  1. Very cool. I've plans to do something similar with an Avanti, so I'll be paying attention. Keep at it.
  2. Point taken. I'm just trying to make it so that more people could participate AND complete the build. Because fewer than 50% of people that end up on the roster complete the build, even on our best years. Now some of that is due to modelling ADD that we all seem to suffer from, and some of it is from life in the way, and some of it is a lack of inspiration. I'd like more input folks. If everyone is not in favor then I'll keep the rule as is.
  3. Looking forward to it.
  4. As I've no dog in the fight, I haven't chimed in about the time extension. At first I was against it, but I've done some thinking. Due to this crazy adult world we live in, sometimes even 11 months isn't enough time to finish a build. In 6 runnings that I've participated in, I've completed 3 models. So in order to help everyone out that might want to participate, I'll be changing the rules for next year, to allow a model up to 50% complete to participate in the Cannonball. In the past it's been a new or barely started kit only. We all have shelved projects that could use some new motivation and I think this would help a lot of folks get it done in time. Thoughts?
  5. I'm hoping to be there this year. Fingers crossed.
  6. Very nicely done. The first gens are also my favorite, and this is a great looking model.
  7. Great idea. Very cool decals, but I wish you'd taken the the idea further. Maybe take a Toyota 2JZ and built it to look like an old straight six from the fifties?

Very solid work. I like it.
  9. Five days left boys and girls. With only one build in the completed builds thread. Although it is certainly worthy, I'm sure Dennis doesn't want to win by default. As the Aussies say, get crack-a-lackin!
  10. Welcome Dennis. Happy to have you on the forums.
  11. Correct sir! Also this time I have my own model car Facebook page with about 250 members that I've told about next years running, so I'm hoping to pull a few more folks to this forum and hopefully the Cannonball.
  12. When we discussed the 2016 Cannonball Run, we decided on an partial off-road Cannonball. Both street and trail. Our original thought was a Canadian race, but some of our Australian members suggested doing an Australian Cannonball theme. If you check out the Aussieball thread in the Community section, it'll explain everything.
  13. Yes, but if that's what you want to do, do it for next years unlimited Run. Roadrunner79 won the Cannonball in 2013 with a sleeper when we ran an unlimited theme.
  14. On a side note. Please feel free to toss up any theme ideas you have, and I will make a list for next year. Themes I was kicking around were: 1. Junkyard - build a racer from something in the wrecking yard. 2. Pro-touring
  15. Ray, I quite agree with Mike. I did that very thing a few years ago with my Studebaker.
  16. Okay then. Where this the lace transfer come from?
  17. Mostly true. The real reason I've chosen the theme (or lack there-of) is because with only one exception (sleepers, from 2015) the themed Cannonballs had the lowest completion levels. I agree with Dennis and I really enjoy themes and will do themes again, but it limits our participants because a builder who'd normally join us, isn't into the theme. As we've seen from the Aussieball, there is a LOT of fabrication involved this year and many folks just don't have the time or inclination to do so. So for the 10th running, I'd like to get a huge field of completed models and happy finishers. I'm also planning another funny story to complete the race, like I did a few years ago. Here's the announcement I put in the current Cannonball thread. I am sorry if those of you who enjoy the themes are disappointed.
  18. I'm confused. This is very cool work, but it seems like you're building more than one body. Was all this painting done to one body? We never saw the results or heard what happened when the masks were removed. Can you clear up your steps for us?
  19. How about a Cobra kit?
  20. I must say I'm really interested in the mechanicals. I can't wait to see how a drivetrain fits in there.
  21. Very much my style. I dig it.
  22. This is kind of interesting. But knowing me I'd get out the Play-Doh and build a car for Mr. Bill.
