WHAT ON EARTH? Chevy gasser locked thread
Jantrix replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yep, I locked it. Sorry to offend anyone. I try to build within the realm of what I have on hand and I figured if folks threw out ideas, I'd find the answer. I did. So I just locked it so that I'm not wasting peoples time when I have the info (and parts) I needed. Thanks for the concern. -
Just Curious.......

To tell the truth, an idea/plan has to hit me just for me to buy the kit. That's why I haven't bought the Hudson or '48 Ford yet. When an idea stikes I'll get them. The only thing that springs to mind that I bought with a "I'll think of something" was the Revell '49 Merc. -
Chevy gasser on the drawing board - engine?
Jantrix replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Guys, thanks very much. Your advice led me to remember a dual quad 396 from a 1/24 Revell 67 Chevelle that I have in my parts boxes. It's all good now. -
Gary, it's always good to see your work here. We missed you at JAXCON the last couple of years, plans on returning?

Chevy gasser on the drawing board - engine?
Jantrix replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ack! There's no replacement for displacement. Thanks guys. I'll see what I can dig up. -
Okay, here is the plan so far Chassis and suspension - 1/24 Monogram Badman '55 Body and interior - 1/24 Revell 53 Chevy hardtop Admittedly the 396 small block in the Badman is sub-par and the engine in the '53 is an inliner, so I need an idea of what kit might have an appropriate vintage chevy big block in 1/24 scale. I'm trying to kick around some ideas. Thanks for the help.

Tim, that Viper looks great! Andy, glad to have you.

We generally don't see much kitbashing here of the tuner variety. Nice to see something new. Very cool. Except for the pink.

Honestly Tony these MMO's are the most adictive thing ever. I've been a gamer since a fella named Gary Gygax tossed dice on a kitchen table, but even non gamers get caught up in it. My buddy Ron is the biggest gearhead I've ever known. He has tranny fluid running through his veins. He was watching his son play Warcraft one night, again the next, and on the third night he tried it himself. The rest is history. Now the dust on his project car piles up as he spends his nights raiding dungeons. But his wife doesn't mind because he's spending less money.

I think most of us are in a similar situation.

how can i start building models like you guys
Jantrix replied to jay8allday's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Jay, I don't think you have a good idea of the bulk of our little group here. Most us are just like you, we snip the part off, clean it up, paint it and glue it in place. Yes, we have some terrific builders here capable, willing and twisted enough to build a car from scratch. But they are the minority that are here to inspire us to continue to improve our building skills or just drive us crazy. I'm a big believer in what I call the "First Rule of Modeling". That is learn to build cleanly. No mold lines, no scratches, sink marks or seams. No excess glue or CA glue haze. A good paint finish. These are the basics and I'm still working on them myself. Master this and the rest will come in time. -
You'd do this : Right ?

Not on a bet. -
Yep, me too. I played the beta this past weekend. It's going to rock.

Gassers. All straight axle?
Jantrix replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's what I was thinking. I'll see what sort of spare parts I have in any case. Thanks everyone. -
Thinking of some new CBP ideas(updated OP)
Jantrix replied to martinfan5's topic in Community Builds
How about doing a non-U.S. build? That would incorporate all sorts of stuff. British sporty types, Italian super-cars, German autobahn scorchers, Japanese drifters, Aussie muscle and Russian...........umm..........tractors. -
I have an AMT 40's Plymouth that I think would make a great gasser. It comes with independant front suspension. If I alter the spindles to increase the height of the front end for that gasser look would it still be authentic?

Greg that looks great. I love the paint. I need to get cracking and learn my ###### air brush.

Whoa, Looks like some kind of land speed car.

Nice work. What kit came with the visor?
