That's what I was thinking of, thanks for the clarification.

1969 C10 shortbed

Looks sweet! I'm currently building the AMT kit. What is your tailgate? And what was the original kit? Nice to see another of the pickups built. -
Washington Post: Clive Cussler, best-selling adventure writer who sought real-life thrills, dies at 88 Because I'm not a novel reader, didn't know who he was. Only because I attended the IPMS Nationals 2013, did I see his awesome car collection. Some of the cars had the book they were featured in, on display. I'll post a few shots of my tour:

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
89AKurt replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thought I would check in to see what other guys are dredging up. I was in your original round, but did not complete the '48 Chevy Canopy Express. I'm now on a mission to complete, to fulfill a New Years resolution, and to enter in the Desert Scale Classic. I sent the dash out to get chrome plated, that's the only thing out of my control now. Made accurate door handles, that will get plated. Got diamond plate sheet that is really nice, for the floor. Got thin wall steel tubing, for the bed rolled edges. So can I rejoin? -
Very nice. The window decals are also a nice touch, where did they come from?
-
That's really sweet! You guys who do such nice paint work make me sick. ? Noticed the fuel line at the gas tank, and 2020, you sign your models?

It's not something I would build, but really appreciate seeing a scarce subject get done so well! I've lost track of "spent too much" kits, if it makes you happy, that's more important than eating lobster. The wheels get a pass, look good with this car, the stock look with narrow tires about a foot inside the fender are not my thing. But what is with the opera window? I recall vertical louvers in a vertical trapezoid shape.

Think I'm way too obsessed about the tailgate? ? The folding support could be a photo-etch detail, but since there isn't room when it's closed, faking it for only the open position. When I researched, eyes wandered and saw something else to make correct, the end of the bed floor. Good thing this area is beat up, another easy fake it until I make it. Weird thing, pivot points are exactly the same location, length of supports the same, but have about a 1/16" error, so had to quit.

I built that kit last century. It's a horrible rendition, the wire wheels are a joke, the contours in some places are just wrong, such as the launch of the fender *in the door*, rear curves are too square. This was the only way to do it justice, my first car diorama. Look forward to seeing how you save your project!

1960 Ford F-100

Very cool! Nice job on the jamb lines. You do something with the windshield, looks so clear. -
I'm working on two projects at the same time, common link is the diamond plate. Bumper has the license plate and bumper sticker glued on. The tool box is painted with Alclad 'polished aluminum'. I'm making copies of the revised tailgate, and tool box. Having a very steep learning curve with resin casting. Patience, still something I have trouble with. ? Had someone already request copies via Fakebook, think this will work.

In 10 days and BOOM ready for paint? What's my problem? ? I like it, look forward to watching progress. -

Thanks, I'm happy to be back on this project. For the '48 I owned, had a piece of 3/4" plywood, after I tore out the remaining rotten lumber.

Mirrors, gotta have them. The kit part is incorrect, and just doesn't look good. This time used fat sprue and turned on the cordless drill, the two 5" mirrors. Smashed the end of the wires to make a flat mount perch, ground a tiny V instead of trying to drill a hole. The base is plastic with superglue and baking soda built up to create the taper. Will brush primer a few times and refine, before painting black.

Tsk tsk, you should know better. Nick is now released from not talking about food restriction. We need to figure out something for this infraction. ? on odd months

Yes, since the paint is water-based, the cement hardens up and peaks up with the brush stippling, and when dry it's really hard. I have a 1,000 year supply of tile grout, you could use any cement. Or I could sell you a dime bag. ?

Thanks! No pressure. ? This one could use those license plates you guys have for the show. ? Started small today, made the taillights from Corian, using my cordless drill and Dremel technique. Took three tries for the light trim part. Then I cast an RTV mold of them, so look forward to having exactly the same lights (you know how hard it is to make an exact duplicate part?). The resin Panel conversion had a wood floor, that was modified from the pickup bed, not to mention warped, and incorrect. I personally don't care about wood beds, when I was a kid, was in a Dodge and got a massive splinter under a fingernail, so I sort of hate them. ? I used the hot-wire to cut out diamond plate, using the cardboard pattern, gives a convincing torch cut edge. The vacuum-formed part is for the door area. The rolled bed edge is steel tubing. It's going to be lots of fun during final assembly. No instructions, have to wing it. ? The cab interior will have to be painted and assembled first, the vacuum-formed sides get wiggled into place, will be a challenge to glue everything. I have gaps in various places, so hope a dark color will disguise it, and could put some junk in there to cover it. Knowing it will have a used patina will also help. Got the '69 pickup bumper decorated, for a break. It's a small thing, but I love the tube rolled edge, can see through it!

Looking fantastic! You using Crazy Modeler decals?

Thanks for the clarification. Look forward to the result.

? Now I'm in shock. Yes, resurrected one that was in Bring Out Your Dead awhile ago. Have the back bumper finished. Added the trailer electrical plug, two photo-etch nuts, sheet styrene to the edge of the flat panel. Painted Testors flat aluminum, but it didn't look to scale, so second coat of Alclad 'dull aluminum'. That Alclad pulls from inside corners, it's the only paint I've ever seen that happen, but for this project I will cut those areas out and wash rust in there, should fake it until I make it. The tailgate has been the most time intensive part of the whole truck. Some wet-sanding is due, then make another mold. Final thing tonight was adding the rare-earth magnet in the bed stake pocket. You can barely see the steel plate in the tailgate.
