  1. Been taking baby steps lately. Got license plates, owners manual, bumper stickers and kit box printed on paper. Airbrushed all but the paper subjects with Deft varnish. Got a new batch of RTV, successfully made the molds. Worked all day on trying to get one half decent front bumper, to send for chrome plating. Wasted a bunch of resin, but since it has a short shelf life, better than never using any. While waiting, engineered a hood latch mechanism for the other project.
  2. FYI: Tried to start a new topic, but am getting the 404 error window. I even tried not having pictures, no luck.
  3. I've been trying to start a new topic about this, but the site is messed up, getting 404 error. ?
  4. Thank you! I do enjoy show the slowing how this nut builds models. I know right? ? All I did, all day, is cast resin parts. Have successfully cast four copies of the door handles, they are in this mess.
  5. for modeling lipstick
  6. I do keep track of my time. Could be making money instead of playing around with models. But what fun is that? Thank you.
  7. *Had to* redo the hood hinge. The kit part is just huge to begin with, the fit was very good so had a good example to pattern after. Took two fabrications with the wire. Coffee can steel used for the body half. Laid wine bottle foil over the wire to reinforce. Took some adjustment of the wire to get it to fit. The prop rod works great, won't need to hold up with a toothpick.
  8. Fun subject, look forward to seeing how this goes together.
  9. I never heard of this brand of model before. I've seen very few of these cars, cool subject. You did really well on it, love the lights. Did you add the green can up front?
  10. That was annoying, replying to a PM, it kicked me off. Lucky my message was saved.
  11. I threw out my TV 2008, and haven't missed it since. I *HATE* all the ads. When I was a bar fly, never watched the boobtube, which was always on sports. Have many other things to irk me still, dang it. Like getting ready to pour RTV to cast resin parts. Wasn't that long ago, got a Smooth-on kit. Used about 5% of the RTV. So part A was totally solid. Guess I should store bottles on separate corners of the property.
  12. Cool Deal man! Like the scheme.?? I built a couple when I was a kid. First kit-bash was putting the Chevelle under the Bug. I wouldn't mind doing another one.
  13. Grip Strut landing.....
  14. Very cool! ? Congrats Steve! Nice looking awards too, even the green one.
  15. I think everything (except the Ferrari Breadvan ?) has the possibility. My choice, Nomad kits are dime a dozen, not the 4 door wagon. I owned this last century, found the crude resin copy of a promo on eBay that will take a ton of work to look good.
  16. You knocked a beauty out of the park! Great photos too. The best thing about rally cars, head shot with all the lights.
  17. That came out SWEET! I recently picked up that up, this just makes me want to start it. ?
  18. Thanks for saying that! A cigar shop went out of business end of last year, have a Fuente Opus X waiting for a special occasion. I read Patron, my bad, eyes sort of tired. ? My holy grail is a Cohiba torpedo, many years ago had a box that was killer, but have not experienced that again.
  19. Exhumed from the WIP stash, again. I committed myself (no, not to the funny farm) to get this sucker done this year. Since I'm sending parts to get chrome plated, wanted to make the door handles. This is one pet peeve about this kit, would have been so easy to make door handles for the chrome tree. Worked on both mirror imaged on the same plastic. After cutting apart, added the base. I hope it will work to saw of the support. That's it for now. At this rate, will catch up to Dann on number of WIP at once..... like months from now. ?
  20. Wanted to report that the Tamiya scriber is very nice. I used it on the door jambs too, worked great. Yes it costs, but good tools do.
  21. Worked on preparing the bumper for resin casting. First half is the Alumilite rubber putty. Also going the be able to make door handle copies, these plastic originals will go to the chrome plater with the other parts, but the resin bumper will have to be separate.
  22. Thank you! Combining 3 projects to send out parts for chrome. Glad I decided to do the bumpers, they needed more work than expected. The mirror needed a tiny ejection pin mark filled, that was on top, and mold line disappeared. Spinners had two injection tabs to disappear, and the edges needed to be knocked down. This is when patience will be required.
