Thanks Devin! The Kaleido paints are great in my opinion. As are their primers and varnishes. I only airbrush water-based paints and got the hang of using the Kaleido pretty quickly. Here's my Revell 1970 Shelby GT500. It's painted in a mixture of Kaleido Colorworks Sunset Orange and Orange-Yellow. I cleared it with Kaleido Colorworks Gloss Varnish and it was then wet-sanded, polished, and waxed. I used Bare Metal Foil for the trim. The hood stripe decals were just not going to behave so I masked off and painted those stripes with Kaleido Black Primer and no clear. The interior is painted in Kaleido Colorworks Off White and I added embossing powder for the carpet and door lock knobs for extra detail. The engine is painted in Kaleido Colorworks Freedom Blue with spark plug wires, heater hoses, and a coil made from an extra shock absorber for extra detail. I used Kaleido Colorworks Stainless Steel on the wheels and added valve stems from MCVProducts.com. The white letter decals are from the Revell Diamonds are Forever Mach 1 kit. The sub-assemblies were a breeze, but final assembly gave me a bit of a headache. Mostly self-inflicted, but a couple of fit issues as well. I did come out victorious in the end and am very happy with the final outcome. Thanks for looking!

While I do agree that some kits do seem to get re-issued too often, the practice of re-issues serves many purposes as a few of the commenters here have discussed. The time and financial investment for all-new toolings is pretty steep, so for the American market we're just not going to get very many. I would actually like to see more re-issues of kits that haven't been seen in a while. Some examples from Revell would be the 1972 Olds Cutlass Convertible (although I was ecstatic for the '71 kit), 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T as opposed to the T/A, 1967 Camaro SS/Nickey, and even the 1977 Monte Carlo Snap-Tite. I was happy for most of the Revell re-issues like the 1986 Monte Carlo SS, 1969 Dodge Super Bee, and 1969 Camaro SS396, but very sad that they were such a limited quantity release as I couldn't really take advantage and buy them at the time. I would rather see those on the shelf at Hobby Lobby then the '69 Camaro Z28 RS, 1971 Hemi Cuda, and Boss 302 Mustang they've had for years now. The re-issues of the old 1/24 scale Monogram kits have been a very welcomed sight for me, but I'm anxiously awaiting the hopefully soon re-issue of the 1970 Malibu SS454/Chevelle 3'n 1 Heavy Chevy kit. Round 2 has been very busy with their re-issues, both good and questionable (The Californian being one example of the latter, at least in my opinion), with some of those being here and gone again too quickly as well. But these re-issues give those of us who had to take a break from the hobby for a while, work and family in my case, a chance to re-obtain some of the kits from our youth that tug at the old memories without emptying our bank accounts on eBay for such "VINTAGE" kits. It is great to see them with a presence in Michael's as there are a few kits there that Hobby Lobby doesn't offer so I hope to be able to take advantage and buy a few of those while they're still there.

Here's my version of the AMT 1971 Dodge Charger R/T. It's painted in the new Kaleido Colorworks by Gaahleri Metallic Blue-Gray and cleared with the Kaleido Gloss Varnish. I then wet-sanded, polished, and waxed for the final finish. Bare Metal Foil was applied for the trim, then the decals. I cut the trunk open on this one as well and made hinges for it to stay open. The interior is painted in Kaleido Off White and I added embossing powder for the carpet. The wood grain was accomplished using brown and black craft paint. The engine is painted in Kaleido Yellow-Orange and the transmission in Kaleido Aluminum. I used the steel wheels and center caps from the Revell 1968 Dodge Charger R/T with the kit tires. This is a very nice kit with little to no flash and some nice molded in details. The fitment of the parts was excellent as well, and the decals were strong and applied nicely. I did add spark plug wires, door lock knobs, and valve stems for extra detail. As always, thanks for looking!
