Made the mistake of getting 1/24 scale slot mag and tires, these are really nice units, but too big DUH. I have the AMT Chevy Blazer "Crew Chief", which has about the correct tires, in 1/25 scale. Any leads on where to get 6 lug 15" wheels?

Tyres melting the blastic wheels
89AKurt replied to Funkychiken's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I found an Italeri military truck with those evil tires, searched and found two different makes of wheel/tires for them. Never know, if enough people got pissed off about this, should be replacements. -
Oh, so that's what this bumper goes to! 3 tries with the paint, I feel your pain, no wonder it lurked for awhile, came out really nice! I still prefer BMF over the Molotow pen.

It's a toss-up between Corian, and newspaper printing plate, for my favorite scratch-building material. Roughed out the shape with the bench sander earlier. Tonight used files to rough shape the pleates, after scribing with the knife using the steel square. Also scribed where the stretched sprue piping went. Not doing the rips, or blanket cover (if I did that, would photo reduce a Navajo rug just for fun).

Thanks! Be sure to drill all the holes in the seats. ? Have you checked the prices for the Fujimi wire wheels set? ? ? I know right? Thanks for the comment.

Very nice! Did you make the license plate? -

Trying to not post every single thing I get, so here is this past month's binge: VW Rabbit trade, saw an Under Glass of two nice Golfs, made me want to find one, then the trade offer days later had this, so that was awesome manifestation ability. Spot Model is a favorite source, *had to* splurge on the awesome USCP engine detail kit, plus window mask, and reference book for the Beemax Quattro. The Pikes Peak decals are for the Profil kit. Also got photo-etch details for the Academy Ferrari 250LM. Nissan engine in a trade that will go in the 510 that I've had awhile. Splash paint for the Green Barge. Awesome turnaround service! Not in the picture is the HRM Ferrari distributors, which is exciting, which I traded emblems for.

Well shoot, now I feel stupid. ? *After* wrecking that custom grill, find out it's way too small, so now for plan B. Measured my '68 today, while it's daytime (I've been going out at night to look at the engine ?), and made scale drawings. Found out the tailgate is wrong, narrower and taller than the real thing. Example of research photo, with the tape measure. This '68 has mid-level trim across the top of the tailgate, which was not on the '69, and I replaced the taillight trim with "wrong" full surround (had only one that goes around the outside) because it was cheap, and looks better. Otherwise, measured and drew out the CHEVROLET, which will be fun to replicate. The taillights are completely wrong on the kit, which bugs me more than anything. ? Cut out the seat (and heater not shown) from Corian, using the table saw.

You *could* buy your own pan at a second hand store, and keep it out of the kitchen. ? I have a stained glass iron that could work.

? I'm going all-out OCD on this one. Also learning about something called patience.

I built this last century, so you have a treat awaiting. The tools have been floating around all this time. Now I have 2 berlinetta kits, one sealed and the other without tire/wire wheels (cheaper than finding the Fujimi wheel set!).

What diamond plate are you using? I have some that does not have as good a relief as yours. Ferrari tool bag, most tools came from the Fujimi Daytona, but needed to make about half of them. Used a cordless drill along with the Dremel, and knife. Wine bottle lead foil for the leather. Real wood hammer handle.

Very cool! I like how you did the bottom, very realistic. Also noticed the tow hitch. I only know about Chevy, which painted their engines orange, at least around '68 '69 (since I own those pickups), find it interesting that Mopar did too.

Revell Tri Chevy kitbash ?
89AKurt replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Will admit I'm rusty on the details. All I know, for my project, the Monogram roofline doesn't look right, too tall. There is a HUGE difference with the Revell. I was more interested in the front bumper, my real car had the coveted California bumper, which is one piece. The taillight trim proportions was off on one of them too. Now back to our regularly scheduled program..... after showing off my '57. ? -
Because I don't read about the rodding world, didn't know about this builder, but can see why everyone likes them. Love the reduced bumper, that was a good idea. If it was me, would flip the turn signals so it's smiling. ? Pulling up a chair......

Thank you. Some screw drivers have black accent , that's my excuse. ? The reference photos show used tools, especially the jack. If it's a Pebble Beach concours contender, they would be perfect. Thank you! I'll copy/paste your comment, seems like I say that every time I look at a new build. ? You doing a 275GTB/S or a Daytona (that the tools are with)? Thanks! You can edit comments, it's annoying to find out we can't delete anything.

There is no way I'm putting the whole model on the stove (unless it's a Phoenix in July diorama)! I could see putting all the tires on a wood dowel, spaced apart a little, and doing this.
-
Who wants to experiment with bulging tires on a hot stove? ? Liking the cutting techniques.
-
Thanks, mixing that with trying to be accurate. ? There are some cool cigar bands that have to be good for something on a model. Finished the tool bag! Made a few more tools on the fly, fan belt, and triangle box. Dang, that paint looks horrible!

I would call this break eggs to make an omelet stage. Used the hot-wire to cut apart the custom grill, to use for the door panels, and the driving lights. Also cut apart the glass with the wire cutter. Started fabricating the interior. Experimented denting the bed floor, which was pretty rough from working on a ranch. The Corian brake booster is painted. Cut out a window crank.
