  1. So the fix required a trim of the plastic axle “sleeve” - and re-bending the brass rod - and it worked …. After some tweeks and paint ill have the correct wheel base …
  2. well. Here’s a little excitement / the front axle wheelbase is off by at least 3 scale inches …
  3. A Palmer A Palmer !! !!!
  4. This is where i got stuck two years ago before i finished the Mad Mike Indy Ford DOHC engine - Mecum’s Indy auction features two great Indy cars - Andretti’s 65 Brawner Hawk - with this engine - and Gurney’s 69 wedge influenced Santa Ana Indy - great shots on the Mecum site of that Gurney stock block ! So maybe i should finish the darned DOHC Ford ?!?
  5. Bugatti part iv: Romulus - As you surely know - was in Prince Bira’s wonderful stable of pre-war and just post-war open wheel race cars - when you start Romulus - i just mite start his gorgeous blue Maserati 8CM - there is no kit - but I do have a “plan” …
  6. Bugatti part III: and thank you for your scale question - i dont get enough questions/wish i got more …. Yes it is 24th scale …. The ONLY proper scale, right ??
  7. bugatti part II: assume you’ve seen the ERA scale drawings that are floating around the ‘net … and there is still available a rather nice curbside wh metal kit by the same English kit makers that produce the Delage ‘27 kit …. Which begs for a nice scratchbuilt supercharged engine …
  8. Oh dear. Page 13. …. bugatti: Pico is a sucker for anything French, old, and obscure - as am I - as for the Mullin collection Delage - my next Delage build will be a ‘27 Delage straight eight GP - starting with the white metal Finecast kit - there are 4/5 survivors - this one gracing the Rev’s Collection in Naples …. Actually its one of the early additions to what was once known as the Collier collection…
  9. Straightliner: how’s this ?? The grill pattern is doubled photo-etch pattern from an acustion sheet that I’ve had for years - just right for pre war grand prix machines - their stuff is no longer made (i think) but this pattern has also been produced by some other photo etch sellers …
  10. Really nice. Now That the body work has some saw horses for support - is it time to install that engine that you were assembling before the plague ?
  11. Ive been pondering the finish of the radiator - ive decided to add a coat of Alclad Bl and shine it up - the restored car that I’m referencing is a trailer queen - Jay Leno learing at it at Pebble Beach is about the roughest handling that this car will get : much tOo valuable to compete - and many parts - including the radiator - are recreations - so I’m going to spiff up the radiator …
  12. One of my many side jobs - i’m a medium - so you can reach the mysterious Pico Elgin by dropping your message right here in this thread - and he appears - or drive to Atlanta and stop people randomly for directions - well maybe just email him …
  13. The housing for the shifter and the vent on top of the trans case were both turned from nickel bar - before the pandemic - and were waiting patiently for the trans case to be painted … some more work on the safety wiring segments
  14. Did Pico show you his Duesenberg ? the kick-plate for the transmission case was made from renshape and “stained” w a sharpie …
  15. The right side mid- frame safety wires are not as precise as the first set - i think I know why - i’m about to reach page 13 - and we all know that the project goes to hell on page 13 - right? Anyway - ive got to Make four more segments - so Ill get better at it …
  16. Turning my attention back to the trans case - which was made from Evergreen stock pre-pandemic - the black undercoat is Alclad - the bolts are from RB MOTION - Ohio - and Master Club - Er - Russia - they produced some really neat castle nuts just a few years ago - but i don’t expect re-stocks any time soon …. …
  17. Thanks - for the record - the base was made by another club member for the group display - it is really nice -
  18. Nice ! Dont sell your stuff, Pat …
  19. oh no wont let you build your Bugatti w/out these lovely safety wires ... must share the pain
  20. Don’t try this at home kids .. no, actually do try this at home - but only a section at a time - it will drive you batty - but it looks cool … takes some practice - and an optivisor - the parts grabber tool in the previous photo is used to grab and hold the ends of the wire to twist them from bolt to bolt …
  21. Time for some safety wires. The Delage has these wires running along the pan sections - they secure the bolts that attach the pan sections to the chassis. Chose some bolts that included a cast washer - but the wire - .005 - has to be wound and twisted - first around some .015 rod - these are then replaced by the bolts when the wire is installed - its a little over scale- but not much …
  22. Here’s the sump - finally with some paint on it - and installed …
  23. Pascal - i know exactly which Miller that you have from “Harold’s model factory”. As ive got two of those - Important note - the Bradford fr dr 91 duplicates the Series I 91 and not the Series II cars - the ones that carried the suoercharger at the back of The cylinder head - post me here if you want more info - or if you would like to do a tandem build thread …
  24. Its interesting to compare MFH’s state oF the art 20th sc kit to Monogram’s state of the art 24th sc kit from over forty years ago … please post some pictures of the drivers compartment - im curious to see how much detail is provided in the MFH kit. As an example - the clutch details in the MFH are fantastic - something that Monogram omitted in their wonderful old kit … thanks also for posting the Lotus 43 build - also very helpful …
