. Sweet 356! Bummer about the crack, been there done that. I also built one of these many years ago, but it was the Roadster, I sold it. Have the Speedster, but sort of intimidated to build it. I like the colors you chose.
  15. Cut the radiator off using the Tamiya scriber at first, then the Xacto blade. Made the radiator supports from Evergreen square rod. The Hobby Design photo-etch radiator faces projected from the kit radiator, so I can slip it down the supports. Have zero clearance, but the engine stuffs in okay. Need to make new radiator hoses. Decided to use part of the skid pan, cut with the hot-wire against a steel ruler. I sanded the cut and then painted later. Found radios, and started on the antenna mount, pictures when all that is done.
  16. Fun to watch the other builds. Sort of making me want to do another project using a real race car. ? That 3D printed LS engine looks really nice, the technology has advanced since Hobby Design produced the STi. You guys using big American cars don't have to worry about clearance issues.
  17. I like these cars, but have never sprung for a kit. Look forward to watching this WIP!
  18. Thank you for checking in! ? I'm trying not to take pictures of every step, it's just painting. ? How many models have decent cooling fans? Some detail will never be seen, like the holes on the fans. I thought bending the blades would be a nice detail. I was afraid there will be a clearance issue, and sure enough. Glued the fans in with Tacky glue, so they can be removed. When slipping the engine in, yea, figures (arrow). Not excited about the prospect of cutting the radiator off, but there is not enough room in front either. Being part of the chassis gives it strength, so I will glue in a steel brace after removing it. That's funny, only after taking pictures and looking at them, do I see such things as the fans are left/right. ? I shouldn't bag on Scale Motorsport, their quality is really good, and they offer stuff that nobody else will do. They seem to use aerospace tolerances which is not applicable for dunderheads like me. The brake disks had zero slop, so they didn't fit down onto the surface, and you can't bend them without wrecking the look, so don't look at the edges. ? There a are tiny AP logos to put on still, will do at the very end. Some projects I've made real springs, looks better than this. The Tamiya level of detail is really amazing, the suspension is beautiful. Then it will be covered up by aero and skid plates. They are molded in clear, beautiful satin finish, but it's still sort of lame. The front won't fit because I modified the steering rack part, no big deal for this project. The Lexus muffler looks like I planned it. ?
  19. Training for martial
  20. I'm very much into Restomods! Done 3 to date, have several ideas in mind. I really like the Singer Porsches, each one is unique, so don't hold back. I got the headlight details from Spot Model, just because, have a few 911s in the stash.
  21. More paint, last of what can be masked and airbrushed (other than the dash). Which means brush painting the last details. It's a weakness of mine, to brush paint. Changing some of the colors, such as the shocks are Bilstein yellow/blue. The instructions show the exhaust pipe is flat white, I did steel. Not going to use some of the Scale Motorsport parts, such as the wipers and hood pins, too finicky a detail but the hood pins are really nice and will end up on something else. What is disappointing about the detail set, no seat belt buckles, so deciding whether I will use another detail set in the stash, along with red craft paper.
