  1. I really hate it when a truck kit comes with this much chrome. I end up cutting off the very few parts I want chrome and sending the rest into the purple pond for a few days. I prefer this as the chrome hides the details and then adding primer and paint hides even more. At least stripping the chrome off allows you to get back some of the details.
  2. If I get the energy, I may trim a little off the headers. They are a little close, I guess the owner could just add bump stops so they don't hit. Thanks for all the great comments. I had a lot of fun making it and doing the research for the right details. I spent an hour just looking up the companies on the decals to make sure they were in business before 1962. Had to make sure I didn't get a sticker from 1965 on there.
  3. That thing is awesome, the paint looks a mile deep and the details are and interior really make the car look great
  4. WOW, outstanding. I love the details right down to the chalk on the tires. Great job
  5. Well, after reading the article I posted I have made a few changes to my car as well. I have the stock engine, but added a 4 barrel carb. The stock trans was a manual, but I added a Tremic(I think) 5 speed from a later 80's Ford T-Bird. Wheels and tires are from the MPC Chevy Rescue Van with a matched set of the rears in the front too. I made some new spindles for the front, wire coil springs and added lift blocks to the rear. I also opened the trunk to allow you to see all the goodies that will be in there in the future. I had to add a trunk floor to cover the hole where the fuel tank is. I am also removing the back seat and adding a roll bar and seats from a Plymouth Prowler. Hey they are at least Plymouth seats.
  6. That is looking really nice. I love the color. And the Green finger nails are a good look on you.
  7. I my research I found this article about 3 cars from the P2P. All the owners, drivers, nav are all from my town of Yakima Wa. Yakima is not a big town and we are out in the middle of Washington and yet 3 cars from here competed. If I get the time I may try to hunt them down and go see the cars. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/unbelievable-three-chevys-are-rewriting-the-rules-of-endurance-rally-racing/
  8. This is realy cool. I love the interior details. All the extra structure and mods really show how much work you put into this. Well done.
  9. So, I got this Lindberg kit with the Dodge L700 truck kit. It was really bad and needed a lot of work to make it look good. So, I decided to make a gasser out of it. Then I got into looking at what a Gasser really was, and it got me to read the rules and do a ton of research. So, in the end what I decided to do was to build a 40 Ford Gasser as close as possible to the NHRA rules for 1962. I poured over the rules and asked a lot of questions here in the drag forum. Every part of this build is done with a purpose. The engine is a Chevy 348 with 3 Duces. Rear axle is a Speedway Resins Ford 9in(came out in 1957) Wheels are stock steelies with Pie Crust slicks (thanks to generous forum members) Rear bumper is brass tube to replicate the push bars of the era and to stash weight to make the B/G class. Very large truck battery in the trunk to help push a light car into the B/G class and get weight over the rear tires. Fender headers were first allowed in NHRA Gas in 1962, so fender headers Custom made bucket seat to replicate MG/Triumph style seats of the era Custom made Aircraft seat belts. Custom dash, trunk opened and hinged, fenders in the trunk moved to correct location Converted to solid axle with leaf springs front, and leaf springs rear. Plumbed, wired, and fender welted. There were several things that I did along the way that I found out sere not correct for a Gasser in 1962, the member helped in that and I went back and fixed them. So, thank you to all that helped me get this correct. Hope you all like it.
  10. OK, I'm in. I wanted to do something in the classic era, but just slightly out of the norm. So, I am doing the 41 Plymouth. Lots of people were running 30-40's Chevy's and Fords, so Plymouth seemed like a good plan. I will have mock up later today. As for my number, I will go with #41
  11. OK, I removed the air cleaner and started on the fender welting. Flash shield installed. Now I have to decide if I want to remove the hood scoop and repair the hood, or leave the hood scoop. What do you think? Would it be right?
  12. Looks great, I love the subject. I also like to hear what you are thinking as far as the story line of the model. It helps to explain the "Why" something is do the way it is. I do the same, I like to imagine the reasons for the look of the build, or create a story line first, then build to the story. I like it, keep up the good work.
  13. The red paint is Auto store touch up rattle can paint. I think it is a Ford Red Thank you, now that I see the pictures I see it too. I will go back and fix that. The decals in that kit are not fun to put on. I spent a long time and a lot of decal setting solution and I still got a few wrinkles. But I understand I am not the only one to fight the decals in this kit. I also got the twin to this kit, the 1976 Torino in stock form. Thank you everyone for your kind comments.
  14. I like it, rather wild. It would be cool if you could carve the sides in to allow the bumper to fit without having to widen it. It has a very 60's custom look to it.
  15. You said you have the Off Road tires?

    Thank you so very much.

  16. I love that site and have looked at the photos at least 10 times. Only issue is there is no date on the photos, so you have to use details in the background like other cars to decide what year it might be. So if there is a 66 Impala, you know it was at least 1966 or later, but was it 1966 or 1971? Some photos I can see all the background cars are older than 196X and can assume the years, but still don't know. Not everyone bought a new car every year. So just because all the cars are older than 1964, does not mean the picture was from 1964. Also, I do not know if the cars were NHRA or AHRA or even just locals with loose rules, so using the rules for the year does not always nail it down either. I still love the site and it is still very useful.
  17. Anyone have a picture of this flash shield? I know I can make one if I know what it looks like.
  18. I love this. Very cool idea. It is a larger version of the 3.5L Plymouth Mini Cooper I just did. I will continue to watch this. My only question so far would be about the fuel tanks. I know those Diesels will consume some fuel, but you are only going a few miles each run. Do you need that big of fuel tanks? Or, are they added ballast to put weight on the front tires for stability? I would think that you could get by with around 30 gallons for a 10 mile run.
  19. I did wonder about that after you posted the picture, but though maybe you were headed in a different direction. Purple Pond?
  20. I guess I will have to decide if I want to pull it off and detail the carbs, or leave it as is.
  21. From the pictures you posted and the ones I have seen, the Lindberg kit (IMC) is a direct copy, part for part of the AMT kit. As if they got one of AMT's old worn out molds and used it. Same poor body lines, same incorrect rear quarter windows. Every part is the same. I got one with the L700 Dodge truck kit and decided to go completely period 1962 Vintage Gasser with it. I may still use the thread fender welting
  22. You should see the 1982 Silver Corvette interiors. My dream Corvette. The leather was several tones of Silver and Silver-Beige. 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette was all Silver.
  23. Don't give up. The colors look more like a Grey and an Off White. I am a big fan of the late 70's to 82 Corvette, my father was a Corvette restorer. The dash and other parts are almost a pure white and the carpet is way more grey than tan. Just don't give up, it looks like a good build so far.
  24. I built this one as part of my TV/Movie car collection. Completely box stock build. I did add some coil springs out of wire and a few other small details.
  25. So, I got the GB Caddy and had fun doing it. So when I was at HL and found the kit on sale for $7 I had to get another one and build it as an Ambulance. The GB car is just a OOB build. The Red one I smoothed the roof, cut apart the interior removed all the GB stuff and replaced the floor and added chrome strips. The hub caps and tires are the ones that come in the AMT 58 Impala and look close enough to me to work. A small piece of aluminum tube and a red light complete the look. Lots of BMF on both of these. I may still add some decals if I can find some that look right. And I just noticed that I forgot to paint the hub caps on one side. Better fix that.
