  1. Found a few more to add. Here's a couple I pulled from IMCDB website under "CHiPs" Look in the background at the beat up 70 R/T Challenger convertible! And finally, this one is just sad. Looks like it was rolled, had a pole fall on it and had the roof cut off to rescue the occupants. And by the way a couple of these chuckleheads are smiling, I'm going to assume the driver made it out alive. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the Cuda. What a waste!
  2. Make that four votes for the VW Avenger. I have one of those kits. Has 2 butchered bodies. I'd like to see what you do with yours - might make me want to dig mine out to make something out of it.
  3. He must've been. After all, he signed the award so it MUST have his approval! Or maybe he just donated the VHS box for the plaque. Opie Cunningham was very generous! ?
  4. Like I also said: Here's hoping it can be found!
  5. None of those boxings are Round 2s doing, two are from Racing Champions and the gravel trailer even says ERTL on the box, so don't blame R2 for the misinformation. They didn't own the company when these were made.
  6. Looks great. Well, at least it captures the look of the wrecked car anyway. You should photograph it by the side of a long desolate road, with some smoke coming off of it. Well done!
  7. If it is Hubley, then 1958-1960 would be pretty close. Lindberg and Ideal Model Corp also did TR3s, but IIRC they were 1/32nd scale with multi-piece bodies and definitely don't look the same as the Minicraft.
  8. Pretty sure it came from Hubley.
  9. BTW, what's the GTX for? Gonna have Hemi powered drop gates?
  10. Looks like you've got your work cut out for you. Can't wait to see it being built. Very inspiring!
  11. While I know who the brothers are, who are the two other "Pete Bests" in this lineup?
  12. Great build, but something's missing - and her little dog too!
  13. Keep em coming Tim, they're looking great!
  14. Thanks, Brandon! I'm glad you guys are enjoying the post. I liked seeing these pics too, brought back memories of my childhood when cars like these were commonplace. Looks exactly like the pics I posted, Dan. And you were there!
  15. I noticed Dupli-Color paints almost doubled in the last year and a half. From $8-$9 a ten ounce can to $12-$15 currently. And it looks like the price hasn't stopped yet. So I don't think it is just Testors, but probably EPA regulations and the price of oil dictating the current trend.
  16. Sooo, The 55 Chevy has two sets of wheels, but the 66 Chevelle only has Centerlines? Who said life was fair? ?
  17. Otaki sure made good representations of Buick nailhead V8s with a one barrel carburetor! BTW, I don't think the PCV valve (yellow wire to the valve cover) should connect to the carb. It usually connects to the air cleaner or intake manifold. It's meant to relieve combustion pressure from the engine block and I don't think you want to have gas fumes mixed with engine oil.
  18. Well, with the hood and the side pipes, the car sure looked the part. Guess you had one of the first "clones".
  19. Cool, I'm glad someone gleaned something interesting from my little trivia lesson. ?
  20. Looks like a 427 on the hood. I don't know how you let it go! 1978 - probably due to the price of gas.
  21. By "flair", if you mean lack of taste, then YES! It's funny, the car actually came about because of a car accident. While towing another custom car, the stock '53 Lincoln Capri Barris was driving was involved in a rear end collision with a truck and it wiped out the roof and driver side of the car. Making lemonade out of lemons, he ended up using the wreck as the basis for the "Golden Sahara". I kinda think the wrecked Lincoln looked better, but it wasn't my money. He was paid 25k in 1953 dollars to build it, so somebody liked it! And no, the glowing tires weren't on it then. From the rear with the top half cut off.
