  1. So much really neat detail in there. Terrific work.
  2. I have traded several times with folks here. Always been happy.
  3. What a treat! Outstanding design and execution. It has all the looks of a modern pro-tourer EXCEPT no big wheels/thin tires that is all the rage today. Instead you've got plenty of rubber that makes me think of classic IMSA racrers. Well done sir.
  4. Living off the beaten path, our home life hasn't changed much. Since the hardware stores are still open I can get some projects done on the farm. I'm installing a gate in the pasture fence and digging out the rather invasive and determined thistle that's been all over our canyon. Taking time though, to relax a bit. Happily we harvested our steer just before this went down so the freezers full.
  5. Yes, the model has some accuracy issues. Like a lot of Monogram from this time period, a lot of eyeball engineering was going on. BUT, these kits go together VERY well. Everything fits. They are fun to build. I can usually pick them up for $8-10 bucks at a swap meet and they make excellent slump buster builds. I'm never afraid to try something weird. If accuracy is your thing, you'll want to pass these by, but other than that, they are pretty cool.
  6. Interesting. Another car that looks like it was designed by taking styling cues from half a dozen other cars.
  7. Check out Hobby Designs stuff. I have used them, very nice molded parts.
  8. Russel, spring is a busy time on my farm so I haven't been in the hobby room much unfortunately. I hope to get back in in July when it's too blasted hot to spend a great amount of time outdoors working.
  9. Outstanding work. Hopefully we'll see you at our club meeting one day. Look for the Treasure Valley Car Modelers on Facebook. Our meeting are first Thursday of the month at the Hobby Town USA at 6pm.
  10. Beading pins from a local craft store. About 2.5 inches which is long enough to get from a fuel pump to a carb.
  11. Pretty amazing work. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
  12. Happy to help. I've been toying with the idea recently myself. The problem is these kits, are generally very good, so parting them out feels a little wrong to me. Particularly the Foose kits.
  13. I quite agree. My memories of this kit aren't good ones. My compliments sir.
  14. This chassis and others like it from different kits are pretty frequently swapped into other models. With alterations, this could be made to fit nearly anything from the time period. I also recommend the chassis from the AMT '39 Wagonrod, the AMT Phantom Vicky, and the Revell/Monogram '37 Fords. I'm sure the recent Foose Caddy and Ford Pickup will equally adaptable.
  15. It's definitely worth doing. I've done many local contests, but I was lucky enough to participate in the last GSL. It was my first "big" contest. It was a great time. The local club that puts it on, does it this way so that the club members can participate, even though they all vote for one another. But somehow it's still impartial. ? And when I heard a woman who was voting, say to her husband, "Look Dear, that one's the same color as my nail polish, I'll vote for that one.", I never went back. People who aren't modelers and have no clue what went into the construction of the model, should not be voting.
  16. That looks terrific. Nicely done.
  17. Well I have done contests where the all the judging is popular vote. I hate that. But in most cases yes. Though usually of another modeling genre.
  18. I quite agree. Most shows I've been involved in clear the room when the judging is going on. A clearly written or typed summary of your work on you entry form is the way to go. However, I do advise talking to the judges AFTER the awards. A quick critique from the judge might give you a tip on how to do better next time. Also in most cases a "good" paint job isn't enough. There are too many exceptional painters out there.and you need to step up to that level to compete. Simply put, clean building, expected details (a washed grill, clean BMF, detail painting), and a great paint job wins. Period.
  19. I recieved mine in the mail recently. My wife surprised me after not being able to find it in the LHS when they reopened. The box is in good shape, so I can't acount for the damaged parts. I submitted a warrantee request from Revell. As soon as I come up with an idea for an engine, and get my replacement parts, I'll get started. I'm going to do a JDM-esque build.
  20. I could have happily gone my whole life without seeing that.?
  21. Thank you David. ? It really is very nice. There's a lot I'm not going to get to use due to space constraints.
  22. I like it! Nice work.
  23. Matt, Paul hasn't been around in a couple years. People join and fall off the forums pretty frequently.
  24. Every model kit deserves to have something cool built from it. For you enjoy it. That's as simple as it gets.
