  1. You got both of my '49 Fords and orange '32 Ford. Thanks. I had 8 cars there including a Vette in the theme class. The day after the show I was getting texts from people crabbing about the judging, some discussions were on FB, I gave up FB a while ago. Some of it has merit from what I saw. As a club we will have to discuss it. We used to have judging clinics over the 25 years I have been with the club.
  2. I just realized that I have an old built Rat Packer I need to rescue. I built it around 1995 when I first got back into models. Tube glue that has held poorly, Testors enamels with no primer. I have on hand some 3D printed 572 Chevy engines... hot damn... just may be the ticket. One has injectors...
  3. I know that the '69 has been out recently. I built a '68 a long time ago, I would like to have another one.
  4. This and the AMT '40 Ford, you cannot ever go wrong building one. One of those kits that are nice box stock-ish builds.
  5. Very nice! I need to get one. A guy in my club just finished one, used Tamiya paints and box stock. I have an old Rat Packer from 1994 or so I have to resurrect. I picked up the AWB Mustang fastback last week.
  6. Not long ago, I scored a few cans of MM 1453 and 1454 spray metalizers at hobby shops. So I'm set for a while. I see them going for sick $$ on eBay.
  7. Or just cruise around on trash night. I see them out at the curb all the time. I see interesting storage units at Hobby Lobby. Some have up to 10 drawers in them, tall but narrow.
  8. I was up by Niagara falls at a park... nothing but smaller black squirrels. They were all over the place... like they owned it. I'm on Long Island, the south shore. The north shore has chipmunks, only this year I finally saw a straggler in my yard. I will have to watch for more of them.
  9. I need something for my paint cans. Right now the ones not in service sit in my front foyer in boxes.
  10. I got nothing, I'm not on FB but I would expect you may find them there. We had a photographer lined up, not sure what happened but he didn't make the show,
  11. I saw the test shot of the car at the NNL East, very nicely done IMO. On the old MPC thing, IIRC my first was the Dodge Charger. Then onto something like the '66 Pontiac. Immediately even at age 11, I noticed that the bodies were thinner and crisper than the AMT kits at the time.
  12. I picked up a Mustang fastback at a recent show, I agree it is quite basic. But little that has to be un-done to make it a good display piece. The roll cage is rudimentary and the "tubing" is out of scale at least to me. I will be dredging through my parts boxes on this one.
  13. I have an OG '62 Ford hardtop glue bomb resurrection in the works. I'm lucky it came apart and I got the interior and glass out with no big issue. I also have a semi-built '62 'vert and a un-built one, also a rag top. The hardtop is at the BMF and final assembly stage.
  14. The AMT '67 pro street kit has them.
  15. A friend of mine used to run a wrecker service and moved a lot of junk cars. I drove for him off and on when I was out on workman's comp.... Anyway, he got all of his cars at the junkyards, and so did i. Many times the cars had a minor issue that was easily fixable. So he finds a '71 LTD for his wife to drive. It was quite clean, it needed a transmission. We changed it while it hung from the back of a tow truck. That car ran well for years.
  16. On the R and L part thing, I mark the R parts only, usually with a small drill point where it won't show once assembled.
  17. Holy carp... one flat out amazing build.
  18. Great body style. There was a local one that was used to deliver auto parts, it had a 429 and factory 4-speed. I tried to buy it for a while, then it was gone.
  19. I follow him on IG, we have discussed his model car builds. He is quite a good builder. It will be great to have him back.
  20. I use the small tackle style boxes too. I pick up most at Hobby Lobby. I make a label that goes on the inside of the cover and it gets recycled to the next project. Most of my projects live inside those stackable plastic shoe boxes. I see a few guys in my club doing this. I will also re-purpose rx pill containers to sort parts as I clean them up for prime and paint. Finished parts go into the tackle boxes.
  21. Have you tried a silver base coat? I have had it block reds and yellows that tend to bleed through. Of course over a suitable primer. Good old Black Gold Orion Silver was great for this.
  22. I usually wander outside if I have to really make a mess sanding something. I find that a cold "snack" or two helps keep the dust down.
  23. The '60 Ford was (thankfully) a one-off year. It is possibly the widest car body ever made. I had driven a few when I was fixing cars, had to eyeball the garage bay opening carefully. I did a little fit-up of the '60 chassis under a '61 body, doable with a lot of slice and dice activity. Like I need another Frankenstein project.
  24. I have a couple of the '61 sealed kits, the one with the molded-in hood, no engine. I hope the new one comes with some decent detail, an engine and opened hood would be nice.
  25. I use Dullcote to protect tire transfers and decals. Someone else here uses Tamiya TS-71 that does the same thing. Or similar enough.
