  1. Steve that looks awesome. Question I'm really leaning toward a gloss paint job on this '37. It will have the stance, the parts, the attitude of a rat rod, but will be gloss painted with no patina what-so-ever. Does this take it out of the 'rat rod" genre? Or is rat rodding more about attitude? Opinions please.
  2. Well the rear suspension mods are going well. Just a panhard bar to fab. The chassis mods for the coil over are kinda chunky, but everything fits and I'll be able to c-notch the chassis now so the lowered ride height looks mechanically possible.
  3. Steve, I like that alot man. Angry attitude, yeah, that fits. Some more suspension, chassis work on my '37.
  4. Well then, time to post up my new rat rod. AMT '37 Chevy Cabrio. It will be built fenderless, channeled and very low. Front suspension will be out in front of the grill on a suicide perch. Wheels and tires from the Revell '29 roadster. Engine from the Beretta pro-street with a tranny change. I'm still undecided on the paint color. More soon.
  5. Happy to have you again. I approve of your choice of subjects. I'll get you added to the roster.
  6. Well aside from Steve and myself, it seems interest is limited. So I recommend Pat, that you just delete the start & end date on the original post and let the CBP continue without end. That way builders who have the interest still have some place to participate with like-minded folks. With no actual rules it should need no supervision on your part.
  7. Thanks both of you. I have changed out the tranny for something more street worthy. Much appreciated.
  8. Another question based on this engine. I'm using it in another project. I do NOT have the rest of the Beretta kit for reference. The instructions provide no help in this case. So. Note the bottom of the bell housing in the photo. It's flat with an opening for it to mate with something else, likely a cross member. Without having that cross member in hand how should I finish this piece? Is it supposed to be flat like that? Or shall I add material to round it out? Also, it's obviously a Lenco transmission intended for drag racing. Is it applicable for street use or should I just replace the tranny altogether? Any help is appreciated.
  9. Looking good. Keep it goin!
  10. Man, that looks great. Very authentic. I like it!
  11. Looking forward to seeing this come about.
  12. Well, once upon a time I had an excellent collection of old Johans. They were stolen in a military move. Today, I have these two that were rare AT THE TIME I HAD BUILT THEM. Round 2 has since reissued both.
  13. Pat has wrapped his year long Rat Rod CBP and I was wondering if there is any interest in starting another. I've always got a rat rod in the works somewhere. It would be open ended with no rules and no definition on what a rat rod is.
  14. Pat it's all good. Life happens. If there is sufficient interest, I'll start an open-ended CBP for rat rods. No rules. Chime in if you'd like me to. Or Pat can nix his end date and we just keep working on this one.
  15. And apparently no common sense either. Why move a team to a town where there is - 1. Already an NFL team, who can't fill their stadium either. 2. To a town with a large Raider fanbase who are division rivals. The owner "might" get his new stadium but he should be concerned whether or not there are enough fans willing to fill it.
  16. Okay, the roster is up. Again, Otherunicorn, I need more info on your build. Seventeen entrants so far, mostly from our usual suspects, but a few new faces who are quite welcome. Pat had a cool idea posting up his four racers, so here's my three. The Monza is from the original run and is called the Captain Chaos Special. My Stude racer is from the final SA run and the model went on to be a Carrera Panamericana racer. The Pacer is from the infamous Sleeperball. I've never won one, but I think I've placed third twice. Hoping to improve on that this year.
  17. Outstanding model. Very authentic and believable.
  18. Thanks the Revell '09 Challenger is now on the bench.
  19. Yes please. I haven't perused many of the modern car kits, so which kit has the nicest 6.1 liter hemi?
  20. I have decided on my Cannonball racer. The '66/'67 Chargers are my favorite cars of all time. For many reasons this car just speaks to me. So it's been a forgone conclusion that eventually one would be build as a Cannonballer. The tenth anniversary seems like the right time. I've had plans over the years on what I'd like to do with one, but luckily our esteemed Mr. Foose has already taken care of a lot of it for me. So the plan is, Foose Charger. A little dechroming. IFS to replace the stock setup. Lower and modify the rear suspension for racing. And an experimental engine. Likely going with a charcoal grey metallic, with Foose stripe decals. EDIT: Scratch the whole power train idea above. Somehow a '09 Challenger kit arrived into my possession. I plan to use the whole chassis and drive train. Since the Charger weights less than the '09 Challenger, the 6.1 will be even more potent, especially when my guys get through with it. Per the rules a before-the-carnage-begins photo is required. I have "I'm gonna build" from more than a dozen folks, but not all with a starting photo, lets get it done. I'll get a roster started in a couple days. Otherunicorn please give me more info on the build for the roster. Cpt. Tuttle, very happy you are participating. And BTW, I loved you in M.A.S.H. Lunajammer, I'm always looking forward to your work. This new-fuel idea has my interest. Tim H, looking forward to what you have in mind.
  21. Yes, but it gave me a solid appreciation for actually running a Cannonball. I drove 2987 miles in 50 hours over five days. That's an average speed of 59.74 mph. I will say, weather WAS a factor.
  22. Well guys, I've just relocated to Mountain Home, Id. I'm still kicking around my entry. Once I get my PC set up in a couple of days I'll get the roster going. Pat, real sorry to hear about the divorce. That Camaro looks fantastic. Well done.
  23. Okay folks, time to kick the tires and light the fires. Let's get to work. If nothing else lets make 2017 a great modeling year.
  24. Those two get my vote. Here's what I'm thinking. It's started, but not close to 25%. I think it would make a cool Cannonballer. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/115756-53-chevy-track-racer-minor-update-921/?page=1
  25. I have a really good idea of what I'm building, but I want to spend a while staring at the stash before I decide. Unfortunately the stash is in Idaho and I'm in Florida until Jan 8th. or so. More soon.
