Thanks folks, I appreciate the kind words and suggestions.

Yeah, like I said I'm a total newbie when it comes to GM's. Mopars had alternators starting in '61. I painted the brake rotors black to simulate drum brakes too. The kit comes with some nice rotor decals but no calipers. I thought it would look pretty weird without the calipers.

I recently finished this one for our club build, which was to build a Christmas present. I don't know a lot about GM's, so I built it box stock, without even adding engine wiring. The paint is Testors White Lightning rattle can lacquer with Tamiya rattle can clear. I wanted the interior to be a burgundy color, so I primed the pieces with red oxide primer, and top coated them with a light coat of Tamiya Bright Red PS-34. I'm pretty happy with the results. First time for me using a black chalk wash on the grille. It's super easy and I'll never paint one with enamel again! Comments and criticism are welcome. There's always room for improvement.

Looks great! Nice engine choice too. It's nice to see a base model Cuda. Has Revell corrected the front valence or did you have to bodywork it? It looks great.

Welcome back Michelle!

It was the last front-engine car he drove, too. -

Very nice. You are the ultimate scratch builder and so prolific! -
Nice job! Great color choice. Does the kit have the option to build it with the stock Dana 60 rear? I think it looks better that way.

Safety Netting

I made one out of strips of masking tape for one of my models. I used pieces of wire to support the top and bottom. You could add seat belt buckles too, although I didn't. I wanted to portray it in the open position and couldn't find anything close. -

Very nice! Love the color. -
Very nice build. I like it better with the Rallye wheels. Will the Firestone's fit on them?

My plan was to use the back half of the roof from the 65 as well. The only difference I can see is the 66 had slightly more curve at the top back corner of the window.

Awesome! I'll be watching this one. My SECOND car was a 66 Chevelle 4D with the 230 six cylinder.

Man, that looks great. Beautiful paint work! -
I have definitely noticed it. Mine is about 2 years old. Does anyone know how to do a refill?

Nice job. The front end is especially nice. The headlights and turn signal lights look real! -
Great idea! I even have a junk t-bird I can use!

Just a little something I'm working on for a club Corvette theme build. It's not a true double-ender, but just carries the front-end styling over to the rear. Carving up the sides to mirror the coves would be a nightmare. I'm planning on using red lenses for the rear "headlights" and running the exhaust out through the turn signal openings.

Dust string on enamel paint
Steamboat replied to gpal's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Also, You didn't mention whether the top coat is metallic or not. If it's metallic, the sanded area will look different in the final paint job unless you respray the whole model. If it's a non-metallic color, you may be able to just polish out the imperfection and not respray at all. -
Dust string on enamel paint

Absolutely. But I would sand it with 4000 grit first since it's only dust. If that won't get it, you can always go to progressively coarser grits.
